Chapter 26
Chapter 26
After Aurelia’s men re–entered the elevator next to them and went down, the three men sitting on the couch slowly stood up and walked toward the elevator.
However, they did not go down. Instead, they swiped the card and went to the sixth floor.
The sixth floor was also special, but it was nowhere near the seven floors above.
After getting out of the elevator, they went straight to a room. As soon as they swiped the card and entered that room, one of the three men quickly nodded and reported, “Mr. Longley, that’s her. That’s the woman!”
Xavion narrowed his eyes slightly and said, “Are you sure? Are you certain she entered Room 718?”
“Yes! It’s her. We happened to be checking you in when she arrived. We clearly heard that she was going to Room 718. The attendant at the front desk even called and asked before personally leading her into the elevator. There’s no mistake!”
Another man added excitedly.
If Aurelia was there, she would probably have recognized those two young men because they were the secretary–looking people she saw at the front desk.
Xavion couldn’t help but fall into deep thought after hearing how sure the two men were.
“Okay. I got it. You guys can go back first. By the way, tell Marcellus that it’s getting late today, and I’m tired. Tell him we’ll talk another time.”
“Okay. Mr. Longley. We’ll leave first then.”
The two secretary–looking men then left the special elevator and room keycard and took off respectfully.
As soon as they left, Xavion took out his phone and walked to the balcony.
“Hello, Yves? Sorry to wake you up so late. Yes, yes. I’ve found something, and I want to report it to you. Yes, yes. The people from Marcellus Corporation treated me to dinner at the Navarre Hotel today. They’ve expressed their intention to get close to you. But strangely, I saw Deputy Sheriff Swanson’s daughter at the front desk on the fifth floor!”
Xavion was quiet for a while after he said that.
“I’m sure of it! It’s indeed Deputy Sheriff Swanson’s darling daughter and Marcellus‘ wife, Aurelia Swanson. How can I not get a full picture of your most disobedient subordinate in Navarre? Yes, yes. Aurelia appeared on the fifth floor of the Navarre Hotel at eight o’clock and went to Room 718. It seemed that she had made an appointment in advance. She didn’t leave until five minutes ago. Yeah. That’s right!”
A few moments of silence ensued after Xavion finished his sentence.
“Marcellus didn’t seem to know that his wife was here today. Yeah. Yves, you should be careful. I’m afraid the people in Room 718 are of an impressive background. Do you think you can make an excuse first thing tomorrow morning to come over and look around?”
Xavion listened carefully after asking that question.
“Okay, I got it! I’ll observe Marcellus carefully and keep a distance for now. Yes, yes. Okay. Thank you, Yves. Have a good rest. Bye!”
Xavion’s forehead was covered in sweat by the time he hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Yves had trouble going back to sleep after being woken up by the phone in the middle of the night.
Yves, who was it? It’s the middle of the night.”
Yves’s wife turned over in the quilt and muttered with some dissatisfaction.
It’s nothing. Go back to sleep. It’s Xavion. He had something to tell me.”
Then, Yves turned off the light and lay down again. Still, his brain had started to work through things. Marcellus and Ricardo wanted to get close to him and showed that they were willing to help topple their in–law.
Normally, the matter would be nothing since Michael wasn’t obedient anyway. However, earlier that day, Michael seemed to have changed his firm stance and showed obvious signs of turning to Yves’s side.
During the day. Yves also sent a kind signal of acceptance to Michael. Thus, it was obviously not appropriate to take any action against Michael at a time like that.
After all, Marcellus and Ricardo were just businessmen. How could they compare to a deputy who could cooperate with
Yves’s work?
Not to mention Michael deciding to side with Yves himself would showcase Yves’s authority more than getting rid of Michael below the belt.
There was no need for further consideration in the matter as it had all been decided already.
But now, things were obviously not that simple.
Yves’s cousin, Xavion, saw Michael’s daughter, Aurelia, at the Navarre Hotel and even saw her go to Room 718. More importantly, she stayed in that room for more than four hours.
So what was the relationship between Aurelia and the person living in Room 718?
Were they relatives? Or something else?
Yves had heard about a guest staying over at Room 718 that night. It was said that the person came from Nuthana, but he was not the boss of the state, so Yves thought the person might be a scion.
Yves was born into a big family. Naturally, he knew that the real scions were no less capable than those state governors at all. It was just that Yves did not bother to lower himself and curry favors with others.
Thus, Yves didn’t ask about the details.
However, Yves had no choice but to be careful now that Michael’s daughter appeared there.
“Could it be that Michael also has someone in Nuthana?
He might have heard that I wanted to take action against him, so he played nice and approached me. At the same time, he brought his backer from Nuthana as a way of telling me that he’s not someone who could be easily messed with.
Otherwise, how could there be such a coincidence that Aurelia was seen staying for more than four hours in Room 718 when Xavion and Marcellus were having dinner at Navarre?‘
The more Yves thought about it, the more he felt that was the case. He couldn’t help but shiver at that conclusion. You really can’t underestimate anyone in the political scene. But that motherf*cker, Michael, is so good at pretending. Why didn’t he tell if he had such a huge backer?
I wouldn’t have welcomed those two idiots, Marcellus and Ricardo if he had told me!
We’re so close to ruining everything!”
Fortunately, Yves had never come forward and had always contacted Marcellus and Ricardo through Xavion. Thus, Yves still had time to turn things around and change direction.
“Humph! Marcellus and Ricardo decided to be traitors themselves, so they shouldn’t blame me for using them as a favor for Michael.”

With everything figured out, Yves finally went back to sleep.
On the other hand, poor Marcellus and Ricardo still had no idea that their fate had changed completely in just a few hours. Instead, they were still having sweet dreams of their new backer.
