The Dragon Prince

Chapter Manifest

After talking, Alyssa calmed down, and I returned her to Izzy's house. I am pissed at Scarlet's behavior; she is a member of the elders and should set a better example.

"Thanks for walking me back, Vincent," Alyssa smiled.

It's my pleasure. I'll see you later." Vincent nodded.

"Vincent, wait!" before he could leave, I grabbed his hand. Sparks rushed up my arm, and my body felt numb, but not the wrong kind.

"Yes?" I looked at Alyssa.

"What will the Elders do now?" Alyssa asked.

"I don't know, but don't worry about that. Take it easy, and I'll let you know if anything changes. Good night, Alyssa." I walked off.

"Goodnight," She waved.

I got back to the palace and saw Scarlet walking to another location. I'm going to give this bitch a piece of my mind. But where is she going, though?

I followed Scarlet into the gardens and hid behind some bushes. "Which of you is Alex?" Scarlet said. I took a peek and saw Scarlet meeting with my sister and Scott. What's going on here?

"I am," Alex said.

"I wanted to thank you for the tip about the girl," Scarlet said, thanking Alex.

She's called the Elders about Aylssa!!!? That two-timing daughter of a bitch. Sorry, mom.

"How long are you staying?" Alex asked.

"We have yet to make that decision," Scarlet said.

"Alright, we will discuss more of this later. Scott, why don't you show Scarlet around," Alex said.

"Sure," Scott bowed.

Scott left with Scarlet.

"I know you're here, Vincent; Scott noticed you and warned me," Alex called out.

Great, I'm not as subtle as I think. "Let's get this out in the open, shall we, dear sister? You called the Elders?!" I clenched my teeth.

"I did," Alex admitted.

"Why would you do that? Are you insane?" I yelled.

"It's protocol, Vincent. You should know that more than anyone." Alexandria grinned.

I grabbed her by the throat and pinned her to a tree. "NOT WHEN IT COMES TO MY MATE AND YOUR FUTURE QUEEN!" I could feel my rage reaching its boiling point.

"I knew it; the Goddess mated you to the Gold Dragon. I needed them to know about her existence so we could know she was not a threat," Alex said.

"She's my mate Alexandria; I would know if she was a threat to Varrfarrinn or the other six kingdoms," I growled.

"You are blinded by the mate bond, Vincent," Alex said, gasping for air.

"Why are you against her? Hasn't she been through enough?" I squeezed my grip around her neck.

"The question is, why are YOU so blind?" I staggered when Alex broke my grip and pushed me back.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I crossed my arms.

"You know exactly what that means. Ever since Alyssa arrived, you've been distracted, and now I know that it's the mate bond you have with her. I'm happy you found your mate, brother, but she is a threat until we know more about her. The Elders don't know about your newly discovered bond with the girl, and I wonder what they will do if they have that information. Only dad would have your back if they knew. Only the elders can decide if she's a threat, and Gold Dragons don't just fall out of the skies. I didn't think they would send Scarlett, as she can be straightforward."

"Straightforward?? SHE DAMN NEAR THREATENED HER!" I yelled again.

"How did you react to that?" Alex asked.

I stood in silence. I lowered my head and huffed.

"That's what I thought; we know nothing about Alyssa, and the bond you share is a threat," Alex said.

"She's not a threat. My mate is not a threat." I said.

"Are you willing to risk your family, the kingdom on your words?" Alex smiled.

I stood there silent again, damn it.

"That's what I thought. I am not saying she should be locked up or anything like that, but just be careful around her and allow the Elders to do their investigation." Alex walked off without a care, as she always does.

I need to call my father. I pulled out my phone and dialed the number. Please pick up the phone.

"Vincent, what a surprise to receive a call from you. Are things well at home?" My father said.

"Dad, we need to talk before the other Elders know the information I'm about to tell you. I need your help." I said.

"You have my full attention." My father said.

Alyssa

(Two Weeks Later)

Two weeks have passed since the meeting with Scarlet and Preston. I hadn't heard anything since, but I felt they were watching me. "Annabeth, don't you ever stop eating?"

"What? I'm hungry! Help yourself with some turkey; it's a delicacy here on the island." Annabeth smiled and handed me a plate.

I shrugged. "What the heck," I laughed.

"So, how did the doctor's appointment go?" Annabeth asked while pouring herself a glass of milk.

"My wounds are almost healed. Dr. Solus said I should try walking and doing slightly easy workouts." I said. "He's not so sure about my dragon,"

"Your dragon will wake up one day. Hey, let's go shopping for dresses, Izzy has training class today, and I need someone to help pick out nice outfits, and you'll need one for the party tonight," Annabeth said.

"What party?" I asked.

"Isabella must've forgotten to tell you that before school starts, we throw a huge party, and Vincent will be there," Annabeth said, teasing me.

"What do you know about mates?" I said out of the blue.

"Well, you know Isabella and I are soulmates by the Moon Goddess. Your mate is the person that is made to love you; he was made for you, and you are made for them. First, you start smelling this unique scent when you are near them, your mood changes, you begin becoming possessive, and you grow stronger. Why do you ask?" Annabeth said.

"No reason; I was just curious in case I did encounter it." I lied; if I told Annabeth I figured out Vincent was my mate, everyone would freak out. I have seen Vincent a few times, but he's been avoiding me, and I don't know why. I hardly know him, so why is that bothering me? Could it be because of the mate bond?

While Annabeth was driving us to the mall, she told me that Audrey was meeting us there. "You made it!" Audrey cheered. "I'm so excited; this is the first time I can go to the end-of-the-summer party. I was traveling with mom last year, so that I couldn't go last year."

We arrived at the dress shop and browsed the dresses; many were pretty, but none would cover up my scares; I was not ready to show them to everyone yet.

"Alyssa, how about the white one-shoulder dress? It covers the scars that you don't want anyone to see." Audrey suggested. She was correct; it was perfect. Then Audrey put her hand on the wall and started to breathe heavily. "Is it hot in here, or is it just me?" Audrey said.

"I feel fine; why?" I said, helping to a nearby chair. "I'm going to try on some dresses, and you just rest here for a bit."

"Sounds good; thank you, Alyssa." Audrey smiled.

Some time passed, and I tried on many dresses for tomorrow's party; I soon noticed that Audrey was missing. She wasn't sitting on the chair anymore. I walked up to her. "Annabeth, have you seen Audrey?"

"I talked with her earlier, but she was acting weird," Annabeth said.

"She did say that it was hot in here; maybe she went outside?" I said. Annabeth paid for the dress and asked them to be delivered to her home in a few hours. Just how rich is she to afford so many outfits?

Annabeth and I found Audrey having trouble walking. "Audrey, you look pale. Are you sure you're okay?" I asked with worry.

"This is weird; dragons don't get sick to this degree," Annabeth said.

"I can't be sick; the party is tomorrow." Audrey started to freak out.

"We'll walk you back home; maybe you'll be able to sleep it off.

Annabeth and I walked Audrey out of the mall, but Audrey got slower with every step she took. "Annabeth, she doesn't look so good," I whispered.

"I know. There's a bench; let's take a break; we have been walking for a while now." Annabeth said as we guided Audrey to the bench.

"Girls, I'm fine," Audrey growled.

"The fuck you are!" I snapped suddenly. "Sorry, that was uncalled for,"

"No, it's okay. I should be sorry; I don't know where all this is coming from. Dragons don't usually feel like this." Audrey apologized.

"Wait a minute; I remember feeling the same symptoms that Audrey is feeling. Oh my god, Audrey, look at me for a moment." I said.

"Whoa, what do you mean? You remember feeling what Audrey is feeling," Annabeth said.

"I'll tell you in a minute. Audrey, look at me!" I said calmly.

"Stop shouting. Why is everything so loud?" Audrey moaned. Audrey lifted her head to face me, and her eyes glowed red.

"Oh goddess, she's manifesting!" Annabeth said. "I'm going to call Vincent and Isabella.
