Chapter 34
"It's 100 percent true!" Ian said and nodded. "The news is from the Lopez Group's official website, so it can't be false. Lance is right. Dr. Nancy is in Kingsview. I didn't expect that she would decline our request and help Grace Hospital instead."
He was suddenly reminded about something and asked, "But now that Dr. Garcia is treating you, do you still want to look for Dr. Nancy?"
Jean put his pen away and turned his chair around to face the window. The bright afternoon sun made him narrow his eyes.
"Neera Garcia has only promised to treat me for ten sessions, and I can't tell how effective she is. I don't like to leave things up to chance, so we'll still have to look for Dr. Nancy. Also, she has stood us up once, and I'm not going to let that slide. Contact the Lopez family and ask them to hook us up with her."
"Yes, I'll get it done right away," Ian said.
Neera spent the entire afternoon studying the patient's medical records.
The operation was risky indeed. No wonder Isabella was so worried.
However, she was about 90 percent confident that the operation would be a success.
She briefly considered how the operation should proceed. Looking at the time, she put the documents away and went to see what her children were doing.
The children had woken up from their naps. Instead of disturbing their mother, they took their pet puppies and went to play in the yard.
When Neera went out of the house, she heard a series of pained yelps.
She looked around the yard and found the triplets huddled in a corner of the yard. She did not know what they were doing.
She went over to take a look and found that the children were comforting Cece.
"Don't be afraid, Cece. We'll get you out there now."
"It might hurt a little. Bear with it please..."
"Awoo..." Cece howled in agony. Its fat body was caught between two bars of the fence.
Its head was on the neighbor's side of the fence, while its butt was wriggling on this side.
It looked both cute and hilarious.
Ace and Pixie were running around in circles and barking. They scratched Cece's body with their paws, but it was of no use.
Neera could not help but laugh when she saw that. "What happened? How did Cece get stuck?"
The triplets saw their mother and began to explain to her. "We were playing ball in the yard earlier. Cece's ball rolled over to Mr. Handsome's house, and it wanted to squeeze past the fence to retrieve it, but it got stuck instead. We wanted to help it, but we're afraid we might hurt it!"
"Please help it, Mommy!"
Neera thought it was very amusing. She crouched behind Cece and tried to set the little animal free.
She found that Cece was completely stuck there. If she tried to use force, the puppy might be hurt.
Cece was Sammy's favorite pet. The boy was very worried.
"What do we do, Mommy? Are we going to leave Cece here?"
Cece turned its head and looked at his masters with teary eyes, as though it understood what they were saying.
Neera comforted the children, "Don't worry. We'll think of something."
She reached her arm beyond the fence and patted Cece's head. "Good boy, Cece. Hang in there for a bit."
While she pondered about how to save the poor puppy, she heard two sets of footsteps coming toward her.
She lifted her head and saw Jean walking over with Ian behind him.
The two men stood at the opposite side of the fence and looked at Neera and the puppy.
Ian was the first to ask, "Dr. Garcia, what... are you doing?"
