Chapter 2308
Chapter 2308
Bella's eyes stung, and her nostrils flared slightly as she held onto a sliver of hope. "Are we friends? Lovers? Exes? Or am I someone you can't let go of?"
Justin's deep, starry eyes remained unreadable. "I don't know."
Looking at the expressionless man before her, as unyielding as a wall of iron, a wave of helplessness washed over Bella, followed by an indescribable sense of disappointment.
"Well, you've seen me now. You can go."
Unexpectedly, the next moment, Justin's tall frame suddenly pushed open the door with such force that Bella became unsteady on her feet. She let out a soft cry and fell backward.
Justin quickly bent down, his firm arm wrapping around her slender waist and lifting her up, their two warm bodies pressed tightly together.
Their faces were so close that they could feel each other's breaths.
Justin could even see the fine, nearly transparent layer of fuzz on her delicate skin.
"Let go of me!" Bella's heart raced as she wriggled in his arms.
But Justin's large hand on her waist only tightened. Every move she made seemed more like a teasing, a soft plea for attention.
"I thought you were tired. It seems to me that you have plenty of energy." Justin's breathing grew heavier as he effortlessly picked up the petite woman, carrying her straight into the hospital room. "Your leg is injured. Don't move unless you want to stay here longer."
Tears silently welled up in the corners of Bella's eyes as she buried her face against his chest, unable to hold them back.
The distance to the bed was only a few steps, but she wished he would hold her like this forever, carrying her endlessly.
As he placed her gently on the bed, the sudden emptiness in his arms made the muscles in his arms tense. That subtle, sharp sensation crawled up his chest, making him
uncomfortable.
Suddenly, his gaze fixed on something. Under the dim light, he clearly saw two silver strands of hair by Bella's temple.
Her hair had always been thick and jet black, as smooth as silk, making those few silver strands stand out sharply.
"Ow... That hurts!" Bella quickly covered her temple as she glared at him.
Justin swiftly plucked one out, staring at it seriously. "You have white hair."
Bella froze, and the next second, tears threatened to overflow from her eyes.
Back when they had lived together, she would often perch behind him while he worked in his study, playfully plucking out the occasional white hair she found.
--"Wow! Justin, you're done for! You're getting old! I just pulled one last week, and here's another!"
He would lift his head from his pile of paperwork and smile at her indulgently.
- "I know you like messing with my hair, so I grew a few for you to pluck."
"I heard that men who grow white hair are weak...."
--"Oh? Is that so?"
The next second, he would grab her by the waist, pulling her onto his lap, his hot hands roaming her body, each touch sending waves of desire crashing through her senses.
--"You'd know best whether I'm weak or not, wouldn't you?"
Bella could not hold it in any longer. Her eyes reddened as she slapped his hand away, and the silver strand floated to the ground.
"Justin... I hate you... I hate you so much!"
Justin frowned. "Why?"
"Don't you know pulling white hairs makes them grow back even more?"
Her face flushed red with anger as she balled her small fists. "I'm only 26, and I'm already stressed enough to have white hair! Isn't that miserable enough? I refuse to end up like you, aging prematurely!"
Justin stared deeply into her moist almond-shaped eyes, her pouty lips, and her adorable, angry face.
Suddenly, his mind went blank, and his breathing became erratic.
In the next moment, he bent down, bracing his left arm beside her head, and before he could stop himself, his thin lips crashed down on hers, sealing it with a kiss.
