Chapter 28 - The Finale
After turning those who wished to be, the Crimson Noble army headed outside. “It is almost pathetic, the lack of resistance we faced getting here.” Joseph looked around, and pointed off in the distance. “That would be why, my friend.”
As King Albert led the remaining Nobles against the Altros, he regretted his decision to openly attack. He could see that they were vastly outnumbered by the vicious beasts that made up the enemy. The Altros were gaining ground at a rapid rate. A group of Altros had run around the Crimson Nobles, and was now fast approaching himself, Lady Seraphina and Elder Simon. As they prepared themselves for the inevitable death, the group of Altros fell, lifeless, each with a hole in their heads, where their eyes used to be. King Albert tried to regain his composure, looking around, until he saw…
“Next line, FIRE! Melee combatants, ready your charge!” Joseph was leading an army, alongside Draken, and was charging the Altros from behind. In the distance, Ami and Dimitri led rifle squads. King Albert could hardly believe his eyes! We are saved.
“Alright mates, listen up! We are no longer fighting for humanity, but for the survival of the entire world! We are fighting for all living creatures; even the ones we didn’t even know were real! The Altros have been allowed to run rampant long enough! Today, in one forlorn strike, we shall free the world from their tyranny! Some of us may die, but it will NOT be in vain! To honour! To death! To glory! To FREEDOM!” The remnants of the Resistance army charged, weapons blazing.
Horror could be seen replacing the relief on King Albert’s face, as the Altros began to cheer, “Hail the Highlords!” The remaining four Highlords appeared before Joseph and Draken. Gemithos, the twins, stepped forward. “Would you care,” “To test your luck?” “Two on two,” “Seems fair.” They lunged forward, as their targets prepared to counter them. It was remarkably easy to defeat them, as they became complacent in their believed invincibility. Allison, the Harlot, laughed, as Draken charged at Alphenthos. “You’ll pay for what you did to Geoff!”
Joseph made short work, sending what was left of Allison to the depth of Hell. As he looked over, however, he watched Alphenthos throwing Draken’s body to the ground. “You’re next Dragon.” Joseph felt his rage growing again. “You BASTARD!” The ground began to shake, as Joseph began shouting with rage. Alphenthos stepped back. He was experiencing true terror for the first time, as he became frightened of what was happening. He lost his footing, falling back into a fissure. Joseph’s eyes appeared to be on fire. “For your unforgivable crimes against the world, you shall become one with it,” he growled. The fissure closed around the last Highlord, leaving only his head exposed. Joseph walked over, turning his blades so that they matched a pair of shears, and took Alphenthos’ head off.
A flash of light, and a loud crack rang out across the battlefield. Sephithos was standing in front of Joseph.
