The Goddess of Beasts.

Chapter Chapter Twenty Eight.

I am at the top of the stairs, with sweaty palms. Praying that I am not going to fall while descending from the stairs. My future mother in law told me to wait for about five minutes. She was going to make sure Alexander was near the stairs so he will be able to see me descend. The Queen said she wanted to see his face when he saw me climb down the stairs. She promised that he will be begging me on his knees to be back with me by the end of the night.

Taking my last breath I started to go down the stairs. All of the supernatural people stopped to look at me. Just like the Queen said, I was slowly walking down. Holding on to the railing for dear life. Looking through the crowd that is when I saw him. Alexander made his way slowly to the bottom of the stairs. His eyes shining in amusement. Adrastea, Janus, Zaiden, the King, and the Queen; also looking at me. A smile stretched across their faces.

The music was off and a spotlight was shining towards me, pretending I did not notice I kept my eyes set on Alexander. When our hands touched sparks ran through my entire body making me feel a bit more confident.

“Ayla, you look stunning.” Helping me on the last few steps down.

Music started to play once more, people lingered around watching the exchange between Alexander and me.

“Thank you, Happy birthday.” Giving him a small kiss on his cheek.

Happiness exploded through his body. He gave me the largest smile that I have not seen in a long time. Without a word he led me to the dance floor, people surrounded us, dancing with their partners. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Adrastea and Janus having a normal conversation. Zaiden is already sucking on some vampire’s face. The King and Queen sat on their thrown watching as the party unfolded.

“So how old are you?” I finally asked hopefully breaking the ice between us.

“I just turned 121 today, I know I am old compare to you.” Joking, while we danced.

“I just stopped aging, I am 121 years behind you.” Laughing at my joke.

“ Well, 120 and ten months.” Twirling me.

“The whole point is that you are old, I am just a baby compare to you,” I said, as he pulled me closer to him. Making me nervous all over again.

We danced to a few more songs. My body was on fire with all of the sparks, going through my body. I had missed the feeling. But I promised myself that I was going to make him work.

“Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention? Thank you, I just wanted to congratulate my son for 121 years. Happy birthday, son! I am also stoked to announce that my son, your future king found our future queen. Yes! My son has found his Kindred Soul. Our lovely Ayla. Welcome to the family.” The crowd went wild.

“Can we give welcome them to the throne, our future king and queen! Alexander and Ayla!” The King shouted through the microphone.

Queen, me the future queen. If I accept him, then I will have to rule Garmoniya. My heart started to beat faster as we got closer to the throne, where the king and queen are currently waiting for us. With crowns in hand. The one that King Cedric was holding was meant for Alexander. It was black metal with black diamonds. Queen Cressida held which assume it was mine. It is much smaller than Alexander’s. It was also a black crown with amethyst diamonds.

Adrastea stood to the side clapping with a large smile on her face. Wearing her shiny crown. Did she have that on the whole time?

The whole crowd cheered when the Queen and King placed the crown over our heads. When I looked forward I didn’t realize there were so many people looking at us. My heart started pounding once more, if the crowd was not so loud I am pretty sure I was able to hear it from outside. But when Alexander placed his hand on the small of my back, my body immediately relaxed. People continued to cheer, and I couldn’t help but smile.

Maybe it is a good thing, maybe I meant to rule Garmoniya. Maybe I am meant to be happy, but it is going to take time and work. The future king of Garmoniya is going to have to curt me until I know that he won’t hurt me again.

The dance floor opened up. The king and queen headed to the dance floor and started dancing, after a couple of minutes Alexander dragged me to the dance floor and we were dancing along with his parents. We both just gazed into our eyes, his eyes have not, stop shinning all night. His eyes kept traveling down to my red lips. Under the low light and soft music, it is almost impossible not to kiss him.

“May I,” King Cedric interrupted our dance.

“Sure.” Alexander handed me off to his father.

“Are you having fun so far, dear?” King Cedric said.

We talked for a couple of minutes before the music died down. Everybody surrounded Alexander and started singing. They rolled a cake in front of him. I slowly backed away, I needed fresh air. The party has been going on for about three hours now. And the only thing that I have done is dance all night with Alexander and his father.

When I walked out to the terrace I saw my reflection on the glass, my hair and make-up seem to still intact. I have been having fun, but somehow I can’t help feeling as if something bad is going to happen.

Somehow, something bad always happens. It always does. When I am being close to being happy; something comes crashing down. I decided to call Daniel but there was no response. Instead, I received a text message saying that everything was okay and that I should be enjoying myself.

Maybe I am just being paranoid. I am probably creating problems in my head where there is none. Can’t I stop overthinking and just be happy?

“Are you okay my love?” Alexander said, standing next to me looking into the beautiful garden. Although it was dark outside, the whole yard was illuminated by twinkle lights.

“Yes, no, I don’t know.” Shivering from the cold. Without hesitation, Alexander took off his jacket and placed it over my shoulders.

“What do you mean you don’t know? Is there something going on that I am not aware of? Did I do something wrong?” Holding my small hands in his large ones.

“No, it is not you. I just have this gut feeling that something bad is going to happen. But don’t mind me I think I am just going crazy.” I said, looking back at the garden.

“We, um… still kind of need to talk about last night.” Alexander cleared his throat, trying to get my attention.

He was right, we still needed to have the conversation I was dreading to have almost all day. But it was time to give him my answer. The problem is, will he accept? Would he be comfortable working for us, to show me that I can trust him with my heart?

“I am going to accept you back b…” Alexander lifted me from my waist and started spinning up in happiness. Making me giggle like a schoolgirl.

“I am not done.” Smacking him on the head. But he did not let me go.

“I am taking you back, but it won’t be easy. You are going to have to work to earn my trust and love back. I am not going to lie. You hurt me bad, and it is going to take time. If you are willing to do that then we are fine.” Hoping he will not change his mind.

“Of course I will accept. I have been needing you since the day I said those stupid words to you. And I am truly sorry, I will be willing to show that to you every single day, until the day I die.” He slowly lowered me, squeezing my hands in reassurance.

Out of nowhere, Alexander’s large hand was on my face. Pinching my chin made me look into his eyes. Our eyes met causing me to freeze in the spot. I don’t know if I am ready for this. He slowly started to lean in when my phone started ringing.

Daniel’s picture took over the screen, and my heart sank.
