The Goddess of Beasts.

Chapter Chapter Thirty One.

Day after day I wake up gasping for air, praying that I am still alive. Casimir was determined to know if I was a wolf. He needed to know how I have been living day after day. Injecting me with wolfsbane which is said to hurt wolves. Denying me food or water. To my calculations, it was been a total of fifteen days that I have been here. Using me as their guinea pig. If it wasn’t because of Lucien sneaking a piece of bread once in a while I would have died from hunger about a week ago. Only allowing me to shower every three days. The good thing that I showered yesterday, but I was only allowed ten minutes to shower.

Due to all of the unidentified things that they have been injecting me, I am too weak to contact my mothers. I am still trying to come out with a plan, so all of the hunters can forget about the supernatural creatures. So, we all can live in this world without having to be afraid of anything. But if I cannot make them forget, maybe I can convince King Cedric to welcome them back in that realm.

“How is it that it is still alive? Shouldn’t it have died when we gave her all of those things that kills werewolves?” Casimir yelled at the scientist.

“Sir, it is possible that she is human. I drew out blood this morning, it only shows that she has been intoxicated with wolfsbane, which causes her to pass out. Having a fever. Which is a way of telling us that the body is fighting the wolfsbane to keep her alive.” A woman in the white coat said.

“Father, you need to stop this. She is not a wolf shifter. SHE is human. This is the girl that my mother and sister would use to make her life miserable. Samantha told me herself. One thing is killing the shifters, and another is killing a human girl.” A far way voice started yelling, I knew it was Lucien.

He was the only one that had the guts to yell at the leader, without fear.

“He is right, Sir. If she is human and all of the tests prove it, we must let her go. We can kill her and that is where I draw the line.” The same woman in the white coat said.

“No! She knows something about those wolf shifters. And I will get to the bottom of this. And you! You will tell me the truth. No more lying. I know you know something about the shifters. Don’t play dumb with me.” Casimir said pointing in my direction. Causing me to squirm further back into the wall.

He was angry, veins popping out of his forehead. His face all red. If he were a dog his mouth would be fuming. Why was he so determined to find out about the werewolves? What did they do? The woman in the white coat looked at me with pity. Lucien looked angry, but he was looking behind me, deep in thought. I looked down quickly before he could see me staring at him. I noticed my legs were covered in cuts and bruises. My arms weren’t an exception. If you looked closely you can see the holes the needles left behind.

I looked around the darkroom trying to get an idea of how to escape. I overheard the people in the white coats that Casimir is going to put the silver bullet to the test. I did not know if I was able to die. My heart started to pound in fear, I quickly stood up pulling Lucien against the silver bars.

“You need to help me out. I promise if you help me get out of here I won’t go to the police. I just want to leave this town and never come back, please.” I begged, whispering only loud enough for him to hear. But what surprised me more was his nod.

“Leave it to me, but once we are out of here go straight home, and leave,” Lucien said before walking away.

He is going to help me! But how? How in the hell are we going to get out of here. For the past few weeks, all I did was plan a way to escape, but I never got the chance. Whatever they inject me with leaves me too weak to run. Even if I tried, they will easily catch up with me. Bringing me back to this hell hole. Punishing me further. I tried catching a normal sleep, just enough so I can run. I did not know if he meant it. Somehow I trusted him.

We had approximately four hours before they take me out of this cage; strapping me to a metal bed. It was only a matter of minutes before I was dancing between darkness and reality. Praying that they don’t drug me, just enough so I have the strength to communicate with my mothers. But there is no use in trying so far. I curled into a ball, closing my eyes hoping to get some sleep.

Drowning the background noise I fell asleep instantly, but it was not a peaceful sleep. Every so often I would open my eyes hoping that the Dr. isn’t coming to get me. Fighting between consciousness and sleep. Sleep won.

I slept for about two hours before being woken up with a violent shake. Making me jump back to whoever was waking me up.

“Shh, it’s me, Lucien. Hurry up we have to get you out of here.” Lifting me in his arms as if I weighed nothing.

“How are we going to get out of here?” I asked getting off his arms, only needed support while I ran along his side.

“I somehow convinced my dad to create a ceremony that everybody will enjoy, ‘killing’ you. That is the distraction we have about twenty minutes before they all get here.” Running throughout while hallways, making our way to my freedom.

I ran as fast as I could, if this was my only chance of freedom; so be it. We continued running until the cold air from outside hit my face. A smile spread across my face. Freedom at last. But we were not running as fast as we wanted. When I looked over my shoulder you can hear cars pulling up to the creepy building.

“You are going to need this. I cannot help you further than this. I need to pretend that I just got here.” Lucien showed me a needle with a clear liquid in it.

“No! What is that? I don’t want any more drugs.” I said pushing it away. Hiding safely behind a tree.

“It is an amphetamine. It is a strong dosage, only strong enough for you to have enough energy to run as far as you can. If you can run to your house that is better.” Lucien said, without a warning, the needle was stabbed on my leg causing me to shriek in pain.

He told me that it will give me energy; he was not wrong. In the past fifteen days of sleep that I miss was vanished. My body felt alive, but there was no time to waste. Lucien pushed me to start running I whispered a quick thank you before funning as fast as I can. But it was not like I had grown accustomed to. I was running like a human. I looked back and Lucien was no longer there. I owe my life to him. Let’s just hope I do not run into anything else.

My feel felt numb with pain and because of the cold. I couldn’t stop. I didn’t stop. I didn’t know where I was exactly, but I kept running. Dodging the trees the bushed. Turning every so often hoping I get somewhere I recognize. But if I have enough energy to run will I have the energy to teleport at least to the Daimos house?

I stop. My breathing came out as pants. Watching the smoke come out when my hot breath would touch the cold air. I took a deep breath to steady myself, and focus. The first place that came to mind was Alexander’s darkroom. I remembered how I felt safe in there although he was not there with me. I thought of the warmth of the room. I extended my arm hoping I created a portal.

When I opened my eyes the forest was illuminated with a bright circle, meaning the portal work.

“Hurry! We need to find her!” A male voice yelled.

“How the fuck did she escape?” Another man yelled. By the looks of it, the hunters moved fast.

“Over there! What is that?” The first guy yelled. I looked over the shoulder and saw the flashlights moving crazy my way.

In a panic, I ran through the portal landing on Alexander’s hardwood floor. I did it. I am safe. Tears filled my eyes, but they were tears of joy. I was relieved that I was able to come back to the place I called home for a while. Dropping to my knees I curled into a ball and cried.

“What was that?” I hear the voice I have wanted to hear for the last few days.

“I don’t know it came from your room.” Could it be that they were all here?

I ran to the door when I opened it I saw all of my friends and my Kindred soul; with bags under their eyes. Confused they just looked at me as if they had seen a ghost. A brand new set of tears rolled my eyes. They are all here.

“Ayla?” Daniel asked afraid.

“Danny.” I ran up to him hugging me tightly.

“How?” Alexander whispered.

“I am so sorry, I am so sorry, we have been looking like crazy day and night. I am sorry.” Daniel said through his own sobs. Still hugging each other we fell to our knees.

“Don’t be stupid. It was my decision. I wish I could have helped all of you.” I held his face with my small hand wiping away his tears.

“You helped a lot, my pack might not be alive right now if it wasn’t for you. But I think you should say something to your soul.” Danny said with a soft smile.

Smiling back, I quickly hugged everybody. They all shed a tear or two. Alexander he just looked at me in disbelieve. My hair is a mess, my legs are full of mud, cuts, and bruises. No words needed to be said, I grabbed his hand and walked back into his room. Lighting up the room I looked into his crystal blue eyes and all I saw was sadness. His eyes started to turn bright red from the tears he is trying to hold back.

We just stood in his room hugging each other not wanting to let go. I am back home.
