The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)

Chapter 591

"So, Charlie knew about this too? And I'm the only one left in the dark?"

When Nancy heard Henry's stubborn remark, she realized he was getting worked up again, which gave her a bit of a headache. "Henry, don't get upset. I didn't do anything wrong. Stevie just came to see me, that's all." "Really?"

Nancy was not one to overthink things, but that did not mean Henry was so easily convinced. He squinted his eyes, his gaze fixing on Steven. Steven, in turn, met Henry's eyes calmly, without any hint of defiance. "Henry, he's a guest, and besides, Stevie is Charlie's friend!"

Henry glanced at Nancy, then softened his intimidating demeanor as he turned his attention to Eloise. "And who's this?"

"Eloise, come and meet your uncle!"

"Hello, Uncle Henry!" Eloise greeted Henry politely, though she kept her distance, which actually made Henry think better of her.

At least this girl did not seem to have any ulterior motives regarding Nancy. "Where are Charlie and Noelle?"

"Those two just said they wanted to go out for a walk," Nancy smiled. "Come on now, stop frowning. Don't you know my personality by now? If I don't want to do something, nobody can force me."

Hearing this, Henry's expression softened, but he still did not show much warmth toward

Steven. It wasn't personal; rather, it was because Steven was the adopted son of the Naylor family. With his reputation over the years, Henry knew Steven was no ordinary person and couldn't be underestimated.

Meanwhile, Noelle strolled around with Charles, holding his hand. "Charlie, you said Steven is the Naylor family's adopted son. How come I didn't know about this?"

"Not many people know about it, so it's not surprising you didn't," Charles explained. "Come to think of it, I have Aunt Nancy to thank for my acquaintance with Mr. Fischer. His connection to the Naylor family is quite complicated, but you don't have to see him as one of them."

"Yeah, I get that. But the girl Steven

brought, she's Eloise, right? She seems harmless enough, but something feels off. If she's really Naylor, why didn't Steven take her to Cascade City to meet the family? Why come to Brookville and see Aunt Nancy instead? I don't quite understand."

"Mr. Fischer has his own way of doing things. If he brought her here, then there's likely no issue. And much like me, he spent a good deal of time with Aunt Nancy growing up

"Really?" Noelle was a bit surprised. "Aunt Nancy must be really special for both you and Steven to respect her so much." Charles nodded, not denying it at all. "Aunt Nancy is a very perceptive woman. Uncle Henry went through a lot to be with her."

"Anyway, it's about time we head

back!" Noelle pointed at her watch. "What are we going to cook today? Uncle Henry and Aunt Nancy will be there, along with Steven and Eloise. There's us too, which makes it six people in total."

"Yeah, I've already asked Ronald to prepare fresh ingredients, so everything's ready when we get back."

"You always think of everything, Charlie." Noelle hugged Charles' arm, looking up at him. "I feel like having casserole." "We have that!"

"What about roasted beef?"

"Got it."

"And broccoli?"

"Also covered."

"I knew you'd take care of everything, Charlie."

By the time they got back, Henry had already returned, and the atmosphere in the living room was quite pleasant.
