Chapter Chapter Fifty-Four
"Cy, are you ba-Anaztasia!"
Rozelyn immediately runs towards her bestfriend who now has a tiny bump on her belly. "How's your baby?" She asked sweetly.
"Babies, Roz."
Rozelyn didn't expect that. "Th-They're twins?"
She was visibly more surprised than Anaztasia upon finding out that she's carrying twins.
"Yup. It's a boy and a girl," Anaztasia purred as she stroked her belly gently.
"Gosh! I have two children to give gifts to every birthday!"
Two people chuckled behind Rozelyn. The other one is Avril. Yet, the woman beside him...she was wearing a doctor's coat and has pale skin. It was her crimson lips that struck her the most.
She had never seen her before. Yet, her smell is of a werewolf. Before Rozelyn could ask who she was, the woman already extended a hand and beamed at her.
"I am Dr. Fiona White, working at the local hospital. It's nice to meet you, Ms. Thaumaturge."
Rozelyn definitely blushed every time someone addresses her by her vampire type. She accepted and shook the hand in greetings, "So as you. How come I never seen you before?"
"She's a solitary Linguist Werewolf." It was Avril who answered.
An 'oh...' escaped from Rozelyn's mouth.
"Why didn't you invite him in the pack, Av?"
"Because I chose to be alone, beautiful Rozelyn." The doctor's smile is something else. It's different from the smile she gave to her upon shaking a hand. And she felt like she had a hunch that...that the doctor had a crush on her. Rozelyn was right as she peered at her mind. "What brought you here, doctor?"
Her firm and stern voice made the doctor flinch but then immediately shove the thought away. "The couple invited me to meet you and also—"
"Also what?" she demanded.
"They-Avril and Anaztasia have something important to say, Roz."
'Roz? How dare she call me by the nickname in which only the closest people of mine knew?' Rozelyn pondered for a bit.
Silence engulfed the entire living room. Romaine and Dorrien went out again. Cyrill is yet to come home. The hell she knows where he is. He only told her that he'll be going to the bakeshop. Yet, it had been lunch time already and he hadn't come home yet. The bakeshop is just a thirty-minute drive from their residence.
'What the hell is going on with people going out? Why do they keep on going out and only come home here to sleep and eat?!' Rozelyn's raging thoughts would have escaped from her mouth if it wasn't for the sudden break of silence coming from Avril Archer Arke.
"We're getting married, Roz. Anaztasia and I are..."
"Engaged," she finished his sentence by herself, together with a tight nod.
Her bestfriend is soon to be a wife and a mother of two-that is if they'll manage to behead the bitch who goes by the name of the Blood Mistress.
"So...what?" Anaztasia even dared to ask her; Avril and Dr. White just stared at her, waiting for her expression and reaction.
"What's 'what'?" asked Rozelyn.
"What is your reaction or expression about their grand announcement, Ms. Thaumaturge?"
"Please don't call me that, doctor. I am...flattered," Rozelyn stated with such a bland, simple tone that even the power couple of the Irish Pack gave her a be-nice glare.
"Just call me Rozelyn." She forced a smile even though her jaws hurt. Gosh, her heart already belonged to someone else. She can't manage to handle another creature to fall for her and fight for her attention. Cyrill was the owner of her 'heart', obviously despite being friend-zoned-or in her case, family-zoned.
"Okay, Rozelyn," Fiona's smile was pretty much genuine, one that reached to her ears. Rozelyn just gave her a tight, simple nod yet again.
'Whatever,' she thought. She just saw this doctor now amidst the months she had been a vampire/Amalgam and she can't stop but wonder and...suspect.
"She looks suspicious."
Avril and Anaztasia scowled. Fiona's lips draw into a gloomy look.
"She is not." Avril gave her a challenging yet ensuring stare. 'She is not,' he reiterated by whispering in her mind.
"Prove it," Rozelyn demanded with crossed arms. "Prove that you are not in league with the Blood Mistress and a spy for the Heathens."
Anaztasia grabbed her hand towards the corner so they may converse privately but she refused to be moved from where she was standing.
"Rozelyn. We are here to announce our invitation for marriage and not to fight for Fiona's status whether she's a spy of the enemy or not," Anaztasia looked at her straight in the eye to let her know that Fiona is no such thing. "Why not?"
"Because "
"Yes, I'm a spy." Fiona bravely stated it, without any sort of doubt or fear.
"I told you she is." Rozelyn then ignited her hand with blue flame. The doctor stepped back. Avril halted her.
"Enough, Rozelyn!" Avril still grasps her fiery hand, ignoring the burning sensation on his. "She is not their spy. She is mine."
Rozelyn's fire was extinguished. "What do you mean?"
"That's why she is not in the pack as she is my 'eye' on the outside world. She's a linguist," Avril briefly peered at her. "Fiona can hypnotize anyone by just speaking."
"The three of us are the only ones who know of her existence. If Rosette chose to be a solitary vampire despite still going to the Fortress of the Rose, so would Fiona. Though she had never been there and never met another creature of the night apart from us. It's just you, just today." Anaztasia let go of her best friend's arm. Avril let go of Rozelyn's hand.
Rozelyn inhaled. She let the silence and the cool breeze sink in onto her first. "Who else are you going to invite to your secret wedding?"
The three smiled. "It's just the four of us. Along with Hemera and Vesta."
She whistled, as if saying that 'too few for a wedding guest'.
"So you only have four attendees for your wedding," Rozelyn looked at her manicured fingers. "And no boys."
"No boys. It's our rule for this secret union." Avril's hand slid to Anaztasia's nape.
A 'Hmm' was only her mouth could say.
"Do you want to know where and when, Rozelyn?"
She stared at Fiona from head to toe and back to her newly-manicured fingers that she just did by herself. "Tell me tomorrow."
