Chapter The False Oracle
I follow the man to the hotel room. I’m sure he tells me his name but it slips through my mind. The hotel room is simple but it has two beds o it doesn’t matter. I end up telling him why I came to New York and that I was going to be looking for a job in the area.
He then tells me that a friend of his is looking to hire someone. I know I probably shouldn’t. I know where this leads, but I cannot seem to pull myself away from it. I agree to meet with her and set a time for a few days.
Wednesday, August 11: Washington Square Park
I walk into the park, carrying everything I own with me. Today is the day I meet her. I keep asking myself why I am doing his, but I do not know. She wont be here for a few more hours, so I decide to find a place to relax in the grass.
The park is packed, with people walking and visiting the venders. There is a large arch in the front of the park and a fountain in the center. The fountain is so big that people are sitting in it. Its nice to just sit here.
When she finally arrives, I recognize her immediately. I approach her with a smile. “Hi, I’m Ceres.” She smile immediately and hugs me. “Its nice to meet you, I’m Hera.” Hera is dark skinned with pink hair and bright green eyes, and yes, I came here fully intending to change the future.
"I sell jewelry and I do tarot readings. Would you like me to give you one?" I find this amusing and I agree, knowing she will only be able to see the most basic information. " I see that you are leaving a situation where you were someone's control." That was the past card. "Currently, you are very generous, sometimes giving so much that you hurt yourself." That was the present. "Your emotions are all being held back, in the near future, those emotions will break free, if you don't start to express them."
Little does this woman know, but she can only see what I show her. I can see her soul and I can feel her greed, but I can also feel her desperation. I can feel her pain. I know the future and yet, I can not stop myself from trying to save her. I will do anything to stop the horror that I saw in my dreams.
