The Darwin Chronicles, Book One: The Mountain Ranges

Chapter 30

"Emmett," Amy whispered. Emmett groaned, but she quickly covered his mouth with her hand. "Emmett. Do you want to come with me?"

"Where?" He whispered.

"Ahead. These soldiers. They don't stand a chance against the Ciis. I say we go on ahead. Clear the path for them. Those monsters. They were sent by the Ciis."

Emmett groggily processed what she was saying. "Alright."

"Pack up. We're leaving now."

"Now?"

"Now. Meet me outside in five minutes. If you don't, I'm going alone." She stood and silently walked out of the cave.

Emmett quickly and quietly threw his stuff into his pack and hopped over the sleeping soldiers. Amy waited for him outside, her silver cloak blowing in the wind.

"Let's go," She whispered. She morphed into a a silver wolf and bounded away, further up the mountain. Emmett did the same and followed.
