Chapter 1
"Pause you who read this and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would have never bound you, but for the formation of one link on one memorable day"-Charles Dickens Great Expectations.
This story isn't for the faint of heart, because the powers of good do not rule this world, and "heroes" "villains" and other characters are living in a grey world where no one is truly free from anything. It's a dirty world and people can't help adapting to live with the times, and that means getting dirty.
The powers of good don't rule this world, because warriors on both sides of the debate are wrong, and there is no right side. The humans and the elves are fighting a war that borders on genocide and this story is about how they got there. The world is a living underworld and this story shows how the chain of hatred and distrust got started and also shot out of control, and how we can fix a broken world.
The main character has the ability to save the world by being able to see both sides as she and her allies fight to change the world. However, can a world as corrupted as this be saved?
That's what this book is about; how do you save a world that's already going down the drain?
There are so many wars and confrontations over land, love, money, and hatred, but how do they escalate from simple hatred to all-out war, which can lead to genocide. How does war escalate to genocide and what is the difference between waging war as a human and waging war as a monster? How does war change people for the worse or better, and why do some people choose to involve themselves in a war that isn't their own?
These questions and more will be answered in this novel, but be warned, a happy ending is not what you will get at this novel's end, and the only hero you will get is the main character. I hope you enjoy reading your way through a chained up world, and maybe we can figure out how the first link got formed on one memorable day….
