The Hunting

Chapter 24

The council guards escorted Alpha Henry and Clayton back to Riverdale, Tobias was taken straight to Blood Moon, and Kia remained at St. Aims.

Greyson showed up at Riverdale a few hours later, with a satisfied smirk on his face and a few bags.

"Let's get started, shall we?" he said as he walked into Henry's office.

"I'd like to see all of your warriors."

"Fine." Henry growled as he mindlinked his warriors. "Come to my office."

Soon all the warriors were there, making his office feel cramped. Greyson walked between them and picked out a few and dismissed the rest. After confirming with Henry that they could leave they did and only a handful of warriors remained.

"Tomorrow I'll be putting you through a series of tests to assess your capabilities." Greyson said, folding his arms over his chest. "We need to get the best fit."

"Excuse me?" Kent said, "best fit for what?"

"Beta of Riverdale." Greyson said, "Clayton will no longer be your Beta."

"Then let Kia take over, she's the best fit and everyone knows it." Kent snapped.

"Be that as it may, Kia will be joining the council." Greyson said.

"It was the councils decision that Tobias take over Blood Moon, they removed Clay from his position and kept Kia at St. Aims. Furthermore, Counselor Greyson will be staying with us permanently. Punishment for what we did to Alpha Morris and his sons." Henry explained.

Kent glared at the councilman, his eyes full of hatred. He was very close to the Beta family and it was clear he didn't like the sound of this at all.

"Meet me at the training grounds at seven. Sharp." Greyson commanded as he dismissed them with a wave.

"We'll talk more about how you run this pack tomorrow." he said before leaving himself.

--Blood Moon --

"What the hell am I going to do now." Tobias grumbled to himself. He was restless, he's been pacing his father's office for over an hour now. He wanted to be with Kia, he missed her scent, her gentle touches that instantly calmed him.

Knock knock.

"Come in." Tobias growled.

"Care to tell me why you're here?" Lucas asked.

Although Tobias didn't want it, his wolf was quick to accept the role of Alpha, his eyes turned black and he stepped towards Lucas. "I am your Alpha." Timber snapped, "I don't have to explain shit to you."

Lucas stepped back and lowered his eyes, "Forgive me, Alpha." Tobias didn't miss his condescending tone but chose to ignore it for now. "Arrange a pack meeting, now."

Lucas left the room to assemble the pack for a meeting.

"Thank you for joining me." Tobias said as he addressed the crowd. "I know you all have questions, so allow me to answer them."

He cleared his throat and shifted around nervously. "The council had decided that I will be taking over the pack as Alpha. And I just want to make some things very clear. I am not my father. So as of this moment things around here are going to be different. Everyone holding a position of leadership, consider yourself demoted, I will personally be reselecting new members of leadership and it will only be given to those deserving, not those who abused power to get it."

The crowd murmured and Tobias got a lot of heated looks.

"Furthermore, if anyone does anything that I don't agree with the consequences will be severe. The abuse stops now, the brutality stops now. And if you don't agree with that, you're more than welcome to pack your shit and leave!" Tobias said, his voice booming out over the crowd of people.

Nobody moved and Tobias released a sigh of relief." That's all for now, we will hold another meeting later this week to discuss the new pack laws and leadership. Thank you." Tobias said dismissing everyone.

The people slowly started leaving, each returning to whatever they were doing before.

"We need to deal with him." Lucas said to a group of people in the back.

"Agreed." a man growled out as he glared at Tobias' retreating form.

--St. Aims--

"This will be your room. It's fully equipped with everything you need. Kitchen and living area are through there, your bedroom and bathroom are over there. Your clothes are already here and packed away." Councilwoman Lucy said as she showed Kia around her new room.

The place was mesmerizing, it was large and fancy and had everything one person could possibly dream of. But Kia didn't want it. She wanted Riverdale, she wanted Tobias, she wanted her old position as Beta. The mere thought of becoming a councilwoman made her stomach turn.

Lucy left and Kia threw herself down on her bed, aimlessly thinking of everything she had left behind. Thinking what an unexpected turn this whole trip had taken. Sure, they were expecting reprimand, but this was beyond her worst fears.

After a while she got up and decided to take a shower. As she stood there with the warm water streaming down her body, she lightly traced her tattoos, tears pooling from her eyes. Kia screamed and lashed out at the shower door, the glass cracked and shattered to the ground. Kia sighed and looked down at her hand that was bleeding from where the glass had cut her skin.

She turned the water off and wrapped a towel around her before she left to find a first aid kit.

The moment she stepped out of the bathroom the hair on the back of her neck stood up and a shiver ran down her spine. She turned around and came face to face with Dominic, sitting casually on her bed.

"What are you doing here?" Kia asked, holding the towel tight against her body.

Dominic's eyes turned black as he looked over Kia's wet body, the towel the only thing obscuring his view.

"Do you have any idea how hard it was to convince the council to ban your mating with Tobias?" he asked, licking his lips.

"You did what?" Kia asked, her head spinning.

Dominic chuckled, "I wasn't planning on stealing anyone's mate, heck I wasn't even planning on ever being mated. But when I saw you," he said, gazing at her "I had to have you."

He laughed again and got up off the bed, walking towards Kia. With every step he took she backed away, until her back hit the wall and she had nowhere to go.

"Now with Tobias out of the way," he said trailing his finger down her cheek, "You're mine." he whispered.

"I already know how I'm going convince the council to allow our mating, it's only a matter of time."

"I will kill you." Kia said her eyes flashing black.

Dominic chuckled, "I wouldn't expect anything less, besides I like a little fighter."

He left the room with one last smirk her way. Kia sunk down to the ground, her whole body shaking. She didn't think it was possible for anyone to scare her after what she went through. But this man terrified her, pain and torture she could handle, but what he had promised to do to her was something she couldn't deal with. He would break her and she was afraid of what would happen if he succeeded.
