The Hawthrone Heir(UNEDITED)

Chapter 2

To know what is right and choose to ignore it, is the act of a coward.

First Day, First Friend

Destiny

Ugh! I can't believe I'm this late for my first day of high school. What a great first impression I'm making! I thought to myself with a scoff, I should've listened to Blue when he said, 'Set your alarm clock an hour before you actually have to get up. God knows you're worse than German to wake up in the mornings.' I had laughed it off at the time, and now I'm a good thirty minutes behind.

I miss homeschooling. Lessons didn't start until 10 am, ending at 1 pm. Here, school starts at 8 am and ends at 3 pm. Who the hell needs so many hours to learn still baffles me. Relying solely on my GPS, I cautiously cruise my way to school, despite me being late. While munching on an energy bar, I see a kid about my age with a bloody nose on his baby looking face with his torn shirt hunching over the sidewalk. Being the person I am, I stop, pulling over, then ask the obvious question.

"Hey, need a lift? You don't look so good." I state when he clutched at his stomach groaning.

"I'm fine," he whispers.

Is this guy really going to use that line?

"Okay, I'm still giving you a ride to a bus station at least. Meanwhile, let me take a look at that nose and clean you up as best as I can." I tell him getting out of my car armed with my first aid kit and I'm rewarded with a shy, but beautiful smile. He's really a cutie with his deep blue eyes.

Taking off the ruined green polo shirt he has on, I start attending to his wounds, cleaning it up for it to heal quicker. He winced, once I applied a special made antibiotic cream. Tentatively wrapping his lower torso --- which had a nasty purple bruise before I started. It now has a duller shade. Discreetly, I take the time to appreciate his very tone and lean body. Especially his tribal tattoo on his right shoulder blade. I can also sense the power within him, it's not overly powerful, but more average of a werewolf. He's either an alpha's kid or a high ranking warrior.

"All done," I declare. "I've got a spare shirt in the backseat, it belongs to my brother and it's probably two sizes bigger," I add with a shrug.

"I don't mind, it's okay." He replies softly as his cheeks flushed.

He's so soft-spoken, I mentally awed at his blushing shyness. Packing up the kit, my eyes briefly caught a glance at my watch; my eyes widened at the time.

"Shit! I'm so late. Martha's gonna kill me, ugh." I shut my eyes tightly and groan. A second later, I open them only to see the guy's facial expression has changed from shy to confused. He must be thinking I've grown two heads. Oh, dammit. "I'm sorry." I smile sheepishly. "My name is Destiny."

"Luca Parker. It's nice to meet you, Destiny. Thanks for helping. But I'm almost at my destination which is Rosewood High," he says introducing himself while we shake hands.

Oh goodie. We're going to the same place! "Oh, good. I've found myself a guide. I'm new here. I'll also be attending there, but we're late as hell." I grumble, "hop in!" I insisted, directing him over towards the passengers' side.

"Let's go, Luca," I mutter, exiting my car once we arrived.

Walking towards the fancy stone-like building. It reads, Welcome to Rosewood High: Home of The Demon Wolves, in bold writing. Getting my schedule quickly from the main office, I realize I should be in English Class right now. Luca says he has French, so he directs me to my classroom with a quick "See you later", as he runs in the direction of his classroom.

Shuffling inside I enter into the light, sunset-like colored classroom, and immediately all eyes are on me. They look me up and down, accessing me with their eyes. Some looks were of curiosity, few with jealousy or envy, and some with lust. Talk about idiots. I mean all I'm rocking is a plain white undershirt, black skinny jeans, brown boots, my signature plaid cover shirt, which is red and black today, and a hat only because I wasn't in the mood to comb my hair.

"Well, you must be the new student. You're late." A voice says softly. Turning towards the front of the class, the teacher has her gentle gaze on me.

"I got lost for a while there, I'm sorry," I replied with a smile.

She smiles back, nodding in understanding. "Well, hello, my name is Hope. Hope Wilson-Turner and I'm your English and Literature teacher. I teach History too." She chirps and I chuckle.

"Destiny. Destiny Hawthorne." The moment my last name is mentioned, I see a flicker of recognition, sorrow, guilt, relief, and fear, all at once in her eyes. But It's gone as quickly as it came.

Hmmm. Well, that's interesting.

I also noticed a creepy-looking ass, who's been glaring at me with his amber-like eyes since he heard my last name. Sending him a deadly glare of my own, he looks away quickly with a hint of fear. That's right prick, you think your glare scares me. I smirk. Taking my seat beside a cheery-looking brunette. She looks about 5'5, a sweet next door girl kind of face with the most beautiful, and warmest set of light coffee eyes I've ever seen.

"Hi. I'm Alexis, I love your eyes. They're really pretty." She grins up at me and I wonder if she knows it's only contact lenses.

Giving her a smile along with a mumbled "Thanks", I get my stuff out of my bag. During class, I can literally feel the stares my way but I pay no attention to anything, other than today's lesson. I'm already half an hour late on my first day, I don't feel like adding more trouble to my list.

--------

Finally, it's lunchtime. I didn't eat anything, other than the energy bar this morning so I'm hungry as hell. Groaning once I see the three long lunch lines --- dragging my feet to join one either way with a sigh. The cafeteria is so fancy with it's royal red and silver colors, the benches are made out of what seems like crystal stones and posh seatings. Ancestors, this line is about two miles long! Well not really but damn, I'm starving. Hope I don't die before I reach the front.

Finally getting my food, which is my favorite thing in the world to eat --- good ole double cheeseburger, large fries, and a large coke. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this bad boy. Scanning the room in search of an empty table, but so far all of them seem to be occupied by specific looking groups. A few more glances, I spot an empty spot with no one occupying it. Rushing over towards it, I see Luca on my way, so I drag his stubborn behind with me.

"We should sit somewhere else Destiny." He says nervously, biting on his lip and fidgeting with his hands making me give him a 'what the hell look'. "It's Martin's seat." He mutters a bit shakily.

Who the hell is Martin?

"Oh yeah? Didn't see a name tag on this table." I reply sarcastically while savagely chowing down on my food. Seriously, what's up with dicks claiming school property.

Just then, the air changes to arrogance, dominance, and power. Oh an alpha, well soon to be alpha. I can feel it moving towards me and Luca looks like he's about to pass out making me scoff out loud by his ridiculousness.

"Well, well, well. Luca!" A raspy voice teasingly says. "It seems like you haven't told your hot babe --- I must admit friend here, who this section belongs to. Hey baby." The voice continued, but I'm yet to look who it belongs to.

Still eating, I see a blond, buff guy move towards Luca. He's about 6'1, sports a tribal tattoo --- that's peeking through his shirt. A sharp jaw and lots of muscles. He sits beside him, and that's when I sigh.

"You touch him and your fingers will be broken in a thousand pieces." I pause for a beat. "And that's just the start of what I'll do to you if you even move an inch closer towards him," I declared in a cold emotionless tone.

"Who the hell do you think you're talking to, you low life?" An annoying voice shrieks.

Whipping my head around, I come face-to-face with a redhead. Sensing her energy, she's a high power witch and that just irks me even more. With powers like hers, she can do good to help others that can't help themselves. Getting up and facing the group, I doubled up my fist, reared it back, and launched it at the banshee. A sickening crack rings out along with a scream as I punch her out cold.

Taking up my trash, I turn to a frozen Luca. "Luca, let's go. You're my guide and I need to get to the library," I tell him and he snaps out of his state of shock looking at me with such adoration then quickly leads the way with a huge smile.

Before I exit the lunchroom, I turn around towards Mr. Soon-to-be-alpha. "Next time, keep your banshee on a leash." I urge him, referring to the redhead who's sprawled on the ground out cold --- the cafeteria which had become dead silent, during the little scene. Now fills with murmuring and curious onlookers. A specific icy blue-eyed girl stares at me in odd fascination other than curiosity, she's also a witch. A very high powered one, more than that banshee redhead but I don't really dwell on it. I just walk out with Luca hot on my heels.

I really need to learn about the other covens and packs here.

"OMG! That was so awesome. No, that was freaking epic! No one's ever stood up for me like that in all my eighteen years of life! Except for my big brother and his friend Tyler, along with other family members. But here you are..." he says tearfully while hugging me tightly.

Damn, for someone who's so gentle-looking, he has a frigging death grip. "Hey, get yourself together. You're my first friend here, of course, I'll defend your scrawny ass on my first day." I snicker at his adorable pout.

Walking away grumbling about me being a bitch and ruining his awestruck moment and how he's not scrawny. I just follow the goof with a big smirk.

Oh yeah. We're gonna be great friends, I can feel it.

******

"DESTINY HAWTHORNE, PLEASE REPORT TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE." The booming voice crackles through the speaker, disrupting physics class --- automatically everyone's attention is on me. "DESTINY HAWTHORNE, PLEASE REPORT TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE." The voice continues.

Gathering my things, I shuffle out of the classroom, only to smack right into a solid wall at the door. Looking up, intense deep-blue eyes glare at me.

"Hey bro," I chuckle nervously.

"Mom and Dad are waiting for you in the principal's office, and I'm your escort." He retorts in a monotone.

Well damn, I'm surely gonna get it!
