Chapter 313 A Guest
In the Beckhams' Mansion, Harrison had just finished his dinner when he was told that Magnus was here.
The living room was filled with the aroma of tea. Harrison looked at Magnus sharply and asked him, "You didn't work at the ST Group recently. Did Joseph ask you to do anything?" Magnus was surprised, "You already knew?"
Although Harrison asked Magnus, he had already done the investigation. He asked Magnus to come just for the confirmation. It was the same every time when Magnus came to find him. "Tell me about the girl, Pola."
Harrison took a sip of his tea with a frown, and there was something a little severe and forbidding about his face.
Magnus swallowed hard, but his throat felt dry, so he sipped the tea as well.
"Six years ago, Mr. Beckham asked Caesar to arrange for the surrogacy. And they planned to ask the surrogate mother to go abroad after she bore a child. But, Pola accidentally replaced the girl they had arranged in the beginning and came to the hotel. Nevertheless, Caesar sent someone to spy on Pola for some time and found that she was pregnant, so they asked her to give birth to the children." Magnus explained that briefly. Harrison was shocked and a bit angry, "That's absurd."
In Harrison's mind, it was absurd that Joseph pursued surrogacy to deal with him. And Joseph even made a mistake unconsciously.
"Such a good girl, what a jerk!"
Magnus explained for Joseph carefully, "Caesar should have compensated Pola."
"Compensate?" Harrison was more irritated, "He really believes that he can do whatever he wants with his money."
The atmosphere in the living room was getting more and more intense.
Feeling awkward, Magnus kept drinking his tea, and he was almost full.
Mark tried to break the tension, so he whispered, "Mr. Beckham, Mr. James hasn't finished his words. You should calm down and let him explain why this girl comes back." Hearing this, Harrison nodded his head.
Magnus breathed with a relief secretly, "That's because Joseph found something went wrong with the surrogacy. Then he sent me to investigate. After the further confirmation, I found Pola was that girl. She was married, but she had no kid. Besides, her husband got the advanced gastric cancer, and there was no much time left for him."
Harrison felt pity for this.
"We should offer to help now that we know about that."
Magnus shook his head, "Mr. Beckham told me to transfer the money to her, but she didn't receive. She said it was impossible to cure her husband, so the money was useless. She would go to Britain for further study after her husband's funeral six months later. But she did not have a kid after she got married, so she only wished to meet little Noah before she went abroad."
Harrison said in a low voice, "That seems a reasonable request."
"Mr. Beckham, I think we should discuss this later," Mark reminded, "If Noah met his mother, what should Ms. Downey do?"
Hearing this, Harrison frowned deeply.
That was a tricky problem, he thought.
After Hayden met Pola in the restaurant, she was talking about business with her clients these days. She attended plenty of dinners and she went to the hotel to sleep most of the time.
In fact, she was not that busy, but she was trying to avoid meeting Joseph.
Harrison's birthday party was before the Christmas, and the invitation letter was sent to the Green Lemon Clothing which signaled that the Beckham family and Green Lemon Clothing would establish business relations in the future.
"Ms. Downey, although you're still angry with Mr. Beckham, you will attend this party, won't you?"
Anna gave the invitation to Hayden, looking at her carefully.
The sunset glow shone through the window. Hayden stared at the red invitation letter, finding the characters "Birthday" on it quite dazzling.
Instead of being angry with Joseph, Hayden was upset by herself. But she could not always hide from him.
"He came here this afternoon?"
"Yeah." Anna answered immediately, "As usual, he bought us some desserts. You said you didn't want to eat those so I didn't brought in."
"OK," Hayden waved her hand, "I see."
She didn't come home these days, but Joseph came to the company with his assistant every day, taking plenty of food and drink. A few days later, Hayden felt she was tired to get angry with him. As the staff turned to support him, it seemed that she was the one who was being irrational.
She was going to attend the party and then explain to Joseph.
Now that there was some woman who claimed to be the mother of Noah, Hayden would prevent Pola from taking Noah from her.
The following evening, the Beckham family held the party in the top floor of Zifeng restaurant.
Harrison was traditional, so his birthday party was traditional Chinese style. There were ground tables all over the banqueting hall, with the main table near the host area. Harrison was wearing in black and gold, looking quite energetic.
Hayden was asked by Mark to sit at the main table next to Joseph when she got the restaurant.
In fact, she was not supposed to sit there since she and Joseph did not get married yet. Now that she sat at the main table, the guest all knew that she was the future Mrs. Beckham and they would count on her later.
"Hayden." Harrison was glad to see her.
Hayden nodded and looked at Harrison directly, ignoring Joseph next to her, "Where are Noah and Stella? I haven't met them."
Joseph said before Harrison answered her, "They went to the bathroom with nanny."
Hayden frowned slightly and did not reply, looking toward the bathroom.
She was to avoid eye contact with Joseph, but she caught a sight of a guest she did not expect.
The southeast corner of the banqueting hall was far away from the main table, and the guests sitting there were some people that the Beckham family barely knew. They tried hard to get invited. And some of them were journalists.
But Hayden descried Pola among them.
She looked quiet and tender in her cream-colored dress, looking toward the bathroom as Hayden did.
Hayden was unnerved as if her heart was grasped and pulled by someone. She turned around and asked Joseph right away, "You invited her to come?"
Joseph did not know what she was saying and then he saw Pola.
The laughter of children came out of the bathroom. Then Stella and Noah ran out, followed by the two babysitters.
"Mommy!" Seeing Hayden was here, the kids ran to her immediately. But something in Noah's hand fell to the ground when he passed through Pola.
Pola bent down and grabbed it, giving it back to Noah.
Hayden clenched her fists and got infuriated.00000
