The Fox and The Wolf

Chapter 35: Meeting him

Avery

“Can you please move.” The mystery man asked getting pissed.

“I can. But I don’t know if I want too.” Carlos said rocking back and forth on his feet.

The man was literally shaking. “May you please move.”

“Nah.” Carlos smiled shaking his head.

“Oh I love my dad.” Ashe said busting out laughing.

The man looked around Carlos and glared at Ashe.

“Don’t look at my daughter you weirdo.” Carlos sneered stepping in his way.

“All I want is to talk to the other girl. That’s all I want.” The mystery man tried to reason.

“Tony. If anything happens, you run with Lilly and Katie. Got it?” I asked stashing up.

“What are doing?” Lilly asked me.

“Going to go talk to him before a fight breaks out.” I said walking over to a fuming mystery guy and an amused Carlos.

He is enjoying this way to much.

“So. What did you want to talk to me about?” I asked.

“I would like I talk to you alone.” The man said.

I opened my mouth to talk but someone beat me too it.

“Dale.”

I turned to see my mom fuming. She said his name with so much venom.

“Dale? Mom. Who is Dale?” I asked as she, Jake’s parents, Scott, and Jake came out of their car.

“Me.” I turned to see ‘Dale’ standing there. “Nice to see you Catherine.”

“How do you know my mom?” I asked Dale.

His eyes opened wide. “A-Avery?”

“Ya?” I asked confused.

“You’ve grown up so much.” He said with a smile taking a step towards me.

“And you’ve grown up to be a creeper.” I said taking a step back.

“You don’t remember me?”

“Am I suppose too?” I asked as my mom put me behind her.

“Wow Catherine. Didn’t even tell our own daughter about her dad.” Dale sneered.

“There was a reason. I didn’t want her to know about the man that walked out on her.”

“Wait wait wait. You mean-” I paused and pointed to Dale. “You’re my dad?”

Dale smiled and nodded. “Yes.”

I frowned and walked up to him.

Once I got up to him, I punched him.

My mom gasped as he went down and Carlos was rolling on the ground laughing.

“Asshole.” I spat and walked back to my mom.

He groaned and got up holding his cheek.

“Ya. That’s gonna hurt for awhile. She punched me three times.” Jake commented walking up to me and wrapping me in a hug.

“So this guy is your husband?” Scott asked pissed off.

My mom quickly shook her head and gave him a hug. “No Scott. He’s my ex husband. The pig.”

“That’s a disgrace to pigs everywhere.” Lilly said.

“So you must be my other daughter.” Dale said opening and closing his mouth to probably get feeling back.

“You will never be my father.” Lilly said.

“Lilly-” He started.

“No!” She screamed. “You are a jerk. You left my mom and sister before I was even born.”

“I’m sorry. I was stupid.” Dale pleaded.

“Too late for sorrys.” I said crossing my arms and walking up to him. “Do you know how many times I asked mom when my dad was coming back. Or why he left? She had to sit there and lie to both of her daughters. I have missed so many memories with my father. We could never have been a full family. Did you know mom was sick?”

“What?” He asked in disbelief as he looked at mom.

“Ya. Her kidneys were failing. The surgery and medication for everything cost $90,000. But you weren’t here to know that. She was on life support for a long time and I was working two jobs to pay for it. But you would have never of known that because you left!” I screamed in his face.

“I’m sorry Avery.” He said looking sad.

“You have no right to say sorry!” I accused poking his chest with every word.

“But Avery-“

“You need to leave.” My mom cut in. “Go back to your stupid hotel company. We are doing just fine without you.”

“Catherine.” Dale pleaded walking up to her.

Scott stepped in the way causing Dale to bump into him. “Back off.” Scott warned.

“Who the hell are you?” Dale asked through clenched teeth.

“Scott. Cathy’s boyfriend.” He smirked.

I was as my mom blushed hard. Oh wow mother. Real smooth, real smooth.

“Who the hell said you could have a boyfriend?”

“Oh I did.” My mom said crossing her arms. “Because last I checked, you left me to care for both of the girls. So nice try.”

“Burn!” Katie laughed highfiving Lilly.

Dale looked beyond pissed. “You two will always be my daughters.” He said pointing at Lilly and I.

“We may be related by blood. But we will never be your daughters.” I said crossing my arms.

“And besides.” Lilly said. “We have a new dad.”

“Who?” Dale asked shocked.

Lilly smiled and walked up too Scott. “Scott is our new daddy.”

Scott smiled and bent down and picked her up as Lilly wrapped her arms around his neck.

I smiled and walked over to him. “She’s right. Scott is our new dad.”

Scott smiled at me and gave me a side hug as he held Lilly.

“So as you can see. You aren’t needed.” Ashe smiled in victory.

“Whatever.” Dale said. “I don’t need you guys anyway.” He scowled at all of us before he walked back to his car.

“That went well.” I said taking a deep breathe.

“Hey. Have you guys seen my dad?” Ashe asked looking around.

“What the hell happened to my car?!” Dale screamed.

We turned to look and saw that his windows were smashed and well….his car looks like it went through hell and back.

A moment later, Carlos came over by us.

“Where did you go?” Ashe asked suspiciously.

Carlos smiled innocently at us. “I had to go to the bathroom.”

“So that broken stuck over there was like that before?” I pointed to a broken stick that was thrown by the swings.

Carlos saw it and he looked hesitant. “Yes.” He said unsure.

“Well.” Stacy clapped. “Let’s go have some supper.”

“Avery? What’s wrong?” Jake asked me as he came out of the bathroom in inly his pajama pants.

I climbed into the bed and sighed. “I’m still shocked that I met my dad today.”

He smiled and came to sit next to me. “It was really cool when you punched him.”

I laughed. “Of course you would enjoy that part.”

He pulled me closer to him. “Now what’s really on your mind?”

“Nothing.” I said playing with his fingers in my lap.

“Avery.” He warned.

I sighed again. “It’s just….I feel like it’s my fault that he left us.”

“It’s not though.” He tried to say.

I shook my head. “No. It is. My mom told myself and Lilly the real reason he left.”

Jake pulled me even closer and kissed my temple. “Avery. There is no possible way this is your fault.”

I pulled myself from his grip and stood up. “Yes it is. It’s because in a damn girl. I’m the reason he left.”

Jake got up and walked over to me. “Avery. You are perfect. This isn’t your fault, or Lilly’s, or your mom’s. This is HIS fault.”

“But Jake. He wanted a son and-“

Jake silenced me with a kiss. “You are perfect just the way you are and this isn’t your fault.”

“But-“

“Avery. I mean it.”

I reluctantly nodded. “Fine.”

“Good. Now you must always know that I love you. You are special and perfect and beautiful. I’m glad you are how you are.”

I felt a tear slip out as Jake was telling me this. I can’t believe I got so lucky.

“I’m glad I have you as a mate.” I said pulling him into a hug.

“And I’m glad I have you too.”

He smiled before he crashed his lips to mine. I gasped at his sudden action.

I snapped out of it and returned the passion.

Jake growled deep in his chest and he wound his arms tightly around my waist.

“Avery.” Jake moaned as he pulled back slightly. It gave me just enough time to see his eye change colors. Showing that his wolf was here with us.

“I’m ready.” I said. I could feel my eyes shifting too.

“Are you sure?” He asked. His voice was strained and husky.

“Yes.” I smiled before I crashed my lips to his.
