Chapter 27 Forced Blind Date
Sitting in the resting van, Lindy thought for a while and picked up the script to read. It was rush hour, and the road in the downtown was blocked tightly. Lindy had plenty of time to read the script. Seeing that she was so focused, her assistant Yumi didn't disturb her and quietly browsed the micro-blogs.
Catherine took Muriel to the shopping mall to buy clothes. She was a star now, so she couldn't wear casual clothes. She had to build her own image.
Muriel was wearing casual clothes, sunglasses and mask, which covered most of her face and was hard to be recognized.
Suddenly, a familiar and old figure came into her sight. She frowned and turned around naturally.
The old man behind her looked at the back of Muriel's head discontentedly and said to the person next to him, "Nowadays the youngsters are absurd. Why do you dye your hair into silver? They are out of their mind."
The man could only give a wry smile.
Muriel didn't turn back until the old man walked away. She looked at his back with deep eyes.
What happened two months ago was still vivid in her mind. At that time, Muriel was still the leader of the special forces. After a mission, she was injured and returned to the team. She received the news that her grandfather asked her to go home.
As soon as Muriel returned home, the nanny immediately stepped forward to take her luggage. When her grandfather, who was reading newspaper in the living room, heard that Muriel had come back, he didn' move his eyes away from the newspaper. His granddaughter had finally come back home once in a year and a half, but he didn't go forward to welcome her with joy.
Muriel saw her grandfather reading newspaper in the living room. With an expressionless face, she went straight to the spiral staircase and was about to go upstairs.
"Son of a bitch! Where are your manners if you don't greet the elders when you get home?" Grandpa scolded angrily.
Muriel didn't change her expression. She turned around and walked to her grandfather. "I'm back."
"Sit down." Grandpa threw the newspaper on the sofa and looked at Muriel seriously.
Muriel sat on the sofa and looked at her grandfather. Her grandfather would not specially ask her to go home for nothing.
"You and I will go to Grandpa Zhou's birthday party tonight. The dress is ready in your room. We should be there by 6 p.m. You go to wash and dress up now." Joseph Mu looked his granddaughter up and down. He had left her in the army since she was a child. She had shoulder length hair, a well-proportioned figure, and a heroic spirit.
'It's lucky that she is energetic and looks good. Mr. Zhou must be satisfied with my granddaughter, ' thought Joseph Mu.
"Just a birthday party?" Obviously, Muriel didn't believe what her grandfather said. If it was just a birthday party, would her grandfather specially let her ask for leave and go home? 'Doesn't grandpa hate me being in his sight the most?'
"What do you mean?" A glint flashed through his eyes.
Muriel looked at him coldly and said, "Don't you want me to die in the battlefield to donate my life for the country? If it weren't for something important, you wouldn't want me to come back at all. If it's just a simple birthday party, you can take anyone with you. Why do you have to take me? It's not your style.
"You..." Joseph Mu didn't expect his granddaughter to be so difficult to fool, "Mr. Zhou has grown up, and his grandson Leonard Zhou has also reached the marriageable age. You two are both in the army, so you should have a lot to talk about. To put it bluntly, today I'll take you to a blind date. Behave yourself later. Don't embarrass me."
Sitting on the sofa, Muriel couldn't help clenching her fists. With a cold look in her eyes, she said coldly, "I won't go."
"You can't refuse it." Joseph Mu knocked heavily on the floor with his crutch.
Muriel glared at him. The wound on her shoulder was painful, but not as painful as that in her heart.
"No, I won't. If there's nothing important, I'll go back to the army." Muriel stood up and was about to go upstairs to get her luggage.
The little girl was getting more and more difficult to control. Joseph Mu angrily cursed, "Bastard! I did this for your own good. You should get married as soon as possible and support your husband and son. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in the gunshots?"
Muriel turned around and gave him a mocking look. "Don't forget who has caused this. Who threw me into the army when I was eight years old?"
"Bastard! What's wrong with you? Who are you talking to! You pissed me off! If it weren't for your mother, our family wouldn't have ended up like this! Would I become like this?" Said Joseph Mu angrily. "You have no right to mention my mother. It's all your fault that our family has become like this. It's all because of your greed for money!" Muriel said coldly, glaring at him with red eyes.
"If you don't attend Mr. Zhou's birthday party today, you won't be able to see Daniel."
What? Daniel? Muriel's face changed slightly. She immediately ran upstairs and pushed her brother's room open. The messy room was neat and tidy, and the dust on the table clearly told Muriel that no one had lived in this room for a long time.
Muriel rushed out of the room and ran to him. "What's wrong with Daniel? Where did you take him?"
"Humph! Go to Mr. Zhou's birthday party with me tonight. I'll tell you where Daniel is when I come back." Seeing the anxious look on Muriel's face, Joseph Mu felt relieved. Fortunately, he had caught her weakness.
"Despicable!" Muriel turned around and went upstairs angrily.
Hearing Muriel's words, Joseph knew that he had succeeded. Then he sat on the sofa in the living room, picked up the newspaper and read it carefully.
"Ring, ring, ring." The phone rang.
Joseph picked up the phone. When he heard the voice from the other end of the phone, the frown on his face instantly relaxed. He laughed and said, "She agrees. You are handsome. How could she not like you? She is so happy. I've given her the clothes. We'll be there on time. Don't worry.
"Okay, okay. I'll thank you for Muriel. See you later." Joseph grinned from ear to ear.
Muriel, who was on the second floor, stopped at the spiral staircase. When she heard the conversation between her grandfather and the man on the other side of the phone, a burst of anger rose in her chest. She returned to her room and picked up the red dress on the bed. There was a hollowed out dress behind it, which was a forward and sexy backless dress.
Muriel sneered. She was really good at choosing a backless dress. Did he want everyone to see his bruised back? There were countless knife wounds and gunshot wounds. Should she seduce him or frighten him?
Muriel threw the dress on the bed, opened her suitcase and took some important things. She didn't want the rest.
Muriel opened the window, checked the route and jumped to the ground from the balcony agilely. She came to the dead corner of the monitor and climbed over the wall quickly.
