Chapter 22 How Dare You Hit Me
“What’s the matter?” Aurelia asked anxiously.

Phyllis had always been kind to others, possessing a gentle demeanor. No matter where she went, she managed to get along well with everyone. Aurelia wondered what had happened that could cause a change in the receptionist’s expression.
“Your mother just had an argument with a guest who was on his way to dine at the restaurant on the thirty–sixth floor while she was cleaning the elevator. Now, the guest has lodged a complaint with the hotel.” The receptionist was also somewhat anxious, speaking to Aurelia while simultaneously calling the hotel manager.
The hotel they operated had always prioritized service, taking complaints very seriously.
Although Phyllis had only been working for a month, she had a good relationship with her colleagues. They all liked the gentle Phyllis.
It was uncertain how the hotel manager would handle the complaint incident.
Immediately, Aurelia followed the receptionist to the elevator and arrived at the tenth floor.
Before they even reached the office, they could already hear the conversation inside.
“You must deal with her seriously. It’s one thing to be rude to guests in the elevator, but she event dared to lay a hand on my mother!”
“The diamond ring worth hundreds of thousands that I had in my hand is missing. There were only the three of us in the elevator. She must have stolen it. I demand that you search her.”
“Luna, you’ve gone too far with your accusations. I have never stolen anything from anyone. It was you who struck me first just now. I was merely defending myself.”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Aurelia abruptly stopped in her tracks.
Melanie, Luna?
Ever since the day she left the hospital, she hadn’t seen them. Apart from the day she bought the car, she had only seen Melanie and Curtis dating from a distance inside the car dealership, but she had never faced them directly.
Upon hearing the two of them relentlessly pressuring her adoptive mother, Aurelia pursed her lips, clenched her fists, suppressing the surging hatred in her heart, and quickly walked over.
“Phyllis, first apologize to the guest, then proceed with a search as per the guest’s request.” After the manager arrived, he dealt with Phyllis accordingly.
Phyllis didn’t expect that the manager would place all the blame on her without asking about the
course of events.
“If I can’t find the ring, I’ll expose the unscrupulous behavior of your hotel staff to the media,”

Luna declared, assuming an air of superiority.

Today, she was determined to make Phyllis understand that there were distinctions of rank among people. Since Phyllis had failed to educate Aurelia, she would take it upon herself to teach Phyllis how to behave.
Upon seeing Phyllis working as a cleaner in the hotel, Melanie, who was standing by, looked down on her even more. At the same time, she became even less inclined to return to her side.
She certainly didn’t want a mother who worked as a cleaner. If her friends found out, they would undoubtedly mock her.
When Phyllis saw that Melanie not only ignored her but also conspired with Luna to falsely accuse her, all the guilt and maternal love she once had for Melanie completely dissipated.
Her eyes were red, and she firmly said to the manager, “The situation isn’t as they described. They are falsely accusing me.”
“You should apologize first.”
The manager, looking at Luna and Melanie, both clad in designer outfits, simply didn’t believe Phyllis‘ words.
“I…” Phyllis‘ hands clenched tightly into fists. Ever since her husband’s death, she had endured countless hardships without shedding a single tear. But now, the humiliation of being wrongfully accused brought a flush of red to her eyes.
“You two should be the ones apologizing. There are surveillance cameras in the elevator. If I call the police now, they’ll immediately review the footage once they arrive.”
Aurelia looked at Luna and Melanie with a gaze as cold and piercing as ice.
She had seen them in all sorts of ways.
At that moment, even though they were dressed in their finest, they still looked ugly to her.
“Auri!” Phyllis was surprised to see Aurelia.
Aurelia approached Phyllis. “Mom, even if you work in this hotel, they have no right to search.
you
“Auri, do you even understand what you’re saying?” Luna asked sharply, her dissatisfaction. evident.
“Aurelia, it’s been so many days since we last saw you, and the moment you show up, you upset Mom. Isn’t that a bit too much?” As Melanie spoke accusingly, she scrutinized Aurelia from head

Aurelia paid them no mind and turned to the manager instead. “I am her daughter. I suspect that these two are deliberately making things difficult and framing my mother. If you won’t call the police, then I will do it right now.”
“Let’s not call the police just yet. Do you all know each other? Could there be some misunderstanding here? Let’s all sit down and clear up any confusion first. If we involve the police, it will only complicate matters further and make it harder to resolve,” the manager immediately persuaded with kind and persuasive words.
Luna’s face darkened. She stared at Aurelia and asked, “Don’t you know who your real mother is? Are you going to call the police and make things difficult for your own mother? I haven’t seen you for a few days, and you’ve become increasingly unruly and ill–mannered!”
“Blood ties can’t change anything. The kindness of raising someone surpasses that of giving birth. When you speak of me, have you ever considered Melanie’s outrageous actions? She could even falsely accuse her own biological mother. How is she any different from a murderer?” Aurelia retorted.
“What did you say? How could she compare to Mom? Aurelia, are you trying to drive a wedge between my mother and me?” Melanie’s heart pounded in shock. She hadn’t expected Aurelia to be so audacious.
I will never acknowledge her as my mother!
In a fit of rage, she strode toward Aurelia, her high heels clicking against the floor.
She raised her hand, ready to strike.
“Auri!” Phyllis exclaimed in surprise.
Aurelia seized Melanie’s hand, swiftly flipping her over with a deft counter move, and directly knocked her down.
At the same time, she pressed her knee against Melanie’s abdomen, rendering her completely. immobile.
Melanie could only resist by kicking her legs.
There was hardly any semblance of a well–bred young lady left in her.
One could even see the color of the underwear she was wearing.
“Aurelia, let go of me!”
The scene unfolded so swiftly that it left the people momentarily stunned. By the time the

Melanie’s head throbbed from the beating.
“Ah! Aurelia, this isn’t over between us. I’m going to call the police. How dare you hit me!” Melanie cried out. Her entire body ached along with her face.
Luna came to her senses and stepped forward, intending to push Aurelia away.
Phyllis stopped Luna. “The two younger ones are fighting. We as elders shouldn’t interfere.”

In her haste just now, she had forgotten that Aurelia had never been at a disadvantage when she was in the countryside.
Later, when she started high school, she was strictly forbidden to engage in physical altercations. with her classmates. Obediently, she refrained from resorting to violence..
No one knew who Aurelia had learned from when she was little. Those who had been hit by Aurelia would howl in pain, yet upon inspection, the adults could not find any injuries on these children.
Eventually, it was from Xavier that Phyllis had heard that Aurelia knew about the pressure points. on the human body, and she would target these when she hit someone.
In the eyes of others, Melanie’s crying and shouting seemed overly dramatic.
But in Phyllis‘ eyes, it was quite normal.
“What’s going on here?” A bone–chilling voice echoed from the door right then.
The few people in the office turned their gaze toward the door.
Upon seeing the man at the door, Melanie wanted to cover her face in embarrassment.
Aurelia, on the other hand, was somewhat surprised. Matthew? How did he end up here?
