Chapter Here We Go
After hours of traveling. And just getting out of Midnight Sliver Pack territory, we have less than an hour before we hit Crimson. I'm trying to just sleep in the back as Liam took over driving from Pete. Zoe and I are in the backseats. Its cramped and since we are the smallest, we get stuck back here. No complaints from us. Means no driving for us. We can sleep, have girl talk (which the guys blast music when we start), and we write spells back and forth so the guys don't know. We make the most of it.
"Shouldn't be much longer. We will be stopped probably just outside of the border. Probably best to even just park and wait to make sure it's safe if no one tries to stop us. I will get out. My scent should attract guard. We want to do this one by the book. No slip ups." Pete says to us and we silently agree to him as Liam nods about the parking.
'Yea, no slip ups. Shouldn't have this one along.' My wolf claims sarcastically. 'Just wait. This is going to ruin everything. I feel it. You are returning. We won't be free anymore. Freedom isn't going to happen, not for any of us.'
'Why not for them atleast? Why wouldn't Dad let them go if I agree to stay? I think we can negotiate with him. We aren't a pup anymore. The big bad Alpha isnt going to scare us anymore. Our alpha voice is scarier than any of the ones we've came into contact with.' I respond to her.
'You think he would find mercy? This is Alpha Dekan. He only keeps peace with few packs. What makes a few rogues safe? What because his long lost daughter shows up on his doorstep asking for their safety?'
Fuck. She's right. I don't want to fight my father. I could take him or any of them for the matter, but the thing is is that they are still my family. My pack. I may have ran away 2 yrs before my link could be established at my first shift, but they are my pack. I wasn't exhiled or kicked. They'd have no reason to keep peace with me. The others, Pete and Liam are exhiled of another pack and Zoe, is a rogue witch which is a threat to packs.
As we approach the boarder. I try to keep my heart from racing. Liam pulls over and sparks. Pete looks back at the rest and shrugs before unbuckling his seatbelt and is out the door. Liam keeps the headlights on with our hazards as well. God, this better fucking work.
Two wolves show up. Large and dark brown. What I call border control. They're the guards that stay shifted when watching the borders. Pete says something to them with his eyes to the ground. This shows we mean no harm and respect. Packs think they are higher than rogues so it's best to just go with things to not have trouble. One runs back behind a tree to shift and walks back. Liam rolls down the window before being asked. Pete gets back in.
"You will have to meet the Alpha at the pack house. Stay on this main road. The next 2 wolves ahead will jump into you bed there to ride along. Do you need directions to the pack house?" Mr patrol dude says towards the guys. He peeks over at us in the back and for a second I get a bit if his scent. I recognize him from sparring together as pups. He smiles and says nothing.
'Oh god. He knows. Dad will expect us now.' She's right, fucking again.
'Shit.' Is all I can think.
We keep moving. The wolves joined us. Took us 4 hours out of our way, well theirs now. I see the pack house up ahead. Liam goes to park the truck on the curb. The guard dogs come around. We don't attempt anything without being told. They ask for the keys from Liam. He gives them to him, no trouble. They ask for all of us to come out. Panic sets in.
"Is it like if the two in back stay here?" Pete requests but is shut down. "All must meet the Alpha per his request."
'FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCKITY, FUCK!' damn, my language has rubbed off on her.
Pete looks back at me with an apology glance and the guys step out. Zoe and I then come out. The guards pat us down.
"No weapons, no cells, nothing that can be an issue?" One guard asks. We shake our heads in response. "Follow."
I look up and see my old home. It hasn't changed. I see my room. Still with my halloween decorations on the window I kept all year round. Nothing. Has. Changed. The house next door though is what gets my attention. I see him in his window of that room of my nightmares. Why? Why am I scared? I promised myself I would never let what Theo did to me effect me into this type of fear. I can't stop it though. The tears start before we reach the front doors.
"The office-" the guard starts but I get a rush of adrenaline and my courage back and cut him off to finish for him "is the third door to the right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know the way. Follow me guys. Sorry about this." I say to them with. Straight face. They all look at me like 'what the fuck is going on'.
I knock with the bottom of my fist. More like pound, but hey its the adrenaline.
"Come in." That familiar gruff voice is as clear to me. I open the door.
"Hello, Dad." I say at once as the rest looks at me, jaws dropped as they follow in. Zoe closes the door behind us.
"Azula! Steve was right about you seeming familiar. Welcome home child." He says with a smirk on his face that then turns to a straight face with a little anger piercing through. "What brings you back after all this time?"
"Just need passage to California. I don't plan on staying. My friends and I just need to go-" I start my whole speech I had hours to think about. He cuts me off, "No. You will stay for your Brother's ceremony. He is becoming Alpha in 2 weeks. You being home would be the perfect thing for our pack and our family."
"Dad, I'm sorry. I want to just go with my friends. Can we negotiate if anything." If anything I can get them through safely or get them to stay with me and we can leave after. My father loves to negotiate things to his liking though.
"Your friends can go to the guest rooms on the third floor. You can show them the way. You, your room is still where it is. We will speak more tomorrow on this matter. For now, accept my kindness and do as you are told." My Dad always gets his way. Fuck.
