The Chronicles of Moon

Chapter 77

Fair Trade

Moon wakes up in her bed, sitting up too quickly, making the room spin around her, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to stand up and find Bella and Colin. That only makes her worse, and she has to sit back down as the room spins more.

“Hey, slow down. You took a pretty good knock to the head. Doc just left. Don’t make me call him back here.” Colin’s voice is laced with concern as he crouches down in front of her. His face is bruised, and the cut on his eyebrow has a few butterfly bandages to hold it closed as it heals.

She throws her arms around his neck, relieved to see him relatively fine. He winces a bit but catches her holding her close to him, breathing her in, feeling waves of relief wash over him.

“Where is Bella? Is she alright?” She pulls back to see his face, and his eyes searching for anything that might tell her she should be rushing to find Bella.

“She is okay, I promise. She doesn’t remember what happened, and she woke up hours ago feeling fine. There isn’t a mark on her, I don’t know how it is possible, but she is fine. Much better than you. Now relax, okay.” Colin pushes the hair back out of her face and looking at her softly so relieved that she seems alright as well.

“What about Eos, Caleb, and Maddox? What about everyone else?” Moon tries to get up, but Colin holds her in place.

“Relax, please. Maddox is dead; I owe Chris for that. Caleb is locked up. I have questions for him and Eos, but all of the gods were gone when I came too. We have a few people with injuries but nothing that won’t heal in time. We didn’t lose anyone, thanks to David showing up with reinforcements. He lost a couple men. Ben lost a lot of blood and needed a transfusion, but he will be fine. He was the worst out of anyone. Now I’ve given you a report. Will you please lay back down and rest?” Colin raises his eyebrows, staring her down. He is still holding her in place, and it’s clear he has no intention of letting her get up out of bed.

Moon sighs in relief and from being incredibly dizzy and reluctantly nods her head. He lets her go just to help her move back onto the bed. He climbs in next to her, holding her to his chest.

“You had me worried, you know. You need to tell me what you remember because all I saw was that light and then the blast. She tells him everything she can remember though some of it feels fuzzy, like a dream she can’t quite recall. Kiara helps her fill in some of the missing pieces of the fight, and Kenna attacking Eos. Moon does remember Helios holding Kenna as she shifted back to the small form of Bella.

Colin is quiet for a long time holding on to her and stroking her hair, seemingly lost in thought. Bella is unique and the child of Helios; that much is clear, but why leave her here with them still? What kind of father does that? He can’t imagine doing something like that, but Helios must have a reason.

“Where are Rachel and Alexis? Were they the ones passing information to Jamie? Did anyone find him? I thought I saw him in the fight?” Moon asks, shifting to look up at Colin.

“He was there, but we can’t find him now. Also, the twins have gone missing as well. I have Caleb prisoner, and Maddox is dead, so I don’t know where they would have run to.” He says, looking back at her.

“What are you going to do to Caleb?” She asks tentatively.

“Don’t ask me things you don’t really want an answer to, Kitten.” He strokes her cheek, but his eyes are dark with anger, just thinking of what he has planned for his brother. Chris has been working on him trying to get any information, but so far, he has refused and only wants to speak to Colin. Caleb’s resolve has been impressive so far. Not many would be able to hold up to Chris’s questioning.

“Maybe with Eos gone, I can make him talk,” Moon says slowly and thoughtfully. He is hesitant to let her go and try, he fears that seeing what has been done to Caleb might be too much for her, and she is still recovering. “You can stop worrying about me and overthinking this. Let me try.” She huffs when he stays silent for too long.

“I don’t want to push you too soon. You were hurt pretty badly. If it had been anyone else that was that close to the blast, they would have been dead. I still don’t understand how Bella is unscathed and you are alive. I’m grateful that you are, but I have seen explosives that didn’t detonate with that much force.” He holds her a bit closer, kissing the top of her head more for his own comfort then hers, “I can’t stand the thought of anything happening to you.”

“I understand you are worried, but I think I can help now that Eos seems to be gone. If you just tell me what you want to know, then maybe I can make him tell me. I also remembered some other things I can do other than just commanding someone.” She smiles slyly, recalling the extent of her new powers.

“Oh, care to tell me?” Colin moves a bit to see her face and her grinning.

“Well, I can make him hallucinate, for one, and I can make him sleep and have some control over his dreams and a few other little things like that.” Moon smirks.

“Remind me to never upset you.” He says, more playful now.

“I wouldn’t suggest it. Now, will you let me help you question him?” She raises a brow, daring him to tell her no.

“You can, but first, you rest and recover,” Colin says firmly, daring her to defy him now.

“Fine tomorrow then.” She smirks and snuggles in close to him; closing her eyes, she still feels dizzy, and every part of her is hurting. Sleep sounds more appealing than dealing with Caleb right now anyway. Though she still wonders where did the three traitors disappear to anyway?

“So nice to have you two here with me. You aren’t my usual playthings, but you are pretty enough; I think you will do for now.” Pan smiles darkly as the two women hold each other’s hand, backing away from him slowly just to bump into a wall that wasn’t there before.

“What do you want with us, and where are we?” Rachel snaps, trying to sound like she isn’t afraid.

“We are in a place where no one will find you. This is my realm, and I rule it well. As for what I want with you.” His smile widens, “Well, you were traded to me for my services. You are my pets now, and I will treat you well if you behave.” He chuckles when they try to back up more, pressing themselves to the wall.

“Let’s get to know one another, shall we?” He smirks, stepping forward. Both women close their eyes, making him laugh as he takes each of their hands. He’s so much stronger than them that they can’t fight him off as he leads them away still chuckling to himself.
