Chapter 51-Biggs
It was warm. Deliciously, excruciatingly warm. The heat folded me into it snuggly. I let it encase me. I had never been so sublimely warm. I sounded like Rose. Rose. She was delicious and mind-numbingly warm. This heat felt like Rose.
When I inhaled, the air even smelled like her. Licorice and raspberries. Surprisingly decadent. This place was like being wrapped up in Rose. Her soft body, drunkening scent, and warm cunt. The only issue I had was that it was dark. She was not dark.
It was quiet too; except for my heartbeat. No, that wasn’t my heartbeat at all. It was too fast. My heart beat slower because it contracted longer than a human’s. The beating was not mine.
I tried to sit up but couldn’t. Looking around didn’t help either, there was only darkness. I reached out for Henson and couldn’t feel him. No! No. What was happening? When I reached out for Rose I was crushed by her essence. Where was Henson?
The last thing I remember was, was, fire. An inferno I couldn’t quiet. It started in my belly and spread like wild. Every time I tried to tamp it out it moved further away. Moving deeper into my body. I clawed deeper trying to stop the spread.
Then a balm spread across my thighs to my belly like aloe on a burn. I knew this power. It belonged to Rose. Her magick was cold. When she’d first used it to soothe me I’d been surprised. Now it was a welcome sensation against the fire. Quelling it faster than I had.
After that, I couldn’t remember anything. It was black, everything was gone.
I jerked when the speed of the heartbeat slowed. It was still quick but not like before. As I focused, I realized it was Rose’s heartbeat. It was so close, I had to be laying on her chest. It was the only thing that could explain all of this.
It has been a nightmare, and Rose was simply comforting me in my sleep. That was the only thing that made sense. I was using her body as a pillow and it was ample. All I had to do was sit up and then I could bury some part of me in her cunt.
Why couldn’t I wake up? No matter how hard I tried my eyes stayed shut and the silence was deafening. Inhaling deeply I settled myself and Rose’s heart echoed in my ears. Clearing with each breath and relaxing.
“Biggs.”
Rose!
“I don’t know if you can hear me.”
I’m right here. Look at me, Rose.
I reached for her but I could only grab air. I needed her to know I was there.
“I’m going to keep you safe. I’ll hold onto you for as long as you need me to. I promise.”
I have no doubt woman, but don’t know what’s happening. Why can’t you hear me?”
“Oh, I was awake. You’re not bothering me.”
Rose?
“If we could take the bandages off that would be nice.”
She wasn’t talking to me. Rose couldn’t hear me. I could hear her and feel her warmth but it’s like I wasn’t there. How could she not hear me? I was right beside her.
“Not even a year.” She sounded so sad.
“No, his brother gave me this. I don’t think he’s the ring type.” Rose’s warmth changed. It was still pleasant but not as intense.
Her laugh rippled across my skin. I rumbled happily in response. Her heat intensified.
“Oh, it’s ok. I don’t need a ring from Biggs.”
Her words gave me pause. She didn’t want a ring from me?
“I love him.” Her warmth enveloped me again.
She was talking about me.
“It’s all that matters. He didn’t get to pick me. Fate said this woman is yours suck it up.”
More like here is the morning sun, don’t fuck it up. She was my sun and Henson was my moon.
“Oh, you’re back!” Rose’s instant fervor surrounded me in dizzying pressure.
Then it hit me. No, he hit me, like a landslide. Henson’s energy flowed across me but it didn’t hug me like Rose’s did. It’s like it was outside of this little black bubble I was in. How could I feel him like a thousand boulders and then nothing?
“They only brought him up a few minutes ago. Once they’re finished settling the equipment we can see him.” Sadness soured Rose’s flavor.
“No, Hen he’s going to be fine. As long as I can keep him safe.” I could feel her temperature change when she would focus on me.
This is how I could tell who she was talking to. How her passion warmed and cooled with a thought. She stilled when someone I didn’t know was in the room. With Henson, her heart had rumbled. He caused her to quake like the earth, it was strangely comforting.
“When is Patti coming back? I have questions.”
Yeah Hen, I have questions too.
“She’s doing what?” Her irritation tickled.
“I need to know what to do to protect our mate’s soul.”
Protect my soul? What was wrong with my soul? Wasn’t my soul safe? I mean I was in my body. Wasn’t I?
