The Enigmatic Return (Neera and Jean)

Chapter 49

Two hours had passed, and every second seemed so long as everyone was tense. Neera did not dare to lose her concentration, and sweat was dripping from her forehead. Isabella was wiping her sweat off all the time. As she proceeded, six hours had passed. Finally, the operation was over! Neera relaxed when she saw that the patient was in a good state. "The operation is a huge success. The patient will get out of the critical stage and wake up in twenty-four hours."

The team sighed a breath of relief as they heard her words, and Isabella eagerly hugged her and jumped around. "Thank you for your hard work! You did me a huge favor!"

Neera was exhausted; she could not even smile. She just let Isabella hug her. Six hours of concentration had exhausted her; she did not want to move at this moment. She took off her mask as she looked at the patient being pushed out of the room. "You all shall do the follow-up later."

Isabella nodded and suggested, "Sure. You're tired; why don't you have a rest in my office first?"

Neera shook her head and said, "It's alright; I'll just go home." All she wanted to do now was rest quietly at home. Isabella did not force her; she brought her out of the internal tunnel to change her clothes.

...

At the same time, Ian got the news, and he went to Alvin's office to make his report. When Jean heard that the operation was over, he hurriedly stood up and trotted to the operating room to get her. Alvin tagged along to the hall outside of the operation room. There was barely anyone waiting there after six hours. The operation room was open, and there were medical staff coming out from time to time. Alvin was waiting, and he realized that he knew everyone coming out; there was not a new face that he had not seen before. He did not even see the so-called Nancy. He frowned, and he wanted to ask around. Jean asked impatiently, "Where is Ms. Nancy?"

He said apologetically, "I haven't seen her yet, Mr. Beauvort; please be patient and let me ask around."

And when he saw Isabella walking out, he hurriedly grabbed her. "Where's Ms. Nancy? Is she still inside?"

Isabella was already exhausted, and she was stunned when she heard the question. She then realized it was her cousin, and she got annoyed. She withdrew her hand and answered calmly, "She's gone; what do you need?"

Alvin was taken aback by her answer, and before he spoke, Jean interrupted them. "The operation was just over; when and how did she leave?" He frowned, and the way he asked was intimidating.

Isabella was taken by surprise. She then looked at him, and she seemed to be unhappy. She did not know who this man was, but she knew that Alvin must be using this opportunity to please him. She did not want to entertain them anymore, so she said coldly, "It's private and confidential."

Roxanne walked up to them too, and she glanced at Jean before she said softly, "Ms. Lopez, it's okay if you can't introduce me to Ms. Nancy. But can you tell me where she is? I won't take up much of her time."

Isabella was getting restless seeing her here. "I've said it! I can't disclose anything! I have things to attend to, so don't waste my time." She walked away after she spoke.
