The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)

Chapter 589

"I understand that it might be hard for you to believe me, Nancy. Even when I first saw her, I couldn't believe it either. It's incredible how two people can look so alike," Steven said as he motioned for Eloise to show her arm.

"I haven't brought Elly back to the Naylor family yet; I wanted you to see her first. You used to hold Elly when she was little, and she had a birthmark on her arm. Do you remember that?"

"I remember, I do," Nancy nodded, recalling the distinct birthmark that was hard to ignore.

Steven gently lifted Eloise's sleeve, revealing her slightly thin arm, which was marred with multiple scars. They were seemingly accumulated over a long time, now healed into marks.

Nancy was visibly shaken by the sight of the scars. However, when she saw the heart-shaped birthmark on Eloise's arm, she was finally convinced. "Yes, Elly did have a birthmark like this on her arm when she was little, though it was smaller back then. Are you really Elly?"

"I don't know," Eloise shook her head and then looked at Steven. "I'm called El. When Steven found me, he said I was part of the Naylor family."

Eloise's attitude was somewhat cold, which contrasted sharply with her gentle appearance. This only made Nancy more certain that the girl before her was indeed the long-lost Eloise. "Stevie, how did you find Elly after all these years?"

"It was a chance encounter," Steven explained.

Just then, Noelle came out from the kitchen carrying two cups of tea. "Let's all sit down and chat," she suggested, then looked at Charles.

"Charlie, I feel like going for a walk. Will you join me?"

Charles narrowed his eyes slightly and nodded. "Sure." Standing up, he said, "Aunt Nancy, you and Steven have a good talk. Nelly and I will go for a walk."

After Charles and Noelle left, Nancy beckoned Eloise to sit beside her. "Don't be nervous, I won't bite."

"I'm not nervous!" Eloise smiled faintly. "It's just a bit unfamiliar."

"We searched for you everywhere in

the country but never thought to look abroad. I was overseas these past few years, and it was by chance that I found Elly. It turned out she was adopted by an

ove

Amestia-Westelian couple and taken overseas, which is why we lost track of her."

Steven handed Nancy a document. "I was worried about making a

mistake, so conducted a thorough investigation. Elly was abducted when she was young and moved through various places. She was eventually taken in by an orphanage before being adopted by the couple."

With trembling hands, Nancy opened the document and was stunned by what she saw. She looked at Eloise's arm again, covered in scars, and tears began to fall. "Oh, my poor child, they..."

"I'm fine," Eloise said quietly, pulling her arm away from Nancy. "Those things happened when I was little. I don't really remember much. After I went to Amestia, I lived a good life, and my adoptive parents were good to me." "Really?"

"Really," Eloise nodded. "If Steven hadn't come to find me, I probably wouldn't have come back. I just wanted to see my biological parents and then leave. I don't intend to disrupt their lives."

"That won't do. You are a Naylor, and

now that Stevie has found you, you should return to the Naylor family. But why did you come to see me first?" Nancy asked, a bit puzzled. "Stevie, you know that I fell out with the Naylor family because of my marriage to Henry. We haven't been in contact for many years."
