The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 199

Finally, Kieran couldn't take it anymore. He stormed out of his room, making a beeline for the source of the annoying noise at the far end of the house. "Don't people know not to DIY at night?!"

Who in their right mind would do home improvements at this hour?

"Freya! You..." Before Kieran could finish his sentence, he saw Freya perched on a ladder, drilling into something with an electric drill.

The professional construction workers had cleared out a while ago.

Freya lost herself in the music with her headphones on, unaware of Kieran's presence.

Spotting her phone on a nearby table, Kieran marched over and hit the pause button. Suddenly, Freya's world went silent.

"What happened to my Bluetooth?" Confused, Freya took off her headphones.

Then, she heard Kieran's voice from below. "Freya! Get down from there, now!"

His words startled her so much that she lost her balance, and she and the ladder toppled backward.

Kieran tried to dodge on instinct but got smacked right on the button by the falling ladder. A nearby paint can also tumbled over, splashing white paint all over him. "Ouch!" Freya gasped in pain as she tried to stand up, her gaze landing on Kieran, a mess of white paint.

"Freya Dawson!" Kieran gritted his teeth.

Ever since Freya moved in, his luck turned sour. He lost money, his projects failed, and he had this debacle! Was Freya cursed?

"Sorry, but who sneaks into someone else's room anyway?" Freya responded defiantly, "Ever heard of knocking?"

Hearing her audacious reply, Kieran slammed his hand on the floor frustratedly.

"Maybe you should take a shower?" Freya stepped aside, giving him space.

Kieran was all in paint, and it would only get harder to clean if he didn't wash it off soon. Quickly, Kieran got up and shot Freya a glaring look before leaving.

Although Freya shrank her neck, she defiantly flipped him off when he turned his back. "Serves you right!" Karma! It was karma!

Kieran angrily stripped off his suit jacket, shirt, pants, and slippers, tossing them all out the window of his room. Then, the pungent smell of paint clung to him.

"Freya... Freya..." In the shower, Kieran couldn't stop cursing her name.

Inviting her to stay at the Sutton family's place was the biggest mistake he ever made! Meanwhile, whistling a tune, Freya moved to the guest room next door.

There were plenty of rooms in Kieran's house. She didn't need to fixate on that particular one. But since it was the furthest from Kieran's room, she preferred it.

Thinking about how she needed to make Kieran despise her enough to call off their engagement, Freya wondered how she could escalate things.

Then it hit her, "Eureka!"

The following morning, Freya decided to up the ante by showing up before Kieran dressed in an edgy punk rock outfit.
