Chapter 19
The next morning, while Rydstorm and Catori were having a private breakfast.
Catori brought up the issue with Fang and Nita.
“Did you know that Fang treats Nita like she is nothing?”
Rydstorm looked up from his plate.
“I’m aware that he rejected her, but I didn’t know he mistreated her.”
Catori recalled the encounter they had.
Rydstorm cut her off in the middle of her story.
“He didn’t see you naked, did he?”
″No, and that’s not the point.”
“Catori, Fang is of a different breed of dragon than you and I. His kind is more barbaric. They live in caves or forgotten towns. Their only purpose is to serve families like mine-”
It was Catori’s turn to cut him off.
“That still doesn’t give him the right to treat Nita the way he does.”
“Please let me finish.”
She nodded.
“Centuries ago, his people were cursed to be savages. To be uncaring, even to their own. The only people they are loyal to are kings and queens, along with the royal’s immediate families. Until that curse is broken, Fang will continue to see Nita as nothing.”
“That is so sad.”
Rydstorm reached over to take her hand.
“Trust me, for a long time, the both of us have searched far and wide to find a way to break the curse.”
“I want to help him as well.′
Rydstorm nodded, then said.
“If he ever lays a hand on her, he can’t go unpunished.”
Shortly after, someone came in to summon Rydstorm away.
“I’m sorry, my love, but I must leave you.″
Before Catori could reply, Rydstorm kissed her on the cheek and left her by herself.
“Now what am I going to do today?″ Catori asked herself.
She didn’t remember where to go and barely knew her left from right in this new place.
Catori got up, dumped the rest of her food, then stepped out into the long hallway.
After walking around for a while, Catori came to a set of staircases. Instead of turning around, she continued along to the second floor.
While walking, Catori felt a dreadful feeling setting in her chest, not because the place was more open than the rest of the Palace but because there was another feeling. As if something bad was about to happen.
Catori found herself down another set of stairs that led to the air garden. But she wasn’t interested with there.
Finally, she came to a slightly adjourned black marble door that read Fang.
She peeked in to see Fang with the orange hair female, along with Nite on the ground crying while the two were in a compromising position.
The female had her legs wrapped around his waist while he was kissing her deeply.
“Don’t stop,” the female moaned.
A small gasp escaped Catori’s lips. She couldn’t watch anymore. So, she turned away from the door, thinking that it was best to find her room and just stay there until Rydstorm got back.
Before she could, she saw Fang dragging Nita off the ground roughly by the hair and the other female in the room laughing.
“Fang, please don’t do this.” Nita begged.
Fang sneered, “no? Consider this a lesson. You will learn to be more respectful.”
“How do you expect me to be more respectful to you? You give me nothing to respect.” Nita cried.
Catori didn’t hear Fang respond, but she heard when Nita said.
“I will never have respect for you, so just go back to fucking those bitches you love so much.″
Fang’s face twisted with anger. Suddenly he had Nita by the neck and up against a wall, with her feet dangling in the air.
“Listen to me, you better watch your words.′
“Let me go, Fang. And I won’t take back my words. You are nothing but a scum. So are those nasty low life creatures you sleep with.″
Nita tried to kick her legs, but she was getting too weak and was no match for Fang.
Tears were streaming down Nita’s face as she struggled to break free from Fang’s hold and whatever hateful words he was whispering in her ears.
Fang moved away, causing her to fall to the ground. Nita coughed uncontrollably.
Catori could not believe that a man who was to be someone’s protector was treating her like that.
Thinking that it was best to get someone, Catori turned away again, but stopped when Fang gave a dark laugh.
“You are such a weak, sad little thing. I don’t know how someone like you became my mate.″
Without a word, Nita got up, heading in the opposite direction from where Catori was hiding. But Fang stopped her.
“I think you need to be taught some respect.″
“I think I can help with that.″ The orange hair nymph stepped forward.
“No, I know what to do.″ Fang waved her off.
The female rolled her eyes then pouted, “you never let me have any fun.″
“Me allowing you to be here should be enough,″ Fang told her.
Fang stared down at Nita, hating her with so much passion he couldn’t understand why.
Then something reminded him that he wanted her sister, not Nita. He could have been king if the Fates hadn’t forced him to take someone else.
“I never wanted you as a mate. Your sister was the perfect match for me. She is strong, smart, and ruthless. You, I don’t even know what to think of you.”
Nita only stared up at him.
“I could have been king, could have had a place to rule. Be the first of my family served and waited on. Not that anything is wrong with where I am. I enjoy protecting my king and now his queen. But you, you are not right for my image.”
Nita turned sad eyes on him as he stared at her with a hateful look.
“Time for you to learn some manners.″
Fang dragged a screaming Nita out of the room. He pushed the door so hard it fell off the hinges.
That was when Catori gathered up her strength and ran into the room to stop Fang, but by that he was already gone, and the orange hair female held onto her.
“Let go of me!″ Catori pushed her away.
“Fang! Stop, you don’t have to do this!” She yelled.
“Oh, shut up princess.” The female said in a mocking tone.
Catori broke out of her grasp, which caused the female to try to slap her. Catori grabbed her hand in time and pushed her back.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Catori warned.
“Why? Just because you are Rydstorm’s mate and the Queen, you think I can’t hurt you? Well, just so you know, I have no loyalty towards you or him.”
Catori hissed, “I’m sure Rydstorm will be happy to hear how you really feel.”
The orange hair female laughed.
“And what do you think he is going to do?”
Catori gave a smirk, then said.
“A lot worse than this.”
Then she used the heel of her palm to hit the female on her pointed, up-turned nose.
She fell to the ground with a screech, holding her bloody nose and giving Catori enough time to go in search of Fang.
