The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 297

"I'm fine, but you are not. I told you not to try to do anything stupid. Look, if I hadn't sent someone over, you would have been finished.”

Easton pretended not to care. But when Nora saw that he blushed with his ears going red, she knew he was lying.

He was obviously very concerned about her.

"Are you worried about me?"

"Well, don't flatter yourself, woman. I just don't want to be in debt to a stranger.”

Having been figured out, Easton was so angry that he almost exploded.

"Is that so? I seem to be fine. No need to to worry about me asking you for anything. Go and have some fun."

Nora thought the little guy was cute. He was obviously concerned about her, but he was so stubborn to admit it.

"I, I just pity you and I thought you might need some company.” Easton had been here for half a day, and it would made him look bad if he left like this, so he hurriedly said.

Nora's mouth curved with a faint smile when she saw that he was so eager to explain himself that he stuttered. However, it hurt even with the slightest movement.

Those people were really animals. How could they hit someone on the face?

"Why, are you in pain?" Easton was worried when he saw her look of pain.

Not to mention that there were some swollen spots and bruises on that pretty face, he felt guilty just looking at it.

It was all because of him.

"I'm fine."

Nora shook her head. When she woke up from that amnesia, she was much worse than she was now, so she didn't care about such minor injuries.

Easton was not convinced. This woman was so strange. She was beaten like this and she still thought she was fine.

Was she just saying that so he would not be worried?

Easton was suddenly touched and thought for a second before saying, "I'll go having someone bring you an ice pack. It'll make you feel better."

Nora wanted to save him the trouble, but the little guy had already jumped off the chair by the bed and ran out of the room.

Nora watched him leave, but she couldn't help but smile. Although this cute boy was tough on the mouth, he was actually kind.

For some reason, when she saw him, she suddenly thought of the child she had just found out about today.

If she had a child, he would have been this old.

She wondered where the child was now and how he was doing.

When she thought of the child, Nora's eyes were filled with melancholy.

Knowing that she had a child, she was at a loss. Where was the child and who was his father? These were unknowns, and the unknowns were often the scariest.

She was even worried about whether the boy's father was a decent man.

After all, it took her ten months before giving birth and it was naturally for her to care about the child.

Just as she was thinking, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door. Nora thought it was Easton, and she looked up but saw a straight figure instead.

It was a man in perfect shape, dressed in simple casual clothes, but not at all casual. A few buttons were opened casually, revealing a coveted pectoral muscle. His features were very similar to Easton's, but there was a bit of mystery and arrogance in his brows, a kind of authority that one would not dare to look straight at.

Nora was in a trance, and a strange feeling in her heart made her stare at the man for a while. Derek saw her eyes glued on him, but he was not angry somehow.

With a light cough, he interrupted her trance.

Nora reacted awkwardly. What happened to her?

It was not that she had never seen a good-looking man before. How could she have lost her mind when she saw this man? It was really embarrassing.

"Are you... Easton's family?"

Nora guessed so because this man was so much like Easton, and she wouldn't believe if they were not related.

"I'm Easton's father. Thank you for saving him."

Derek walked in with an aristocratic air.

"My name is Nora."

After thinking for a second, Nora gave him her name.

Derek nodded, inexplicably disappointed, and then his eyes fell on the woman's face.

The person sitting on the hospital bed had changed into a clean hospital gown, and the dirty and torn clothes had been thrown away by him.

Perhaps, because she was too small, she wore that dress as if a child was in an adult's. It hung loosely on her body, and her collarbone was clearly exposed, reminding Derek of the way he felt when he picked her up.

He didn't expect such a weak woman to have the guts to stand up for a child she had never met before.

Nora was a little uncomfortable with Derek's gaze. She glanced at him and Derek was stunned. These eyes..

Her eyes were beautiful, similar to those of the woman in his memory, but there were some subtle differences.

When Derek tried to get a closer look, Nora lowered her head.

She felt uncomfortable being stared at.

What the hell was he looking at?

Was he worried that she was up to something?

But why did his gaze make her feel so familiar?

"Well, I'm just trying to help him out because he's so cute that I can't ignore him. Don't worry, I have no other intentions.”

Easton's name, wrapped around the tip of her tongue, was inexplicably likable to her.

Easton, Easton, was that name meant for him to have a carefree life?

It was a nice name.

"You misunderstood. I don't have any doubts about you.”

Derek explained for he did not understand what the woman was thinking sometimes.

Did she have no idea who she was?

If it was someone else who saw him appear, even if she did not go crazy about him, she would certainly ask for a generous reward, right?

After all, in J City, no one would not know what the name Derek meant.

"You saved Easton, and you're his benefactor, so you can ask for anything you want, even if it's too much. I can still satisfy you."

This confidence was a little overbearing. If someone else said it, Nora would think he was ridiculous. But... Looking at the man’s deep and reserved eyes, she inexplicably believed it.

With such a distinguished demeanor, his words were indeed quite convincing.

However, she really didn't want to get paid. After all, she helped Easton only because she liked him. But just as she was about to speak, her head hurt. The pain was abrupt and intense. It was killing her. She could not say anything but frown.
