Chapter 169
Vanessa
It's been at least thirty minutes since I met up with Mia to catch up but she's barely paid attention as only one thing seems to be of importance to her.
I once again shake my head at how she just stares at her hand and she glances at me with a giggle.
"You're really going to have to get used to this," she says. "I still can't decide what is cuter between the engagement ring on my finger or Charlotte! Time flies so quickly. I can't believe she'll be three years old in a week."
"I can't believe it either." I nod in agreement. "You know what else I can't believe? That you and Frank are getting married, considering how many times you broke up in the past three years."
"You're right about that but in the end, I realized that's the man I want to spend the rest of my life with."
"I can see that and that's why you won't stop looking at your engagement ring and don't have time for me."
She sighs. "I'm sorry. I promise I'll give it a rest. This is supposed to be some quality time together since you're so busy these days with establishing new businesses in different industries and expanding your hair care line, which by the way, has been such a huge success despite what that bitch did on that day. Will you ever visit her?"
"One of these days, I might."
"That's what you've been saying for the past few years."
"There have been times when I've woken up and decided that I'll go to see her, but end up changing my mind because she's not worth my time, but one day, I'll definitely pay her a visit."
"Do you think she's changed?"
"People like her never change."
"I guess that's why Dominic hasn't gone to see her either!"
"Vanessa?" A familiar voice says from the other side, making Mia and I look over.
My jaw drops in surprise but I soon compose myself. "Patrick?" My eyes dart between him and the beautiful lady beside him.
I could've easily told Dominic all about Patrick through a phone call but because he took the day off, I thought it would be more interesting in person.
As soon as I'm in the house, I take off my heels, one of the butlers placing some slippers at my feet.
"Where's Charlotte and my husband?"
"They're in the cinema room."
"I see," I say to her, making my way there before I can head up to the bedroom.
With the door to the luxurious cinema room open, the sight before me makes my jaw drop in amusement. They're both sitting on the floor, each wrapped in a blanket which goes over their heads. She sits very close to him as they watch her favorite show. Since I can only see their backs, I instantly burst into laughter so loudly that they both look back at me.
"What?" He dramatically shrugs with a chuckle.
"You two look so cute. I really wasn't expecting this."
"I'll do anything for my princess."
"Mommy!" Charlotte struggles to remove her little blanket, so she rushes to me while it's still on her and I lift her, planting a kiss on her cheek.
Dominic rises to his feet and approaches us, wrapping his arm around me for his own kiss and just as our lips touch, Charlotte bursts into tears and we stop.
She instantly calms down and he kisses her cheek, her face brightening up as she giggles.
"I hope you didn't forget that we have dinner plans tonight," he says to me.
"I definitely didn't forget."
"Good. Because tonight is special." He smirks at me and I can't help but wonder what he's up to.
"Guess who I ran into today?"
"Mia?"
"Seriously? That's a very bad guess." I chuckle in disbelief. "It was Patrick."
"Really? After so long?"
"Yeah and he's engaged. The lady is gorgeous."
"I guess he's really moved on. Was it awkward for you?"
"Not at all. I've put everything behind me. He even apologized for his past actions towards me."
"How is it that we haven't heard from him for years and not even through your dad?"
"My dad stopped monitoring him since he's been great at his job."
"Well, good for him. Now, is my princess hungry?"
My jaw drops at how he just suddenly pays attention to Charlotte and she has his full attention. Suddenly, he comes closer and seductively whispers, "Don't be jealous. Tonight, I'm all yours."
At my brand new hotel, Dominic made reservations for the whole restaurant just for us and I still can't get over the red rose petals on the floor, the warm and sensual lighting and the piano music in the O background.
"We've had so many date nights, but you've never done anything like this before," I say to him.
"That's because I wanted tonight to be special." He suddenly gets up from his seat and holds out his hand for me. "Dance with me."
Blushing, place my hand in his and
slowly get up, only for him to pulkme closer a little aggressively but with
so much passion and I just love it
when he does that.
As the tips of our noses touch while we slow dance, he quietly says, "There's something I've wanted to say for a while now."
"It must be special for you to only want to tell me about it here."
He smirks. "You're right about that."
"So, what is it?" I glance at his lips as I feel his warm breath against mine.
"I love you."
I instantly stop moving to the music, my eyes growing wide as my heart races in great contrast to the slow music.
I part my lips to speak, but words escape me.
He gives me a warm smile, tucking a few strands of hair behind my ear. "I said I love you, babe. For a long time, I've known that I've felt something special for you. I thought through everything I've done for you, it Would be enough to show you that love you. But I thought about it and you know what? No. I wanted to say it
I
with my whole chest that I love you."
The butterflies in my stomach make me feel like a teenager in love for the first time and finally, I find my words to speak.
"I love you, too."
"Come here," he whispers, gently placing his hand at the base of my chin.
As we break into a passionate kiss, I smile against his lips but I'm not the only one.
The joy in my heart makes me just want to jump on him, but I choose to compose myself as the manager's watching us.
Firmly, he holds onto my waist, not letting go of me as he deepens the kiss and my heart flutters at the fact that he loves me.
He suddenly pulls away, rubbing his thumb along my lower lip as he bites his lip and says, "Don't you think Charlotte needs a sibling?"
