Chapter 6 | Mozzafiato

Mozzafiato ( B r e a t h t a k i n g )

It had started to snow.

My hair was already filled with snow, cooling my scalp it was getting annoying.

It was getting colder by the passing minute and due to my wolf being inactive, my body was not fighting against cold or heating my body.

That sucks.

I was still dangling over his shoulder with sparks still making my body feel as if it was on fire - and only slightly warm.

I had stopped struggling long ago because I was trying to absorb as much heat radiating from his body as I could. Or I might freeze. Things we have to do to survive.

My dress and bare feet were not helping either.

Another thing was that, that I did not know where we were. We had exited my territory long ago and now I had no idea where we were.

I was that useless and I didn't like it one bit.

"We have to stop." I suddenly say but Darius did not reply and kept walking. I sighed.

"I said, we have to stop!" I tried to say in my Alpha voice but it was useless because my voice was far from an Alpha command and who was I kidding - this guy was a Lycan. Why would he even listen to me?

Why was I even ordering him?

"Snow will fall harder as the night approaches and I am hungry, maybe you should stop."

The Lycan did not say anything. I sighed, knowing I was going to be ignored.

A second went by when he finally said something,

"We have to reach my pack tonight. I am going to shift." I froze. He was going to shift? No shit.

"But -" I stopped when I was placed on my feet and the separation from his body caused the cold air to attack me as well as some snow under my bare feet.

I watched as my mate shifted.

It started with his body trembling, His claws growing and the skin disappearing, instead, fur sprout out. His mouth grew and he increased in height.

This was the first time I was watching a Lycan shift and it wasn't very appealing.

Darius was normally really tall but after shifting, he is five times taller. My wide eyes did nothing to hide my surprise.

He was so big!

A shiver went up to my spine and I was suddenly engulfed in the arms of the beast who stood on two feet and he instantly starts running.

I savored the moment in his arms only, for the time being, enjoying the feeling of his soft fur against me.

Not knowing when his heartbeat lulled me to sleep.

The next time I woke up was when Darius' Lycan was laying me down somewhere on a hard surface - are we back in the pack? And if yes, then don't they have beds? - and I immediately come back to my senses and push the furry giant beast away from me.

I immediately crawl away from him only to realize we were in a cave.

Did he live in a cave?

Ha! Looks like a cavemen anyway.

His big golden eyes watched me and he took a step back and then . . . Shifted into his human naked self.

I immediately look away - thank God my wolf was not here to annoy me.

"I lost the scent of the path because of the snowstorm. We stopped here." His thick voice said and I brought my knees up to my chest, lowering my head on them.

"Told you so, I have got more understanding of the surrounding than you." Darius growl.

I heard his growl but I ignored him.

It was awfully cold in here.

I heard shuffling and the crack of bones, I looked up to find Darius shifted back into his Lycan. He was a very scary creature.

I was a pup in front of him.

He took a step forward and I raised my palm,

"Stay the fuck away from me." I mumbled and he growled, "I mean it, stay away."

He definitely did not like what I said because he growled louder and took a step closer,

"If you come closer, I will never accept you." Not that I was going to anyway. That was it. He growled louder but still complied and sat in his Lycan form, away from me.

No matter how much my body screamed for his warmth, I was going to stick to my decision.

No matter, if I freeze.

His Lycan stared at me and I glared in his gold eyes.

I won't give in.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours until we both were facing away from each other in two different corners.

He has such a big ego! Can't he try again asking me if I need his warmth? Maybe this time I won't reject him.

But He was asleep already and I wasn't.

I couldn't sleep in the cold. It was impossible.

I turned around to see the Lycan sleeping peacefully. Taking the chance, I slowly stood up and tiptoed out of the cave.

The snowstorm had stopped but instead was left glistening white soft snow. I looked back once and started my journey back, not caring if I got lost.

The cold air immediately nipping at me.

I hardly took two steps when my feet started to burn from the cold and I yelped. Jumping a bit and then trying to look for something to climb on. But there was none.

I was still looking for a higher place when I was grabbed from my waist and lifted into the air.

I groaned - but grateful to be off the ground - because the Sparks told me just who was this being picking me up.

His big Lycan hand easily grabbed my waist as he made his way back into the cave with me trying to struggle. This seriously hurt my pride.

Just who did he think he was!?

Oh yeah . . . The Lycan King of course.

He dropped me on the ground and I rubbed my bottom.

"Asshole," I mumble.

He took a step closer and I glared,

"Stay away from me." I mutter but he gave me a look which clearly said, 'I listened to you once, no way am I staying away from you.'

He lowered himself and placed his large head on my soft belly and my heart skipped a beat.

I tried to push him off but right now my strength was equal to a human baby in front of him.

This is so wrong. I feel so guilty letting the enemy sleep on my belly.

But then I sighed and let him stay there - since his body was a great heater. I exhale and lay down as well.

I close my eyes and go into a dreamless sleep this time with a giant furry head on top of me.
