The Diary Of My Dead Wife

Chapter 3: Premonitors of Abortion

The rain continued to fall from the sky, and it was colder than usual.
Still, Sophie continued to wait at the door of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Ten minutes...
Twenty minutes...
One hour...
Two hours...
Sophie didn't know what she was waiting for, but she continued to stand there.
The rain made her cold, and it was getting dimmer and dimmer from her eyesight.
She finally fell in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau and lost consciousness.
When she opened her eyes again, she was already in the hospital.
The nurse was giving her an IV Drip.
"Oh, you are awake now.How could you let yourself get wet in the rain when you are pregnant? Are you aware that you almost
had a miscarriage just now?"
She suddenly opened her eyes wide and looked at the nurse in disbelief.
"What did you say? I'm pregnant?"
"Yes, it's been five weeks.Do you want to call your husband?"
"No..?” The nurse sighed and went out.
The cellphone in her purse vibrated.Zac was calling her.
"I have been waiting for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau for ten minutes now.Where are you?"
"I'm..."

"You're just trying to trick me again, aren't you?" Zac's voice was irritated.
"Zac, I am asking you for the last time, if, I mean, if, you find out the truth and prove that I am not behind Edith's death at all, can
you not divorce me?"
Sophie said while tears fell down her face.
She bit her lips tightly in fear that he might hear her crying.
Zac wasn't responding.
"This is the last time I beg you.Find out the truth.Don't hate me.We won't divorce, OK?"
It was her last chance to save herself and the child in her womb.
She had to let go of all her self-esteem and pride and humbly begged him to give her a chance.
Sophie waited for a long time, but Zac didn't speak.
He suddenly hung up the call.
Sophie's tears had dried up already.
That was his most direct and quiet denial.
She knew it.
She rose quietly, removed the needle from the back of her hand, picked up her bag, and walked with her back slouched.
"Zac doesn't want you anymore.Aren't you ashamed? Why are you still begging him repeatedly?"
Edith's voice suddenly came from nowhere.
Sophie looked up and saw Edith coming towards her from the other end of the corridor.
Edith was looking at her disdainfully.
"Why are you here?"
"The hospital called my father. My father was not available, so I came instead of him."

Edith said and approached her slowly.
"Thanks for screwing up dad's plan.Because of you, I was able to meet Zac in advance.Otherwise, I don't know how long I am
going to wait to meet him.’ Sophie clenched her fists tightly.
"So, are you here to brag on me?"
"I just came to warn you.Be careful of what you say or else, or your life will be in danger."
Edith was already aware that Sophie had visited their house today.
Sophie should have heard all of her and her father's conversations if she guessed correctly.
Edith wasn't afraid of Sophie, of course.
She was worried that Sophie's nonsense would make Zac suspicious.
"Well, Edith, do you think you can trick Zac? You can fool him now, but do you think that you can fool him for the rest of his life?"
She looked straight at Edith’s eyes.
"Love is blind! He loves me, and he believes everything I say! As for you, you're just a tool for his anger! Take my advice and
divorce him!"
"What if I say no?"
"Then don't blame me if I ki-- you! You don't deserve to live! Your father doesn't love you, your mother and sister hate you, and
even your husband wants you to die! Why don't you die? If you die, Zac and your inheritance are all going to be mine! They are
all mine!"
Sophie couldn't bear it anymore, so she slapped Edith in the face.
"Ah!"
Edith let out a painful cry and then sprained her foot.
She suddenly fell in the direction of the stairs and rolled down.
