The Crown Of Fire - Book 1 of The Stormrider Chronicles

Chapter Eddie II

It took him days but he found the otherworlders, the other humans like him.

One was older than him. The boy. He had to have been an adult. He was big enough to be an adult. The other one was a girl, his age. She looked too much like the boy to not be related to him.

He didn’t make himself known to them. It was easier this way. To watch, and then decide how he was going to get them to Seraphina. He noticed that there was another girl with them too, closer to the boy’s age.

She carried weapons. And she looked similar to Seraphina, not more beautiful but similar. To him, no one was more beautiful than Seraphina, how could they be? She was kind to him when she could have easily killed him. But she didn’t, she chose to let him live because she saw promise in him.

But this girl put all of this at risk. He could not be with Seraphina until she had the other humans, and as long as they were protected by this woman, there would be no way to get them there. He’d thought about hitting her over the head with a rock while she slept. But then the problem arose for the humans, what would they do in retaliation, they seemed close to this girl. But then he thought of how he could explain it. He could say that she intended to kill them because she was really a bad person, trying to kill them to take power from the Queen.

The Queen, who was good, kind, and beautiful.

He couldn’t believe all the filth that she’d spewed about Seraphina, this girl who knew nothing at all. It was right foul.

But if he bid his time, he would have the humans and be on his way to see Seraphina, that he knew and couldn’t have been more excited for.

She’d given him her orders. They were direct and clear.

Bring the humans to me, and you’ll be my heir. Being her heir meant that he’d be with her all the time. And it was the most simple order.

A human was more likely to trust a human than a stranger from another world. So, he watched him.

The girl who looked like the boy would be the first one to believe him. The boy would take more time, as the oldest, he would try to take control. But it wouldn’t take long before he fell in line and trusted Eddie as much as he trusted the stranger and they’d be on their way to Seraphina.

He hadn’t thought of what Seraphina would do when she had them. Quite frankly, he didn’t care. He just wanted to be with her again. Once she has the humans, he will be with her, he will be her heir.

She might kill them if they pose a threat. Which wouldn’t be a bother too much. If they were a threat to her, they were a threat to him. His mother told him that a monarchy needed to be strong. That’s why they didn’t hold hands in public, or show any kind of emotion. And why they always had their army at hand.

And if she doesn’t kill them, she might make them her slaves. Again, one can’t have too many slaves.

Either way, it ends up with him being with her.
