Chapter 964
Chapter 964
In the end, Estelle had made peace with the situation, and as a mere onlooker, Brittany didn’t feel it was her place to comment.
Dominic and Isaac had brought it up too.
“You and the princess, you’re really gonna tie the knot?”
Lately, the buzz around town was all about the royal family joining forces with the Hartmans through marriage.
Ivy was hounded with the same question at every social event.
Dominic knew the Hartmans had bent over backward already. He had his duties, and there was no way he’d turn his back on his
family for love.
Dominic glanced at Estelle with a mix of helplessness and guilt. “Zac, you know I’ve been with Estelle for years, and I can give
her everything but marriage. It’s just our luck, being born into families like these.”
Isaac understood Dominic well. In many respects, Dominic’s commitment to Estelle was unwavering. Otherwise, he wouldn’t
have pushed his family to accept their relationship, and he certainly wouldn’t have agreed to marry Ivy, whom he regarded as a
sister. He was also supportive of Ivy finding her own happiness.
Dominic was simply biding his time, waiting to amass more power, before divorcing Ivy and, finally, marrying Estelle with their
heads held high.
“Dominic, I trust any choice you make.”
“I heard the Lynettes are celebrating something big.”
“Even you’ve caught wind of it?”
“The whole city is buzzing about it.” Dominic chuckled lightly. “You and Brittany haven’t had your wedding bash yet. Got a date in
mind?”
“Probably in three years.”
“Then, by that time, Estelle and I will make our way to Imperial City.”
For Dominic, leaving here wasn’t easy given his status, but a best bud’s wedding was something he wouldn’t miss.
“Sounds good.”
On the drive home, Brittany was clearly preoccupied.
“Still thinking about Dominic’s situation?”
Brittany didn’t bother to hide it. “Yeah, Ms. Ulbricht doesn’t seem the type to compromise easily.”
“They’ve known each other for over two decades, been together for ten. Their lives are entwined, inseparable. And let’s not
forget, Ivy’s Dominic’s bride-to-be. Ivy and Estelle are thick as thieves. They’ve got their own deal, with Dominic already living
with Estelle and Ivy planning to make excuses to stay at the palace. They only come together for public appearances.”
“And what about the rest of the Ulbrichts?”
“Her father Eamon Ulbricht couldn’t handle the pressure, took a fall, wound up badly hurt. Her mother Mabel’s been through the
wringer, coupled with her frail health, she’s in the hospital. Now the Ulbricht parents are shelling out six figures daily on medical
bills. Estelle’s brother, he’s vanished.”
The word ‘vanished sent a fleeting shiver through Brittany.
But she quickly regained her composure. “Okay, then.”
Back in Bay Community, Brittany picked up a call from Charles. “Bri, let’s grab a drink.”
Charles never imagined that her well-hidden identity as a man would be uncovered by Landon. She took a red-eye back to
Craneville and blocked Landon’s number on everything.
Brittany hesitated. Isaac was still buried in paperwork in the study. Was it appropriate to head out this late?
“I’m at our usual hangout.” Charles hung up, her mood foul as she ordered a dozen drinks and downed them one after another.
Brittany knew Charles well enough; Charles was probably in a funk.
She stood, informed Isaac she was stepping out, and after a brief kiss, she changed clothes and drove away.
Arriving at the bar, Charles was already deep into her drinks.
Despite her reputation for playing the field in Craneville, her astonishing looks still made her a sought-after companion, both by
men and women.
With her fair skin flushed from the booze, she looked like a peach blossom on the verge of blooming, utterly irresistible.
