Chapter Sixty Five
"I understand you Nicholas, but if you something rash you will only make the situation worse. All the lives will still be destroyed but yours will be worse that it is now. Do you want Brian to grow up knowing that is father is in jail? Don't want the chance to raise your child?" Sarah asked. Nicholas felt tears in his eyes but wiped them away.
"He is sick, Sarah. I don't even know if he is going to survive or how long he has. The little time I would have had with him was taken away by het, by anger and by Ray," Nicholas said.
"Well that means you have to value the little time you have with him," Sarah said, and Nicholas nodded.
"Be safe, and please bring Astra home," Stephanie said. She was still unwell and weak, but she badly wanted to see her friend.
"I promise I will," Nicholas said.
"Throw in a few punches to Ray," Jared said, he was angry. Nicholas knew that Jared's anger could not possibly be more than his.
"I will, definitely," Nicholas said and turned back. For a moment, it felt like he was saying goodbye, like he was speaking his last words to the people he loved. Nicholas hoped that was not the case.
Nicholas got into his car and drive the police station. He looked for Detective Morris immediately.
"I only told you to inform you, you should not be here," Morris said immediately he saw him.
"You cannot tell me not to go Morris. I need to save Astra, I need to see the man that ruined my family. I cannot just sit by and watch everything just go by. You know this. I am sure you understand," Nicholas said and Morris nodded. In the next few minutes, Nicholas was dressed in gear, and early that morning, before dawn, they drove down the road through a very bushy path. The drove for more down an hour before they came in sight of a mansion. Nicholas could bet that Ray built the house in the middle of nowhere just for that particular purpose because why else would a house be built in the middle of nowhere?
Nicholas saw a few of them men go out and scout the area. He watched from inside the car when they launched a sneak attack on the men. Ray had a lot of men, but Nicholas watched them go down one by one. From his spot in the car, Nicholas saw a private jet. His mind flew as he reasoned it was Ray trying to escape.
"Is that not a jet?" Nicholas said to Morris whose eyes widened. The detective quickly called the team and made them look upwards. Scots of men began to troop to the roof of the house. Nicholas felt very useless with the troop of men around, but he was happy as they brought a lot of men. They easily overpowered Ray's men.
"We have him Sir," Nicholas heard someone say from Morris' phone. Morris smiled.
"Let's go in," Morris said and borh Morris and Nicholas came into the house. Nicholas looked around for Astra but he did not see her.
"She had been taken to the ambulance," Morris said and Nicholas realized then that his need to be with Astra was greater than his need to revenge at Ray. Nicholas was about to leave in the direction of the ambulance when he saw Ray. Ray did not look anything like the man he remembered. He looked absolutely out of his mind. Two men were holding him down, and he looked crazed.
"You bastard!" Nicholas said. His anger grew as he saw the man, again. Ray laughed as he saw Nicholas. The sound was grating on Nicholas' nerves. He moved closer to him. In what seemed like the speed of light, Ray pushed the policeman, brought out a gun, and fired the bullet.
Nicholas looked at Ray as he pushed the men holding him and brought out a gun. It seemed like something was holding him as he was transfixed to the spot. He stood there as Ray dashed out the gun and shot himself in the head. Nicholas moved then, he did not want the bastard to die. He did not deserve to end his life himself, he did not deserve not to be tried or even acquitted for all his crimes. Before Nicholas could get to Ray, policemen pushed him away and covered the bleeding man. What happened after that was confusing. Medics came from the ambulance and they declared Ray dead. It was all over.
Nicholas went then to find Astra, he was angry at how easy Ray's death was, but at least he was gone. When Ray managed to find Astra, she was lying down and she looked like life had left her eyes. She was opening her eyes but Nicholas could see that she had seen hell. Nicholas wanted to raise Ray from the dead and kill him again.
"He is dead Astra," Nicholas told her. She smiled at him. It was a small smile. It almost look fake, but it was the best that he would get from her for a long time.
"Thank God," she replied. Her voice sounded hoarse. Like she had been screaming for too long.
"Stephanie and Theo are fine," Nicholas continued talking to her. He needed to see some life in her eyes. She nodded and faced the other side.
"I met our son Astra. I am sorry," Nicholas said as she did not reply him. Astra turned to look at him, and then she nodded. There was no smile, no tears, just nothing. Nicholas hated it.

He was quiet for the rest to the ride. They finally made it to a hospital and Astra was rushed to be examined.
"She sustained a lot of injuries, a lot of bruises along her body. Because of the location of the bruises, we had cause to think that she was raped. We did an examination, and there are tears in vagina, blood and sperm," the doctor said. Nicholas closed his eyes and cried then. Astra had been through a lot. The bastard really needed to die again.
"It is a wonder that the baby is still fine," the doctor continued.
"Baby?" Nicholas asked. He was confused. Astra was pregnant. Nicholas knew that it could not be Ray, but it could very well be Jared. That would complicate a lot of things. Nicholas sighed and wondered why they had to go from one drama to the other in their lives. It occurred to him then that the child could also be his, there was a possibility that the child was his own. He had sex with Astra, without protection.
"We have treated her wounds and she has medicine to take. Physically, she will be fine. My concern is her mental health though, patients that go through things like this usually have suicidal thoughts after, and she is still pregnant. She has the life of another in her hands. We will get her a therapist and watch her for the next two days," the doctor said and left. Nicholas was still shaking when the doctor left. He still wanted to raise Ray from the dead and kill him again. "I am sorry," Detective Morris said to him. Nicholas nodded.
"What about Thompson?" Nicholas asked. He had seen the man that was once his friend, who was accused of making his company almost die, look life less, chained to a chair.
"He is conscious now. He said he was blackmailed, and seeing the way we found him, we have reason to believe him. We might have to talk to Astra though, she is a core witness in this case," Detective Morris and Nicholas felt angry.
