Chapter 87
The contract was so important that Joshua would not leave it in the hands of anyone else or at the company.
It was either in this villa or at Penelope Castle.
Based on Alan’s assessment, it was more likely at Penelope Castle.
He suddenly moved to Joshua’s villa, and all his equipment was stored in the attic of Victoria’s house. The only self–defense tool he had, two needles, was lost when he was kidnapped.
It was inconvenient since he was monitored by the housekeeper and bodyguards. He only had a cell phone and a toy gun in his backpack.
Clearly, it was impossible for him to sneak into Penelope Castle with just these two things.
Alan looked at the laptop on the desk.
He thought he could make use of that laptop.
Alan sat in front of the laptop and quickly turned it on. He typed quickly on the keyboard with his nimble little fingers.
This laptop cost tens of thousands of dollars, with great performance and fast speed. For this small computer enthusiast, it was indeed very enjoyable to use.
However, this was a gift from Joshua. Who knew if it was a trick?
For safety reasons. Alan formatted the hard drive, re–installed the system, and thoroughly scanned for viruses, ensuring that there were no viruses or trojan programs that would monitor or track him.
The Penelope Castle was located at the top of Windy Hill, while this villa was at the foot of Windy Hill.
Alan originally thought that the whole Melendez Villa used the same network system, but to his surprise, the two places not only used different networks, but even the resource management software used also was not interconnected. The network environments in both places were completely isolated.
It was impossible to directly access the network at Penelope Castle with the villa’s computer unless he hacked into the Penelope Castle. But that required him to plant a trojan program on any computer in the Penelope Castle first and breach their firewall.
It seemed that he needed a comprehensive plan.
Alan smiled. He suddenly got an idea.
At this moment, he received a message on his phone.
It was from Leslie, who sent several consecutive messages.
[Alan, what are you doing? I’m so bored, and I miss you. Can I come to find you?] This message was followed by a coquettish emoji.
[My mother is forcing me to take the online course of MBA again. In a few days, there will be a simulation test. I’m really not good at it, and I have no confidence in passing! Alas, if I can’t get this degree, my mother will probably kill me…]
He added a crying emoji, seeming quite distressed.
Then, he added: [Alan, I am secretly sending you a message now. My mother has installed monitoring cameras in my room. She has software on her phone that allows her to see my every move at any time. If she finds that I am not studying online diligently, she will definitely kill me…]
The emoji attached was still a crying expression.
Seeing such messages, Alan felt speechless.
Alan felt sorry for Leslie, who had everything he needed but had no freedom. Alan knew Leslie was not as carefree as him.
What was the difference between this and a caged canary?
But how could Alan allow his best friend to endure such injustice?
[Do you need my help?]
Alan asked, adding a cute smiling emoji.
[Alan, do you have a solution?] Leslie asked pitifully.
[Qf course, I am Alan.] Alan chuckled.
[Alan, please save me!] Leslie begged in a pettish manner.
[Find a computer with internet access and download what I sent you.] Alan instructed.
Chapter 87
Leslie had always been strictly controlled by his mother since childhood. On the surface, he appeared to be a timid child, but deep down, he was quite rebellious.
Since meeting Alan, Leslie’s rebellious genes seemed to have been activated.
When he heard that he could sneak out from under his mother’s surveillance, he became excited!
He remembered what Alan did yesterday when he sneaked into the kindergarten library.
Besides the books, there was a computer.
He didn’t believe that Alan had gone through so much trouble to sneak in just to read books.
Leslie was absolutely sure that Alan had targeted that computer.
So the conclusion was that Alan was a computer expert!
[Alan, are you going to help me hack into the surveillance at home?] Leslie asked excitedly.
[Correct!] Alan replied bluntly.
[Alan, you’re amazing!] Leslie praised, adding a clapped–hands emoji.
[Why are you so happy when 1 hacked into your family’s network? Aren’t you afraid that you will be punished with me if things fail?] Alan asked with a smile.
[Alan, you won’t fail. Besides, you’re Joshua’s son. Joshua would never punish you!] Leslie retorted with a smile.
“Don’t mention that man. Hurry up and get to work,” Alan urged.
This time he didn’t use any emojis.
The line of black text looked somewhat cold.
Leslie was stunned for a moment, wondering if he had said something wrong. He didn’t know why Alan seemed upset.
Every time they talked about Joshua, Alan would have a strange reaction.
“Is it because Joshua and Alan had just recognized each other as father and son, and Alan hadn’t yet adapted?” Leslie thought.
Actually, Leslie was really envious of Alan because Alan could be Joshua’s son.
Leslie also wanted a father, but unfortunately, he could never have one.
His father died before he was born, and even though his mother admired Joshua, Joshua didn’t like her.
Since Joshua and his mother could not be together, Joshua could never be his father…
Leslie could only fantasize in his mind.
Leslie had a computer in his room that belonged to him. He followed Alan’s instructions immediately.
Soon, Alan successfully invaded Penelope Castle’s network with a Trojan virus.
He connected the surveillance at Penelope Castle to his own phone and made some modifications. The real–time monitoring of Leslie’s room was switched to a loop of a video of Leslie studying in front of the computer.
After doing all this, Alan sent a message to Leslie: [You can move freely in your room now.]
[Wow! Alan, I love you!] Leslie jumped for joy.
Leslie’s favorite thing to do was to read.
Not the thick books about business management, but others, such as essay collections with beautiful sentences that could cleanse his soul
He also enjoyed reading adventurous stories which were full of imagination.
Because he was weak and sickly, he couldn’t go out and play like normal children, so these novels of exploring the unknown world became his spiritual sustenance.
Alan originally thought that Leslie would sneak out to play.
Unexpectedly, Leslie was still buried in his room reading, which made Alan speechless.
He risked hacking into Penelope Castle to give Leslie some free time, and he didn’t expect Leslie would spend it on reading. “Forget it. It is enough that Leslie could do what he likes, Alan thought.
Alan looked at Leslie, who was reading with relish, and his eyes were tender. Eventually, Alan smiled and said nothing.
