The Curse of a Silly Deal

Chapter Weird

EMILY KING POV

What’s the use of a car when we have the power to run faster than the wind?

“Hey, you can run, right?” Joel looked at me.

“Of course. I mean, everyone with strong legs and healthy body does, right?” I raised an eyebrow looking at him.

“No, I am asking about your ability to run fast like, you know, vampire?”

“Uh-about that...well...I'm not sure,” I looked at him with a dumbfounded look.

“What?!” Joel's eyes widen.

“Look. I-I-uh... don’t remember if I have that ability, okay?” I sigh as Joel stare at me in bewilderment.

Okay, so maybe not everyone got to run fast.

“That’s impossible.”

“Why?” I whine, and Joel snapped at me.

“Stop whining like a bitch! I hate the sight of it!”

He walks away from me. His word made me step back a few feet away. My heart pounds in fear and hurt.

I wanted to cry but thinking about it, Joel would hate me more. I shake the thought off, wanting to cry, away, and sigh.

Joel talked with Marcus a few distances away in a serious discussion while both of them glances at me from time to time.

Finally, Marcus walks towards me and grab my arm before we vanish into thin air.

I gasp in shock as we came to a halt.

“Here we go,” Joel said behind us with a few guards following him.

I look around the place to see many people walking to and fro in front of the palace. The palace was big, and I stare at it longingly.

Why do I have this feeling?

My heart clenched in pain at the sight of it.

What is this place?

A sudden flash of memory makes me yelp in pain. I clutch my head, closing my eyes and bend down as I whimper.

Joel, who might’ve heard me quickly turns around and holds me by my waist. He urged Marcus and the others to go first. Then, he held me tightly in his arms.

“Don’t misunderstand. I do this so that no people will be suspicious of what happens to you and avoid them from thinking I am hurting you,” he said as he stroke my hair gently.

“You okay?“ he asked when the pain on my head went away.

I nodded.

Joel put his hand on my waist, and we headed inside the palace. I'm growing more and more uncomfortable with his touch.

It doesn’t help that my heart pounded inside my chest loudly as if I'm afraid of getting caught.

“Don’t be so nervous,” he whispered in my ear.

“What can I do? I can’t help it,” I chuckle nervously.

“Just think about my handsome face,” he stated.

“Not helping at all.” I chuckle at the thought of his face.

“I’m not gonna leave you alone.”

“Are you sure? Cause I can see every girl gawking at you ever since we enter this place.” I rolled my eyes.

“Are you jealous of them?” he asked in an amused tone.

“No. Never.” I turned my smile upside down.

He furrowed his eyebrows.

“Just-” he sighed and grabbed my shoulders, turning me around so I can face him.

“Stay beside me” I eyed him with curiosity.

“You’re acting weird,” I stated.

He shrugged his shoulder and put his hand on my lower back.
