The Fox and The Wolf

Chapter 48: The War Starts

Avery

“Training starts today!” Liam sang as he walked into the kitchen with David and Jake.

The girls and I covered our ears.

“Liam, I don’t want to go deaf here.” Ashe said still covering her ears.

“Still annoying as always.” Tony mumbled.

I looked at him and cracked a smile.

“Be nice Tony.” Lilly said sternly.

“Yes Lilly.” Tony huffed.

“Oh you are so whipped.” Scott said patting his back.

“And you aren’t?” I laughed.

Scott stuck his tongue out at me and turned back to my mother.

“And besides. Training already started awhile ago.” Carlos said to Liam.

Liam smirked. “Then let me rephrase.” He paused and looked at me, Ashe, and Vic. “Training starts today for you three.”

I’m pretty sure all of our eyes went wide.

“You’re joking right?” Ashe asked in disbelief.

“Afraid not butter cup.” David teased and poked her nose.

Ashe growled and swatted at his hand.

“But we already trained. Well a little.” I said to Jake.

“But with everything that has been going on for the past couple of weeks, you and Ashe haven’t really been training. And since we have Victoria with us, there isn’t a better time to start. And we were kinda hoping Victoria would show us some of her stuff.” Jake said the last part to Vic.

“Sure. I get to take down some of these saps. It’ll be fun.” Vic laughed.

“And you can finally teach us how to flip like you did with Liam.” I laughed.

“That wasn’t funny.” Liam said sticking his tongue out at me.

“I thought it was when Ashe told me about it.” Tony laughed.

Liam glared at Tony who glared right back.

“Ya. I’m really sorry about that babe.” Vic said walking to Liam and giving him a hug.

“It’s okay. Let’s just please never do that again.” He said letting out a nervous laugh.

“Well..” Vic trailed off smiling. “Kidding.” She quickly said when Liam gave her a look.

“I call flipping him next.” Tony whispered to me.

“I can still hear you brat.” Liam growled.

“Knock it off you two. Or Katie and I will make both of you attend our next tea party.” Lilly threatened while Katie nodded in agreement.

“Yes Lilly.” Tony and Liam said glaring at each other.

Vic came back and sat by me and Ashe. “Why do those two hate each other so much?”

Ashe and I busted out laughing.

“We will tell you that after training.” I said standing up.

“Ya. When you hear it, you’ll laugh.” Ashe said following me upstairs.

“Okay. If you say so.” Vic answered as we all went to our rooms to change.

“This is pointless.” Ashe groaned as she failed at shooting the bow n’ arrow for the fifth time.

“Come on Ashe. It isn’t that hard.” Vic said as she got a bullseye. Yet again.

“Easy for you too say. You used one of these before.”

“You are seriously struggling with that.” I laughed watching Ashe trying to find our where to put the arrow.

“How do you even freaking use this thing.” She groaned and threw it on the ground. “Whoever the hell invented that thing should not be living.”

“Ashe. It has been around for quite some time. He’s already dead.” I said laughing as she is getting angrier.

“Well….good. He deserves it.” Ashe pouted.

“David!” Victoria yelled.

David turned around and looked over at us before walking towards us.

“Yeppers?” David asked.

“Help your mate. She is having troubles with the bow n’ arrow.” I laughed pointing at her over my shoulder with my thumb.

“Okay.” He laughed.

Victoria and I walked over to the next training station.

“Guns?” I asked with a giant smile.

“Oh hell ya.” Vic said with a grin.

I looked at all the guns on the wall that they had set up.

“Uhh Vic?” I asked staring at one gun in particular.

“Ya?” She asked looking at me.

I reached up and grabbed the gun and showed it to her.

“Is this a MK 16?” I asked confused.

Why the hell do they have this?

“Uhh I’m not very good with guns. But by the way you are saying that, I have a feeling they shouldn’t have it.” Vic said confused.

“They shouldn’t.” I said looking at it. “It’s used in the military. It’s a rifle.”

“Oh. So it’s bad?”

“I don’t know. But it looks a little different than the ones that they use in the military.”

“How do you know so much about guns?”

I laughed. “Well I had to find a hobby.”

“Understandable.” She said nodding.

“Let’s test this bad boy out. Shall we?” I asked loading up the gun.

“We shall.” Vic said handing me a pair of safety glasses which I put on.

I smirked and faced the target.

I held the gun up and fired.

“Holy shit!” Vic yelled and jumped away from me.

I stopped shooting and looked at the target..umm well what was left of it.

My mouth fell open and Jake came running over to us with Liam.

“What the hell happened to all the targets?” Jake asking pointing to them.

“And who screamed?” Liam asked nervously.

“Well. I was shooting at the targets for practice.” I said pointing at the targets.

When Liam and Jake turned to look, I handed the gun to Vic and she put it back on the wall.

“What gun did you use?” Liam asked laughing. “Because there are pretty much no targets left.”

“Well I used this small SIG Pro semi-automatic pistol.” I said quickly grabbing it off the wall.

“That little pistol.” Jake paused. “Did all that.” And pointed to the blown up targets.

I looked at Vic and back at Jake. “Yes.” I said unsure.

Jake and Liam looked at each other and shook their heads.

“I don’t even want to know.” Jake said.

“Okay. Well Avery and I are going to go by the throwing knives practice.” Vic said quickly.

“Yes. Let’s go.” I said catching on and walking with her.

“Wait. Why is my rifle in the wrong spot?” Jake asked and walked to the wall.

“Did you put it in the wrong spot?” I whispered to Vic.

“No. At least I don’t think so.” Vic whispered back.

“Hey Avery-” Jake started.

“I didn’t touch the MK 16.” I said quickly cutting him off.

“What are you talking about?” Jake asked looking at me strangely.

“Uh. What are you talking about?” I asked back.

“My Savage 110 hunting rifle was in the wrong spot.”

“Ohh.” I said and turned to Vic. “Shit. We need to leave.”

Vic nodded and we tried to tip toe away.

“Avery. Come here.” Jake said sternly.

I groaned and turned around. “Yes dear?”

“Did you touch the MK 16?”

“Pfft…me? Touch that? Pfft…no. I wouldn’t dare.” I said crossing my arms trying to look calm and collected.

“Victoria.” Jake said sternly towards her.

“She did it!” Vic yelled pointing her finger at me.

I gasped. “You traitor!”

“Uh.. I’m gonna go look at the throwing knives.” She quickly yelled and ran to them.

“If I go down, you’re going down with me!” I yelled after her as Liam left with her.

“Avery.” Jake said giving me a pointed look.

“Ugh. Okay. I saw it and I never shot one before. I’ve only read about them. I was curious and I didn’t think it would be that powerful.” I said looking at him.

He laughed. “Well of course it would be that powerful. I had that one custom made.”

“How the hell did you get a MK 16 rifle custom made.”

“I have a friend who is an alpha is Russia. Besides being an alpha, he also makes guns. It’s like his hobby.”

“Huh. Who would have thought.” I said smiling. That’s actually pretty cool.

“Ya.” Jake chuckled. “We have had a long day. How about we call it quits and hit that sack.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. “That sounds wonderful to me.”

“Good.” Jake laughed.
