The Fox and The Wolf

Chapter 14: I’m not trying to escape

Avery

After I woke up this morning, I decided to go downstairs and try to find Jake.

It was around noon when I finally got downstairs and I couldn’t find Lilly. But I think she left with Katie or something.

“Hey Liam.” I waved as I walked in the kitchen.

“Hey.” He waved back and smiled.

“Where’s Jake?”

He grabbed me a coffee cup and filled it for me. “He’s doing patrol.” He said as he handed me it.

“Thanks.” I said taking a sip. “Okay. Well I’m gonna go meet him.”

“Sorry can’t.”

I looked at him still drinking my coffee. “Why?”

He chuckled. “Jake’s being an overprotective mate again. He said it’s too cold.”

“How? It was raining a couple days ago.”

“Ya. But it’s suppose to snow sometime this week.”

“What’s that got to do with anything?”

He shrugged. “Jake said something about it being too cold and to not let Avery or Lilly out of the house.”

“Well where’s Lilly?”

“She’s in Katie’s room playing. They have some warrior wolves playing dress up and having a tea party.”

I looked at him in disbelief. “How did they get them to do that?”

“Avery, think. Lilly is your sister and Katie can be a little demon. They both blackmailed them.”

I laughed. “What did they say?”

“Let’s see. Lilly said that they have to do it, or else she will tell you that they were being mean to them. And Katie told them that they had to or else she would tell Jake. And I know that the guys don’t want to make the sister of the Luna or the sister of the alpha angry.”

“Oh that’s Lilly for ya.”

“Ya, I wonder where she gets it from.” He teased.

“Oh shut up.” I slapped his arm. “I’m gonna go check on this tea party.”

“Oh please. You just want to see the warrior wolves dressed up.”

“Ya. Pretty much.” I said before walking up the stairs with Liam. He had to show me where her room is because I didn’t know.”

When we got to the room, we opened the door and I froze at what I saw.

I saw Lilly and Katie sitting at her little kiddy table with 3 warrior wolves sitting in the tiny chairs that looked like they were about to break any second. But what I really noticed, was the fact that all 3 of the guys had lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish, and can’t forget about the boas they were wearing.

I looked at all of them wide eyed before busting out laughing and falling on the ground.

Liam took a picture before running out of the room laughing.

“Hey guys. Uh what ya up too?”

“Hey Luna.” One of them mumbled.

“Let me guess. Lilly and Katie blackmailed you.” I said crossing my arms still laughing.

“Yes.” They all mumbled.

“Okay well. I’m gonna need all of your guys’ man cards.”

“Ha ha. Very funny Luna.”

“I’m sorry. I had too. Well have fun playing.”

They all glared at me playfully, but they cracked a smile and shook their heads.

Once I left the room, I walked to the living room to go find Jake. “Avery. I told you Jake said you have to stay inside.” Liam whined like a little kid.

“I don’t care. I want to go outside. At least for a run or something.”

He gave me a look because he knows I was lying. He sighed and laughed. “Command me.”

“What?” I gave him a weird look.

“The only way I can let you go outside and not get in trouble, is if you command me to let you go and not say anything unless Jake asks me.”

“Oh. Uh I command you to let me go without saying anything.” I said unsure of how to do it.

“Avery. That was weak.” He laughed.

“I’m not use to this.” I defended.

“Try to be more serious. Put power behind your voice.”

I nodded. I stood straighter and looked him in the eye. “Let me go outside now. And don’t tell anyone.” I said sternly. I felt the power and I could hear Red talking.

Liam looked at me wide eyed before he nodded. “Holy shit. How did you do that so quickly?”

“I have no idea.” I laughed.

He chuckled and shooed me away. “You commanded me. Now go.”

I nodded and walked outside. Okay I’ll admit it, it’s a little chilly but I could care less. I want to talk to Jake and see if I can visit my mom.

I’ve been walking for about ten minutes going to who knows where when I heard voices.

I gasped and hid behind one of the many trees.

“How are all of these rogues getting into our land?” I heard Cory ask.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized it was a guy in Jake’s pack.

“I don’t know.” Blake sighed. So he’s not alone. “But word sure got out that we now have a Luna.”

“How did they find out so easily. Only the pack knows.”

“I couldn’t tell ya. But all I know is that we have too keep a better eye on Avery.”

I can fend for myself you know. What do they think I am? Helpless? Just because I’m a girl, doesn’t mean I can’t fend for myself people….

“Speaking of the Luna.” Cory said. And I think I heard him sniff or something. “I think she’s here. I can smell her scent.”

Yep, he was sniffing the air.

“Ya. I can smell her too.” Blake said.

Oh snap.

“It leads this way.” Cory said. And a second later, I heard footsteps.

Oh double snap.

“What are you guys doing? And how come I can smell Avery?” I recognized that voice as Levi.

Oh triple snap.

“We can smell her too guys.” Blake said.

Wait….guys? You mean Levi isn’t alone?

‘Play it off!’ Red yelled.

Uh. I was to busy looking around for an escape route, that I didn’t notice the guys come over by me.

“Avery?” Blake asked.

I yelped in surprise and turned around to see Blake, Levi, Scott, and Cory.

“Oh hey guys.” I said nervously leaning against a tree.

“What are you doing out here?” Blake asked suspicious. “I thought you accepted us and wouldn’t try to run.”

“I thought I saw something.” I said quickly.

This caused the guys to be on high alert. “What?” Cory asked looking around.

What am I suppose I do? Oh ya, Jake said I can’t be out of the house because it’s too cold and now I commanded Liam to not say anything and now I lied about seeing something?

“Umm. I thought I saw a bear.”

The guys looked relieved, but only for a second. “But there are no bears down here.” Scott said slowly.

“Avery?” Cory asked carefully.

I shifted from foot to foot. “Are you even suppose to be out here? Or are you trying to escape?” Scott asked.

“Uhh.” I said. They uncrossed their arms and speed their legs apart. A sign that they were ready if I decided to run.

And that’s exactly what I did.

I ran to the left and shifted in my fox.

“Shit!” I heard someone scream.

I turned around and saw all of then shift into their wolves and they ran after me.

‘Let’s find Jake.’ Red said.

‘I just wanted to ask him a single question!’ I groaned. ‘Is that too much to ask for?!’

‘Apparently it is.’

I looked behind me and saw that they were still there. Ugh!

I kept on running and finally made it too a clearing.

I stopped and backed up when they came to the clearing.

I shifted and they went behind trees and came back with just shorts on.

“Luna!” Scott yelled. Oh no, he’s pissed. He used Luna instead of my name.

“What?” I snapped back.

“You need to stop trying to escape.” He said glaring at me.

“Who’s escaping?” We all turned to see Jake, David, and a couple of other guys walking towards us.

“Avery.” Blake said crossing his arms.

Jake growled and I saw his eyes turn black. “What?!”

He stalked towards me and let me tell you, he look completely and utterly pissed.

“I’m not. I swear.” I said shaking my head.

He growled and pulled me in his chest. “I thought you accepted us.” He said hugging me tighter.

“I did.”

“Then why are you trying to escape!” He yelled accusing me.

I flinched at his voice. “I’m not.” My voice was small as I shrunk back.

“Sure doesn’t look like it!”

A tear slipped from my eye. Why doesn’t he believe me? I think it’s the mate pull, but it really hurt that he was yelling at me and accusing me of something I didn’t do. Especially when I’m standing here telling him it’s not true.

Rage filled me and I pushed him back using my fox strength. “I’m not!” I yelled. “I was trying to find you to see if I could go see my mom and too see if you guys wanted to come with!” I paused and I felt my eyes change while Jake’s went back to normal. “Sorry for being nice and seeing it you wanted to come along. And I thought mates were suppose to trust and believe each other!” I growled.

Everyone looked shocked. Jake stepped towards me but I stepped back. He looked extremely hurt. “Avery-“

I didn’t let him finish because I let out a growl and he flinched back.

“Whatever asshole.” I said calmly and shifted besides I turned around and ran towards the house.
