The Heiress’ Hidden Alliance

Chapter 131

Chapter 131 Hannah Does Not Misjudge

Upon entering the residence. Aurelia noticed several gazes were cast her way.

Aurelia caught sight of Matthew first.

Matthew was dressed in a light grey tracksuit, radiating a refreshing, youthful vibe:

He looked over at her with a hint of gentleness.

Aurelia thought her eyes were playing tricks on her, probably brought on by his youthful appearance that day.

Or perhaps it was the deep affection displayed between Mabel and her husband that Aurelia returned an affectionate gaze to Matthew, not wanting to back down.

Matthew grinned subtly. Her performance is so convincing that anyone unaware will think we’re an inseparable couple. Although…

His gaze lingered for a few seconds on her eyes, which were full of tender affection.

When she smiled, her eyes curved delightfully as if they were twinkling with starlight. She appeared to be genuinely in love with him.

In response, his gaze deepened.

Auri, come here quickly,” Mabel warmly called out as soon as she saw Aurelia.

Aurelia immediately walked over. “Grandma.”

After Aurelia approached, Mabel introduced her to Joseph. “You must have met Joseph. He mentioned that you were restoring his ancestral painting.

“Old Mr. Delaney,” greeted Aurelia.

Then, she turned to look at Elijah and said, “Old Mr. Quill.”

Joseph chuckled as he nodded. “When I first met her, I wanted to introduce her to my grandson. To my surprise, she turned out to be your granddaughter–in–law. Back then, I couldn’t find anyone to restore my painting. Even Norman, as skilled as he is, said it couldn’t be fixed. Imagine my surprise when Aurelia said she could. I really didn’t expect that the younger generation is becoming more and more talented. You’re truly fortunate to have such a wonderful granddaughter–in–law, Mabel!”

Regret tinged his tone because if she were his daughter–in–law, he would undoubtedly show her off every single day.

Moreover, he guaranteed that not a single item in their home was counterfeit, and any broken ones could. be restored to their original state

“Of course, my granddaughter–in–law isn’t someone you can easily find elsewhere. I don’t know how many women out there are similar to each other, but there’s only one Auri,” Mabel said with immense pride.

After she finished speaking, she cast a glance at her own grandson.

deserved someone better. After all, Matthew had his fair share of issues and was a man of few words. Some might call him abstinent, but others might see it as a personality flaw.

Regardless, in her eyes, Aurelia was better.

“Indeed, Auri is truly exceptional,” Elijah chimed in. “A lot of what I once considered treasures turned out to be fakes. It’s not the loss of money that bothers me, but my wasted affection. I can’t believe I cherished them for so long.”

The trio’s compliments left Aurelia feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Although she wasn’t particularly sensitive, she couldn’t handle the constant praise from her elders.

Moreover, under Mabel’s shower of compliments, Aurelia could feel Matthew’s gaze on her.

It was as though he was determining whether she was as great as the elders praised her to be.

Aurelia glanced at Matthew, signaling him to stop looking at her.

With a raise of his eyebrow, Matthew moved to stand beside Aurelia.

The two of them standing together was quite a sight.

The three elders laughed even more heartily, especially Mabel.

“Let’s get down to business, Grandma,” said Matthew. He felt that if Mabel continued to flatter Aurelia, she might not be able to resist lecturing him. Earlier, she had been glancing between him and Aurelia, her gaze shifting rapidly. Who she was fond of and annoyed at was apparent.

Mabel shot Matthew a look. I’m not done showing Auri off yet!

She simply reveled in the sight of others envying her.

In her youth, she compared herself to others. Later, she compared her son to another’s son, then it was her grandson, and finally, it was her granddaughter–in–law.

“Auri, Joseph encountered a peculiar situation,” Mabel began. “He initially wanted to ask me if I could get in touch with Hannah, but no one knows her whereabouts. There are many people in Jacaster claiming to be capable, but they’re all just swindlers. See if you can handle this matter for Joseph. If you can’t, I’ll find someone else. Don’t stress yourself too much.”

Aurelia, too, withdrew her smile, her expression becoming serious. “All right, Old Mr. Delaney. Go ahead.”

Joseph nodded.

One would say not to air one’s dirty laundry in public, but everyone in the building was someone Joseph trusted, so he didn’t mind sharing his issue.

Matthew lowered his gaze to look at the sudden seriousness on Aurelia’s face.

Once she became serious, she radiated a kind of brilliance that others lacked.

“It’s like this. Lately, some peculiar things have been happening at home. My wife, Sarah, has been feeling unwell quite often this past month, constantly having nightmares. Not only that, our little great- grandchild would burst into tears every night, saving he was afraid. At first, we thought he was just being a

fussy child, or perhaps his recent bouts of colds and illnesses had left him feeling weak. So, this morning. when Sarah and my great–grandchild were chatting casually, they realized they often have the same recurring nightmare at night.”

After Joseph finished speaking, his expression became even more grim.

Joseph’s expression clearly showed that when he realized something was amiss, he was shocked and scared.

Frankly, Aurelia didn’t know much about supernatural or bizarre phenomena.

It was only because she read books on the topic that she realized many people were using cursed objects to achieve their goals.

None of those matters posed a challenge to Hannah.

“Did you suddenly acquire any new items in your house or that you carry on you in the past couple of months, Old Mr. Delaney?” Aurelia asked.

Joseph pondered with a serious expression, then shook his head. “There shouldn’t be.”

“I’m not an expert in this sorts of things, so I’m not entirely sure,” Aurelia admitted honestly. “I can visit your home to take a look, Old Mr. Delaney. If I can’t figure out the cause, you can always seek help from others.”

Joseph immediately asked, “Can we… Can we hurry over there now? In a little over an hour, my great- grandchild will probably start crying and saying he’s scared again.”

“Sure, let’s go right now,” Aurelia immediately agreed, believing certain matters shouldn’t be delayed.

“I think I’ll go take a look as well,” Mabel said, seeming a bit restless.

“Grandma, it’s best if you stay home. If things are as I suspect, it could be too much for your body to handle.” Aurelia comforted Mabel, then turned to look at Elijah. “Old Mr. Quill, you should also wait here for news.”

“All right.” Both Mabel and Elijah responded in agreement.

Given the circumstances, they both should stop tagging along and causing trouble.

“I’ll go too,” Matthew told Aurelia.

Aurelia glanced at Matthew. Noticing he was in good form that day, she nodded, appreciating his

company.

The two of them then accompanied Joseph out of the mansion.

Afterward, Elijah said to Mabel, “Hannah has never been wrong about people. Auri is truly a good person. Since this matter isn’t Auri’s specialty, if she really can’t resolve it, I’ll help Joseph find someone else to help him out.”
