Chapter 458
"Mr. Xavier? Anything else?" Caroline wanted to stay with Derek alone, but she couldn't ignore Derek's unfriendly gaze.
"Caroline, you should be glad that you are the granddaughter of my grandfather's old friend. Otherwise, I will not let you off the hook since you dare to frame my fiancée,” Derek said coldly. Caroline's face dropped uncontrollably, "Mr. Xavier, I don't understand what you meant.”
She immediately understood and said, "It must have been Miss Mason who told you something. I really didn't expect it. I already admitted that she hadn't pushed me. Why would she still slander against me?"
Derek narrowed his eyes, "Admitted? You mean you were indeed pushed down by Meredith?"
A malicious look flickered across Caroline's eyes. She lowered and shook her head, "I don't know. My memory of the details of what happened is a little hazy. I can only remember that we were arguing on the stairs at that time. Miss Mason was a little emotional.”
"Maybe she just accidentally pushed me down rather than intentionally did that..."
Derek looked at her. Nobody could know what was going on in his mind. He suddenly said, "What did you argue about?"
Caroline gave him a hesitant glance and said slowly, "Maybe Miss Mason was angry since she saw me in the Xaviers. She always said that I didn't have the right to live in the Xaviers and asked me to get out."
Derek nodded directly, "Meredith is right. It's quite inappropriate that you live in the Xaviers. However, it was a bit outspoken of her to say that. You just need to move out.”
Caroline: "..."
She suddenly looked up at him, and her face contorted for a moment.
Derek continued, "If she accidentally pushed you down for that, it was not a big deal. After all, people always lose control of their hands when strong feelings sweep over them. You can only blame your bad luck.”
Caroline: "...
She looked at him in disbelief, her face ashen. She was obviously shocked by what she had heard. How did this happen? Why would Derek think Meredith was right after she implied that Meredith pushed her? Was it all her fault?
How could he have such strange logic as the president of Xavier Group? Fury mounted and burnt inside Caroline, but she couldn't vent her anger and had to stifle it.
Derek looked at her with a sneer and turned to leave.
Since this woman was so fond of playacting in front of him, he could let her know his honest opinion. He'd like to appreciate how she continued to affect innocence.
Easton later learned about the sensational event that happened at the party. When he heard so many people besmirching his mother's reputation, he was so furious.
His anger, of course, would be vented on Caroline.
In his opinion, Caroline was an evil woman. It must have been her who framed his mother this time. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Easton had never been treated unfairly. Therefore, he would only try to take revenge instead of holding back his anger.
Today, unusually for him, he asked Violet to take him to the amusement park. Of course, Violet, an upper-class lady, would never go to such a crowded place.
However, when her beloved grandson endearingly requested her, her heart almost melted. When she felt reluctant to refuse Easton, she was suddenly inspired.
"Easton, let Auntie Caroline go the amusement park with you, okay?"
The more Violet thought about it, the more she felt that it was a good idea. Because of what happened last time, Easton must be resentful towards Caroline. It was now an opportunity for the two to develop a good relationship.
If Easton could have a good time with Caroline and like her, that would be great.
Caroline, who was standing beside her, immediately responded with a smile after a short while of bewilderment, "No problem. Easton, let me take you to the amusement park, okay?"
Even Easton had got what he wanted, he still pretended to be displeased and curled his lip, "Humph, have you ever been to an amusement park? Do you know how to play there?"
"Easton, you definitely know, right? You can teach me later, and I promise I will learn very seriously.” Caroline said softly, looking very obedient.
Violet looked at them with satisfaction.
"All right, you said it yourself. You have to play with me and can't go back on your word. Otherwise, it's not fun for me to play alone.”
Caroline did not take it seriously and agreed.
In her mind, what else could such a young child play at an amusement park except for things like carousels and trampolines?
Well, Caroline's impression of the domestic amusement park lagged well, so her trip today was destined to be miserable.
They arrived at D City's largest amusement park. Because today was a weekday, tourists were not as many as usual. But there were still a lot of people.
Among Easton's five bodyguards, only Adam and Andy were along with him. The other three just kept a distance behind him and protected him secretly. As soon as they entered the amusement park, Easton ran towards the dodgems with familiarity.
Caroline listened to the cacophony of screams of the children inside and the sounds of collisions. She felt very uncomfortable and unable to fit in with this place.
She had always stayed away from such a noisy and crowded place, but today she had to be here. "Let's go play with that." Easton pointed inside with a sudden gleam in his eyes.
Andy went straight to buy the tickets without saying anything.
Caroline didn't want to go in, so she forced a smile and said to him, "Easton, I think this game is too dangerous. Let's play another game. That's pretty good.”
Easton followed her finger and saw the merry-go-round. His face crumpled, and he looked at her with disdain.
"I didn’t expect Auntie Caroline to like such childish games. I have outgrown them.”
After he finished speaking, he ran directly into the dodgem's yard. Caroline had no choice but to follow him with a poker face.
Sitting in the narrow seat, Caroline didn't know how to put her hands and feet. She felt that there were no clean places at all in the whole dodgem.
Just as she was about to take out a wet tissue with a hard face to wipe the inside of the dodgem car, the car suddenly rushed forward. Caught off guard, she was hit in her back and screamed out. Easton looked at her from the corner of his eye and sneered in his mind. He held the steering wheel in his small hand and crashed into other dodgem cars.
However, Caroline suffered. Her screams and cries echoed through the yard.
"Easton, stop! Stop! I'm going off.”
Easton completely ignored her and hit other cars even harder instead. Unfortunately, there was a time limit to this game. In just a few minutes, Easton jumped out of the car.
Caroline's face almost twisted. She came down by holding the car door, and she even failed to care whether the door was clean.
Easton looked at her and curled his lips, "Auntie Caroline, you're so cowardly that you are scared of such a small car. If you hadn't screamed and disturbed me, I would have driven better."
