Chapter 36: Life

Damian, his mother and Milo all had a large meal within the inn as they narrated the Newbie Competition to her and had a good time.

Over time Milo had warmed up to Sarah and was no longer scared of her.

From the way she treated him, that was equivalent to the way she treated Damian, Milo also felt the warmth of a mother from her and was grateful for it as he also placed her in his heart as somebody to protect.

After their meal, they went to visit and check out his mother's residence and pill making room which was luxurious and large filled with all kinds of expensive herbs that Sarah was learning to use.

Sarah was valued massively by the pill foundation and had even become the disciple of the foundation master with her talent for cultivation and pill making and young age, only being 28.

The Green House Pill Foundation were a neutral power within the country that were also powerful in their own right as they were relied on slightly by many for pills and medicine and were, therefore, the perfect organisation for Sarah to join without any issues.

In the world of cultivation, living to a hundred years was common and people with higher strength could surpass that threshold age according to their strength, so with that Sarah at the age of 28 as a cultivator was still considered quite young.

She had been through a lot in her life and despite being born into wealth, envy was untameable, as she was forced into a marriage by her family.

However, after escaping and returning a year later with a child she was continuously mistreated by her family that were looking at her as merely a tool to gain more status and wealth from the royals.

She had never had the chance to use her full potential and talent in cultivation and pill making until now.

It seemed as though life was beginning to change for the better for both Damian and Sarah who both were in complete understanding of each other.

They shared a heartfelt farewell as they both separated for the first time since being with each other, not knowing how long it would be before they had time and the opportunity see each other.

However, neither of them were upset and were happy for each other as they both separated to improve their life.

Damian left his clothes behind with his mother and had his own academy uniform and clothes from the academy as he left with Milo.

[Mother you sacrificed 10 years of your life to raise me, now I will return the favour by becoming the greatest and making your sacrifice worth it] declared Damian within his mind as he strolled back towards the academy with Milo, both stuffed with the large amounts of food Sarah had bought for them.contemporary romance

"Milo we should get some rest and be ready for tomorrow where we will begin our academy studies" advised Damian as they neared the academy and seeing that it was getting dark.

"After such a long day, what else could we possibly do" agreed Milo as they entered the academy.

Upon entering the time they entered was recorded onto the schedule that they kept track of and they headed towards the white ranked residences.

They returned to their residence in the dimmed light of the setting sun as the white ranked residential area was weirdly quiet.

Heading back to their residence that was situated in the centre, Damian and Milo walked in without any issues and went straight into their rooms and fell fast asleep after the long day that they had both had.

8 hours later

"Damian, Damian wake up" screamed Matilda as she rushed into Damian's room.

Damian jumped up from the sudden alert and clenched his fists in preparation to defend himself, but when he saw Matilda he calmed down.

"What's the problem," asked Damian as he yawned and wiped his eyes.

"Outside quickly" she screamed as she dragged him out of bed and down the stairs.

Damian was confused and still tired as he saw Cole and Julia stood at the front yard crowded by youths that were blocking off the exit.

"What the hell is going" he exclaimed in shock.

"They can't come onto the residence because of the rules of the academy, but they all want to challenge us for the residence. And we unknowingly chose the residence that can be challenged for with 1-month notice" informed him Julia.

Damian in such a situation was jolted to an alert and awake state from the sleepy state he was in as he stepped forwards beside Cole at the edge of the residence.

"Who would like to challenge us for the residence," he asked simply.

"We would", "Yes us too", "I do" the crowd all began to call out, seeing Damian and his friends as easy targets.

Initially, most were scared to take the central residence that could be fought for, but seeing who had taken it, many were eager to battle for it.

"You must be under the age of 12 if you want to challenge us as we are only 10 years old and must give us 1-month notice like the rules state" declared Damian courageously, as his will to protect himself, his friends and his dignity suppressed his nervous and shy nature.

"If you want to place a challenge do so at the combat arena, but for now scram from my residence" roared Damian.

Hearing his conditions that were allowed by the academy the students began to disperse as the name of Damian, who had caused a commotion and offended many upon entering, began to spread throughout the outer academy.

"Damian are you sure that was the right choice, you have just offended so many people" managed to utter Julia while Cole and Matilda were shocked by his actions.

[Conflict is part of life and will help me increase my strength] Damian told himself, unwilling to back down from a challenge.

"I will not be stepped on anywhere, including this academy, and will become the strongest" he stated simply, as he returned inside the residence.

Damian was barefoot and had only just woken up and began to scruff up his white hair.

"We have our first lesson in an hour, you guys should get ready" he called out as he went to wake up Milo and prepare for his first lesson in Akegria Academy.
