Chapter 68
Kylan felt Jonah shuffle awake as he sat up from the bed. He did not say anything as he stood from the bed and headed for the closet. It was only when he came out that Kylan said, "Maybe you shouldn't go to work. We should talk about it."
"No."
That was all Jonah said as he headed for the shower.
After he was done and returned to the bedroom for a few of his belongings, Kylan tried again, "Jonah, just stay home today." "Hmm."
He left the bedroom and headed for the kitchen. Their conversation had gone extremely south, and although they slept in the same bed, Jonah not once grabbed hold of Kylan. Instead, he slept on his side, his back towards Kylan, as if he didn't exist.
Kylan stood from the bed and headed for the kitchen as well, finding Jonah munching on food. He did not even glance upwards when he heard Kylan's footsteps, and when Kylan stood near him, he did not acknowledge him whatsoever. "Jonah," Kylan said, "please stay home today."
"No," his tone was cold, and he placed his bowl into the sink and washed his hands.
He found his briefcase in the living room and did not even glance towards Kylan once as he headed for the door.
Kylan was not letting him leave, and he approached him again, "Babe, we can work this out."
"Hmm."
"Why aren't you responding to me? Say something else, please."
Jonah chuckled, turned to Kylan for a moment before simply rolling his eyes and opening the door. However, Kylan reached for his arm, "I don't want you to leave "
"Don't fucking touch me," Jonah slapped his hand away, a bit harder than he had thought it would be.
Kylan's eyes widened, but he tried again, "Please."
"I said don't touch me," Jonah pushed him away, and Kylan's back slammed against the wall.
The glare in Jonah's eyes filled with hatred was something he had never witnessed before. However, being pushed was enough for Kylan to burst into flames himself.
"We're in a fucking relationship, and you don't want to talk about it?!"
"I don't want to talk to you right now!" Jonah screamed, waving his hands.
"I'm begging you—"
"I don't give a fuck, Ky! Give me some time, leave me alone!"
"No," Kylan reached for Jonah's arm, and Jonah again pushed him apart.
Kylan, this time fell to the ground.
"You broke my heart, Kylan!" Jonah screamed, extending his palm to help him up, "I'm sorry I pushed you but just leave me alone."
"No, I'm fine."
Jonah exhaled a sigh when he watched Kylan stand to his feet and turn around to walk away, "Kylan, I didn't mean to push you. Let's just talk later."
"When you come back, I won't be here. I promise you that—"
"Why the fuck can't we talk later?" Jonah was livid, stepped back into the home, and followed Kylan as he walked away, "If you want to talk now, then fine but don't be crying over what I say since I'm still angry." Kylan twirled on his heels, "You think I'm some weak little boy that can't take you, Jonah? Tell me what's up, straight to my face."
"Okay, then you want to know what I think?" Kylan nodded his head challengingly, squinting his eyes as Jonah chuckled, "I think you're a joke. You think you can talk bad about everybody, from my family to Leah-" "Homophobic, and the other was a parent at 16—"
"Shut up!" he screamed, "You talk bad about everybody but then preach about your own mental health and want people to feel bad that you were ill once and everyone turned on you." "That's not true at all."
"It is true. You cut yourself because of us. We had a fight, Ella stopped talking to you, your Dad didn't even fucking like you, and that's why you felt the need to self-harm." "You have no right to talk about that—"
"But then now, you say shit like call Jacob a baggage and Leah a whore; how the fuck do you think she feels hearing that? You don't think she's going to go home and repeat those words to herself over and over again? But then you act like you're the only victim in the situation."
Kylan rolled his eyes, "She's not a victim."
"We both made Jacob. We both fucked up. The fact that you could even use my son as leverage for an insult and call him fucking baggage says a lot about how you feel about me."
"It's the goddamn truth!"
"No, it's not the truth, you don't know anything about Jacob!" he cried, slamming his fist against the wall, glaring into Kylan's challenging but twitching eyes, "And if you believe that, then you don't know anything about me either!" "I know you," Kylan hissed, "that's why what I'm saying is probably what is true."
"No, it's not Ky!"
"And why are you taking her side?"
"You're disrespecting not only my fucking son but the mother of my child. My entire life is revolved around them as well, and it takes a lot to hear what you're saying about them. I don't know what's up with you lately; have you been taking your meds?"
"Have I been taking my meds?" Kylan scoffed, "So you think I'm just crazy now, and I can't have normal fucking thoughts?"
"You know what? Yes, I do. I think you're delusional, and I think you're so dependent on me and think that with everything you got, you can go around acting all high and mighty when the reason you're this wealthy is fucking because of me. I'm the one carrying you, Kylan."
"It's a relationship. You told me not to work-"
"That doesn't matter. You're nothing without me, so stop acting like you are."

Kylan paused for a moment, and that was when Jonah realized his eyes were teary. Then he bit his bottom quivering lip and said, "We should break up. We're toxic for one another."
"Stop fucking giving up!" Jonah shouted at the top of his lungs, "You're always so ready to give up and turn on me! I love you, alright? The fact that I stayed when I didn't want to means a lot. I'm not even at work right now because of you." "But we just keep fighting, and it's draining."
"And I could never leave you. We can work this out, Ky." Jonah shook his head, "But if that's what you want to do, then let's break up."
"Jonah I-"
"But if we do, I'm never coming back to you again. This relationship, that's the end."
Kylan inhaled sharply.
"So say it again, and I'm gone. Are we done?"
It took a few minutes before Kylan replied.
It was quiet, reluctant, but he whispered, "Yes."
"We're breaking up? For good?"
He nodded his head, "I'm sorry-"
"Say yes," Jonah squeezed his eyes shut, "I need to hear it." His eyes were also teary, and his bottom lips were quivering.
Kylan finally repeated, "Yes."
Immediately afterward, Jonah stormed past him to the bedroom, grabbed a bag, and filled his clothes in it. Kylan did nothing but remain where he stood, and Jonah returned with a bag of clothes over his shoulders. He stepped past Kylan, "You can stay here. It's fine. Don't contact me."
With that said, he slammed the door shut and disappeared.
