Chapter 65
“Ma’am, we’re so sorry. We didn’t mean it. We were only taking a souvenir photo because the car is awesome. We meant no
offense?”
The couple apologized sadly.
Whoever came to own this kind of car was either rich or powerful, well beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.
These were the kinds of people no one dared to cross.
Realizing how big the trouble they were in, the haughty couple immediately dropped to the ground.
Christy never expected that Rocky would come to her aid.
“None taken,” she replied lightly. “I don’t want to start a fight. You may leave. But be more respectful and considerate in the future.”
Thank you, ma’am. We won’t do it again. Are we truly free to go?” They could hardly believe it.
“Why would I lie about this?” Christy smiled awkwardly.
“Thank you, ma’am, you are too kind. No wonder the young master fancied you so much. A thousand blessings to you both!” The couple went on with their flattery, then left in a hurry.
Rocky and Christy remained.
“Ma’am, those two were the worst kind, Rocky said resentfully. “Especially the woman. She was trying to push you; I saw it with my own eyes. You’re just gonna let them get away with it?”
“Rocky, I’m fine anyways. Let it go. I don’t want to complicate things.” Christy replied with a smile. “You said that on purpose, didn’t you? Thanks for getting me out of there.”
“Ma’am, you’re too kind. If it were Mr. Melendez, he’d skin those outlaws.” Rocky smiled at Christy, returning to his usual cute grin.
“But ma’am, I didn’t say what I really meant just to get you out of a tight spot; Mr. Melendez just called; he said himself that you may take it out on his car if you are still angry at him.”
Christy’s face went red hearing this.
She wondered if Joshua was making nice to her.
Could a man as proud and arrogant as Joshua really learn his lesson?
That was quite a turn–up for the books.
“Gods. I can’t believe this man! Would it kill him to just come here and say he was sorry? And why would I take it out on his car? I got beef with him and not it; why should I blame the car for what he did? Is an apology too much to ask?” Christy said with a straight face
Rocky smiled.
He never expected Christy to be such a charmer.
This was the first time he saw a woman treat Joshua like that, and he had to play nice.
Joshua was concerned that she would get in his car, so he called Rocky to have him persuade her.
Yet it seemed unnecessary as Christy was quite easygoing.
Rocky smiled. “Understood, ma’am. Mr. Melendez also said if you got no beef with the car, then hop in!”
Um…
Christy felt like she had been played.
Joshua did not learn his lesson after all, that bastard!
Christy got in.
Rocky hurried into the driver’s seat.
“Non–stop to the company, ma’am?” Rocky asked.
“Yes, Christy replied. “Drop me off close by.”
Rocky witnessed the way Christy drove this morning; there were safety hazards, and he feared that something might happen 10 her, and insisted on driving himself.
Christy was okay with it.
Chapter 65
Rocky could drive if he wanted to.
She didn’t want the company to see her driving Joshua’s car anyway.
This way, people would think she was only hitching a ride with her friends.
“And Rocky, could you refer to me as Miss Christy, like you did this morning? I’m not married to Jushin” said Christy.
“Of course,” Rocky answered. Nervously, though.
So many women loved Mr. Joshua and would like to be his wife, but he chose Christy out of everyone. Rucky believed she was the luckiest woman on earth.
But he was still confused. Why was she still playing hard to get?
Rocky drove all the way to the Stellar Group front gate.
He said he would be waiting to take Christy back to the villa when she got off work.
Christy wanted to meet her son, so she accepted the offer.
There was no bus to the villa, for one. Even with the one that could drop her at the foot of the hill, it would still take an hour on fool.
Second, she did not own a car.
Christy’s really yearning for the next month now. At least she would be able to afford a car when her salary came, and there‘ would be no need for Joshua’s luxury car.
Cars were pretty cheap now; just a little bit over 10,000 dollars, with a down payment of no more than 4,000 dollars and a monthly installment of less than 300 dollars. Christy’s monthly salary was almost 30 thousand dollars; she could afford
that.
The red Bentley was unconventionally attractive. Even more so with such a handsome hunk driving it.
All of Christy’s female coworkers looked at her enviously when she got out of the car.
Joshua didn’t like the car because the color was too bright, and he bought it for garage collection, not driving. So no one in the company recognized it.
As for Rocky, he was one of the butlers at Windy Hill, and would not show up at the Stellar Group, so no one recognized him as well.
And the bars were extremely high for the Windy Hill butlers, on appearance, temperament, dressings, and skills.
So even though Rocky was just a young butler, his appearance, dressings, and temperament stood exceptionally out; it would have been easy to mistake him for a rich man driving a luxury car.
The gossip between Christy and Joshua piped down, but after the fight with the celebrity, Gloria, Christy was still branded a homewrecker by her female coworkers.
And then she was spotted in a luxury car driven by a handsome young man, only half a day after her relationship with Mr.
Melendez ended.
Folks in the company started to chatter.
‘Quite the nerve Christy’s got! Can’t believe how fast she hooked up with another rich fella after being dumped by Mr.
Melendez.
“Such a skittish woman, I hate her already.”
“No kidding. Such a pain in the ass, stuck in the same company with her.”
The chatters were painful to hear.
Christy heard the talks about herself when she passed the front desk, and felt a little sad.
She did not notice the Navigator SUV parked outside the Stellar Group, with Gloria inside.
Gloria was staring resentfully at Christy.
Words got out this morning that she hired the media to smear Christy. But even though the news went mysteriously off the air, she still lost a couple of million followers.
Gloria held great hatred for Christy.
