The Dragon Prince

Chapter Deep Sleep

Vincent

Watching Alyssa shaking made me want to hold her, but I knew I had to stay back. “I see that Alyssa’s energy pulses have stopped,” I said as I ran towards her.

“Wait, we need to know for sure.” Dr. Solus warned me.

“I can’t care if I’m blasted to mount Everest. I need to make sure she’s alright.” I growled. Alyssa’s face was pale, but I could hear her breathing; I touched her skin and felt the sparks shoot through me. “Mine,”

“My lord, be careful not to move her,” Dr. Solus said.

“What do you mean? She’s fine,” I roared. My fangs were out, and I wanted to kill anyone who dared keep her from me.

“If I’m correct, her dragon is waking up, and it’s not a good idea,” Doc said.

“Damn it! Alyssa, can you hear me?” I cried. “Baby, please wake up; I found you when I prayed to the goddess to bring you to me. I can’t lose you like this.” I looked up at Dr. Solus. “Can’t you do something?!”

“Let me see.” Dr. Solus put his hand on each side of her head and began chanting.

“I scoffed, “Don’t know why you are doing that again, considering what happened last time,”

“I never knew dragons could get this possessive over their mates.” Dr. Solus joked, but I was not in the mood.

I glared at him. “You haven’t seen me being possessive yet,” I threatened.

“Fair enough. There is nothing we can do at this point. Alyssa’s consciousness is awake, but she’s trapped inside her body. In simpler terms, Alyssa’s mind is sharp, but her body is sleeping.

“There has to be something we can do. Can the mate bond wake her up?” I asked.

“This is something that the mate bond can’t fix. You must understand that a dragon entering hibernation is entirely unheard of, and the same goes for her dragon waking up. We have to observe her and see what happens.” Dr. Solus explained.

My phone began to buzz, and I answered it. “Hi, Isabella. Is there anything you need?”

“Hey Vincent, we can’t find Alyssa. Have you seen her?” Izzy asked.

I looked at my mate’s unconscious face. “Yes, I know where she is, and I think you should come here.

Two hours passed, and I saw no change. “How long will Alyssa stay like this?”

“There is no telling how long this could take,” Dr. Solus told me.

“We can’t just let her lie on the fucking beach all night,” I said.

I heard Izzy, Annabeth, and Jacob running up to us. “By the goddess, Alyssa!” Before Izzy managed to reach Alyssa, I stopped her from getting closer. “Vincent, what the hell?”

“Don’t touch her,” I said calmly.

“What are you talking about, Vincent? What’s going on?” Izzy questioned.

“Doc thinks her dragon is waking up,” I answered.

“Then why the hell haven’t you taken her to the hospital?!” Izzy yelled.

“Alyssa is too unstable; for now, all we do is be here and monitor her,” Dr. Solus explained.

“How can that be ALL you do?!” I could feel Islabella’s anger reaching its boiling point.

“Izzy, please calm down,” Jacob said, trying to calm his sister.

“Don’t tell me what to do, Jacob! She is my best friend, and I refuse to let her lie here and do nothing to help her.” Izzy said.

“Right now, there is nothing we can do,” Dr. Solus said.

Izzy was fuming, but Annabeth was able to keep her from killing the doctor.

“I called Alexandria, and she’ll ensure we have all the privacy we need,” Jacob said. “I guess it’s only a matter of time before the elders find out,”

“Don’t remind me,” I scoffed.

“It’s morning, and there’s no change. Are we just going to let Alyssa lay there for goddess knows how long.” Izzy said.

“No, since there has been no change for the past few hours, we could try to move her to a move-sheltered location. We can move her to the trees; that way, she will be protected from the sun.” Dr. Solus smiled.

“That’s not a fucking solution; we need a hospital!!” Izzy yelled.

“Like I already told you, I don’t think it’s safe to have Alyssa at the hospital; she could shift.” Dr. Solus argued.

“We can move her to the Dragon Caves,” I suggested. “It’s where I shifted for the first time.”

“That is an idea, but the caves are far from here. I could apparate there, but I have no idea how that would affect Alyssa,” Dr. Solus said.

“Do it; Izzy is right; we can’t leave Alyssa lie here for knows how long,” I said.

“Very well, my highness,” Doctor Solus stepped back and placed his hand on Alyssa’s shoulder.

Then, all of a sudden, I felt a pain in my chest. “AGH!” I cried out in pain as my back was on the sand.

“Vincent!” Jacob said.

“What happened?” Doctor Solus said.

I got up slowly. “I don’t know; I felt a sharp pain when you touched her.”

“Whatever is happening to Alyssa is also happening to you, Vincent. Damn, and just when I thought it was safe to move her.” Dr. Solus said.

“We know about Vincent’s bond to Alyssa; it’s evident they’re mates,” Izzy said. “I never heard of a mate bond like this before.”

I don’t know what is going on in Alyssa’s mind, but whatever is going on in that head of hers, I hope she makes it out.
