Chapter 60
Bradley had stayed at Miles' mansion, and Miles immediately knew why.
"I knew it was a bad idea to let you go with her," he chuckled while shaking his head. "Sierra didn't seem like she had good intentions."
Bradley leaned over the counter, watching the smoke twirl above his coffee. "It wasn't even like that, though. I didn't cheat on my girl. Sierra kissed me. I pulled apart right away."
"But you put yourself in a position to be kissed. Women don't walk around randomly kissing men; you made her feel entitled and able to do so."
"I mean, I was being nice. She was telling me her entire "
"Let me guess, her father passing away story?" When Bradley's eyes widened, Miles tilted his head, "Don't get me wrong, it's true. But you're not the only man she's ever used that on. She's been really depressed from it, so I assume this is her way of feeling loved since she has no one, basically."
He had a terrible hangover, and staring at his coffee cup was making his stomach turn. "I don't know what to do at this point. She threw her ring back at..." Bradley stopped talking since he felt himself begin to choke on tears and shook his head, closing his eyes for a moment.
Miles shrugged his shoulders, "I know you're a good man, and Sierra took advantage of your drunken self. And you didn't cheat. You pulled away when she kissed you; it's clear you love her. So just remind her of that, and fight for her back." Bradley left Miles home in the afternoon. Miles had handed him a change of clothes, and he carried his own in a plastic garbage bag. When he reached his apartment, he was not surprised when he found most of his belongings outside the door. However, it also angered him that she was not taking the time to at least listen to him before lashing out.
He inserted his key, and the moment he entered the home, the tense atmosphere made it difficult to breathe. He did not call for Ella's name, and when he reached the kitchen, he found her with a bowl of cereal in her hand.
Ella's eyes were swollen; it was clear she had been crying earlier. She appeared in distress but wanted to play it cool as if the whole situation was not bothering her. As if all she wanted was to forget about him and act as if the relationship had never happened.
Bradley was the first to speak, "Hey, babe."
"Did you see your things outside the door?" When Bradley nodded his head, Ella said sternly, "Then leave."
"So we can't even talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" Ella chuckled incredulously, "I saw what I saw, and I heard what I fucking heard."
"What the fuck do you mean? You heard what?"
"You didn't think she was sexy? That her lips were ravishing? That any man would be dying to have a chance with her?"

Bradley sighed, "I know it looks bad, but I was just trying to make her feel better; I was drunk."
"So now it's alright since you're drunk?" Ella stepped forward challengingly, "You wanted her to kiss you, didn't you?"
"No, I didn't."
"You thought she was so hot, and since you haven't had some reckless fun of sleeping with five girls in one week ever since you've been with me, you were interested, is that it?"
"I told her I had a fiancé; we were looking for you!"
"Well, thank god you looked for me outside in the garden where nobody was!"
"She was about to start crying and needed some air, Ella." When Ella shook her head, turning away and her eyes starting to swell with tears, Bradley felt his heart clench. "I can't lose you over this."
"You've already lost me. I told you we're finished. I want nothing to do with you."
"You don't mean that."
"I do! Did you see your things outside? Grab them and get the fuck away from me"
"Ella, please." When he reached for her, she placed her bowl on the counter and raised her hand to stop him. However, he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him, and she landed on his chest. As she tried to get away, he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and tightly squeezed her against him.
Ella was trying to resist, cursing at him to let her go, but she completely stopped when she realized Bradley's shoulders were quivering. His breathing was shallow as if it was a struggle, and his chest seemed to tremble.
"Ella, please," his voice was coiled and breathy. He didn't want her to see him cry, but he was crying, and holding her was all he wanted. "This is breaking me apart, Ella, I can't..." he inhaled a sharp breath, trying to calm himself down. "Seeing you throw the ring at me was heartbreaking, Ell, heartbreaking."
Ella paused for a moment before whispering, "Then why would you do that to me, babe?" Her voice has softened, and she felt a sudden urge to hold him.
"I didn't do anything to you, Ella, I promise. We went outside, and she was so upset that I just wanted to lighten her mood a bit. Then she kissed me, and I pulled away as soon as I could," Bradley explained quietly, feeling his muscles ease from Ella's touch as she wrapped an arm around his waist. "I'm sorry that it hurt you, but Ella," he tightened his hold on her, "there's a reason why I asked you to marry me. You're literally all I can ever think about, and I need you."
Ella was conflicted, still upset but didn't want to lose Bradley. Which was why she whispered, "Let's take a break- give me some time."
