THE HYBRID WOLF

Chapter 1

Leila.

I heard my alarm clock go off, and I groaned squeezing my still-closed eyes. I snapped my eyes open when I saw a pair of red eyes looking back at me. Wtf? Ok

"What the hell was that? " I grumble to myself looking at my clear blue-gray eyes in the mirror over my bed.

I hear a voice chuckling in my head.

"Hello, you. My name is Leone, I am your wolf, and I'm so happy to be the first person to wish you a happy birthday, "

"Oh, right! I have a wolf now. Well, I'm happy to meet you too Leone, My name is Leila, " I say and then feel stupid because of course she already knows me, I'm the one meeting her for the first time.

"I know your name silly. I've been with you from the moment you were conceived, " I hear her laugh again but I feel her joy.

I'm over the moon too, to finally be able to have her like, have her and not just know she was somewhere there, inside or whatever.

Today is my eighteenth birthday, and in my world, it is the age of maturation. Any moment from now I could find my mate. I was both elated and terrified at the prospect.

I am a loner even though I live in a pack, the Colorado pack. We were one of the strongest packs in the werewolf community and very few packs could rub shoulders with us.

You know that case of no matter how much you have, and how strong you are, there is always that one person who has more than you do or is stronger than you? Well, our case is no different. No matter how badass we are, we are no match for the Blood Moon Pack.

I sigh, rolling out of bed and landing with a 'tut' on the floor. Groaning, I get up and proceed to the bathroom and do my morning routine, which essentially consists of brushing my teeth, cleaning my face, emptying my bladder or colon or both depending on my need, and that is about it.

I don't wear makeup or any shit like that. I rarely comb my hair, I usually just pass my fingers through and I'm fine with the result.

I tie my long straight red hair into a high ponytail, put on a baggy trouser and a large shirt and I'm good to go. I'm not a girly girl if you haven't grasped it yet.

I leave my room and cross the long corridor leading to the staircase which in turn leads to the living and dining room of the pack house. Yep, I live in the park house with alpha Jacob, Luna Katie, their son John, and one or two other pack members who had nowhere to stay.

Yes, I am an orphan. I don't know who my parents are. If they are still alive and didn't want me, or if they are dead. I know nothing of my family history, not even their names.

I am a very quiet person. Even my steps are barely heard sometimes even with our extraordinary hearing capacity. Some people in our community call me a creep because they never hear me coming. Not that they say that to my face, but I have ears you know... They listen whether you want them to or not.

I take the stairs two at a time to reach the dining room faster because I am famished. I was not prepared though to get hit with the most amazing scent of wildflowers. The scent is so enticing that I quicken my steps and once I round the corner to the dining which was next to the parlor, I breathe the one word I expected to at some point but not this fast...

Mate...

My eyes and shocked face are fixed on John who has an equally shocked face staring back at me.
