Chapter 1783
"Transparency, you say?"
Frank laughed coldly and raised his chin proudly as he pointed at Huub, bellowing with righteous indignation, "Then what are you going to do about Huub Droitner, who's representing Droitner Inc. in collaborating with foreign businesspeople to smuggle and sell national treasures and artifacts?!
"Huub Droitner has also burned down my mansion in Zamri and abducted my family as hostages to coerce me into handing over my possession. Why do you think I traveled all the way here?! I'm a reasonable man, and you're claiming that I'd come looking for him for no reason?!"
"What?!"
Leino was left frowning at Frank's accusation.
Naturally, as the police commissioner of Bralog, there was no way he would not know about Droitner Inc. smuggling and selling national treasures and artifacts.
In fact, he had already made a deal with Paul in secret-one might even say those national treasures and artifacts had only made it abroad because Leino agreed to it.
Leino had also received a fat check for his troubles, which was why he lowered his eyes and glared at Huub angrily right then, sending a chill down Huub's spine.
He had already told Droitner Inc. that if they were to continue their shady business, they must keep their hands clean-they could not leave any evidence that could be traced back to them.
If anything happened, they were all going to fall together, because this mess would not be something a humble police commissioner like him could cover.
As such, Leino's glare was nothing less than accusing Huub for allowing Frank to find out about their shady dealings.
Still, Huub was himself aggrieved he had made sure to bring a legion of bodyguards when he brought the foreign businesspeople, keeping the exhibition visitors ten meters away. How could Frank have heard them when he was so far away?
But considering how Frank had basically demolished the exhibition hall with a single punch, Huub decided that Frank must have superhuman hearing and could spy on them. It was not like he could have done anything there...
Still, as Leino continued to glare at him, Huub was experienced enough to see that he must deny everything.
Looking up as everyone watched, he cried miserably, "No, Godfather, that's slander! I was never involved in smuggling and selling national treasures and artifacts! I just
brought some friends from abret
since they admired our exhibition! I swear... lightning shall strike me where I stand if I'd ever intended to sell our national treasures!"
Boom!
Right after Huub finished, a deafening crack of thunder resounded in the bright skies! The thunder left Huub flinching, and even the onlooking crowd were gaping in disbelief. "It's not thunder-just the pillars crumbling," Leino quickly said.
He was certainly experienced, pointing at the pillars to distract the
crowd when they were getting!!!
suspicious.
"Oh... I see! So the building is falling apart!"
"I actually thought that it was thunder for a moment. That's so scary..."
"You think? A thunder would mean that Mr. Droitner is lying."
"You're kidding-Mr. Droitner would never lie. If he did, there'd be a comeuppance."
Leino could certainly hear the crowd's comments, but he had to clean up Huub's mess just to protect himself.
"Frank Lawrence, right?" he asked
haughtily, glaring at Frank. "I can
personally testify against both your accusations. Droitner Inc. is a legitimate company, and they are
only selling quality replicas abroad."
