The Divorcee Who Shines

Chapter 176 Can'T Help It

Chapter 176 Can't Help It

Ranita returned home and called Jedidiah back on the phone. "Brother..." She softly called him as Jedidiah took a deep breath before speaking gently, “You're home so soon?"

“Yeah... I went out for dinner with some friends today," after several seconds of silence passed by, Ranita finally asked, "Is there something you need me for?"

Their contact had decreased over the past few years due to Jedidiah going abroad initially being busy followed by Rantia coming over Kurima where she became occupied with studies as well as work. Their relationship gradually grew distant.

"Mom's birthday is coming up soon; are you coming back this year?" After pausing briefly, Jedidiah lowered his voice, "It wasn't too bad when we were still studying. You would come back once or twice every year but these past two or three years, you've disappeared completely except when you came back on business trips in Steland just so we could have dinner together. Mom feels pretty sad about it."

As Rantia listened, she felt somewhat bitter inside. She wasn't unwilling to go back, it was just that she couldn't bring herself do it .

"Recently, there have been some changes in my work here. I don't think I'll be as busy, so I should be able to go back home for a visit," Ranita said, pausing before adding, "If I can't make it for Mom's birthday, I'll send the gift to you and you can give it to her."

“Ranita!" Jedidiah was a little angry but quickly calmed down. She was his beloved sister of over years - how could he bear to scold her?

“You bring the gift yourself. You can give it to Mom yourself. I'm not going to help you pass it on," Jedidiah sighed helplessly. "You've moved your household registration away and stayed in Kurima without coming back for long enough. It's time for all this anger between us to dissipate! You should come back. Everyone at home misses you." Ranita lowered her eyes with mixed emotions and replied softly, "Okay... I'll find time to come back."

"Brother, sorry but there's something urgent that needs my attention right now.”

Jedidiah had always been understanding. Though he was not happy, he still nodded and said, "Alright, go ahead and do what you need to!" After ending the call, Ranita remained lost in thought.

As she packed up her things later on, Ranita found a small photo from deep inside her purse- a picture of herself with Jedidiah.

At Boulderland Mansion.

Brendon stood hesitating by the window wondering whether or not he should call Ranita when Shannon called out from behind him. "Brendon!" She hugged him lightly from behind with her face pressed against his back while coquettishly asking if he wanted to go out for a walk together.

Brendon felt uncomfortable being held like this by Shannon so he pushed her away frowningly saying, “Shannon, don't be so boring.” Shannon looked very aggrieved because she knew that Brendon was always hugging and kissing Ranita whenever they were together - why couldn't she do the same? After all wasn't Brendon more interested in herself than anyone else?

“I'm sorry Brendon! Sometimes my feelings just get out of control!" Shannon let go of him then looked up at him with watery eyes filled with misty tears as she continued, "We've already done more intimate things between us than just hugging or kissing each other...you are my first man after all...so sometimes...I really can't control myself! Sorry Brendon!"

Shannon's behavior made Brendon appear petty and overly concerned. He felt restless inside. He couldn't let go of Ranita, but Shannon was becoming a big problem. Ultimately, it was he who had hurt Shannon. "Shannon, I haven't divorced yet," Brendon made up an excuse.

But what was really going on inside, only he knew.

Shannon bit her lip and lowered her head, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry, Brendon. It's all my fault that you're in this difficult situation,” she said, on the verge of tears again.
