The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 958

Chapter 958
The Metzger family kept Jonathan’s amnesia under wraps, fearing that Saskia might lure him away again.
Without his memories, Jonathan clung to Ophelia, something Mrs. Metzger was quite pleased about.
Ophelia, indifferent to the marriage herself, decided to simply go along with it, thus settling the engagement.
Saskia, no longer concerned with Jonathan’s affairs, fully dedicated herself to dating a wealthy heir.
With Leila stirring the pot, it didn’t take long before both families agreed to meet.
Yuri invited Brittany to accompany him to a dinner party, to which she agreed.
After work, Brittany picked up Daniel from Star Elementary School. The boy had adapted so well, he was swimming through
school life like a fish in water.
As they got into the car, Daniel presented a rose to Brittany like a treasured gift. “Mommy, this is for you.”
The rose had seen better days, its petals wilted and some fallen, its charm slightly comical.
Overlooking its imperfections, Brittany asked, “Where did you get this?”
“I picked it from the school’s rose garden,” Danjel chirped crisply.
“Did you pick it secretly?”
“No, I helped the teacher water the plants, and this was my reward,” Daniel grinned slyly. “The school also has a sunflower field,
and I made a deal with the teacher. If I help out there too, I’ll get a bunch of sunflowers.”
Brittany’s heart melted. “Thank you, sweetie.”
Daniel’s ears turned red, but he feigned coolness. “As long as you like it, Mommy.”
Isaac was tied up with a social engagement that evening, and Brittany, not in the mood to cook, took Daniel to a restaurant he’d
been eager to try.

The eatery specialized in Craneville’s local cuisine and was quite popular. Brittany had made reservations, and upon arrival, they
were seated by a window.
Brittany ordered Daniel’s favorites, including a glass of corn juice.
During their wait, a flock of stern-faced bodyguards in black suits entered, their intimidating presence making other diners lower
their voices to avoid any trouble.
The woman they encircled, wearing a sleek black evening gown, wasn’t a top-tier beauty, but she carried an imposing aura.
“Isn’t that Estelle Ulbricht?” someone whispered.
“The Ulbricht family went under, and Estelle still has such a following?”
“Are you not aware? Estelle once dated a Hartman family son, Dominic.”
“Weren’t they over?”
Dominic and Estelle’s affair was well-known in Craneville, a match of talents and looks.
But the Ulbricht family’s fall from grace had been a sad turn of events.
“They officially split, but Dominic’s still seeing her on the sly. Just won’t marry her.”
Dominic was an elite, and marrying a fallen heiress was out of the question.
Brittany suddenly remembered her investigation. The Ulbricht family was still connected to the research institute; she needed to
find an opportunity to talk to them.
Danjel slurped his corn juice, his innocent gaze making Brittany’s heart turn to putty.
Midway through the meal, Daniel needed the restroom.
“Don’t talk to strangers, and I’ll wait right outside for you, okay?” Brittany instructed as she walked him to the bathroom.
Daniel puffed up his chest confidently. “Okay.”
Once inside, Daniel hurried, but in his rush, he collided with a wall of muscle, bouncing back and landing on the floor.

The man was startled too and helped Daniel up. “Little guy, you alright?”
Pressed for time and remembering his mom’s advice, Daniel pushed the man away. After finishing up, Daniel emerged slowly.
His behind still smarting, he looked up to meet the man’s concerned gaze.
“Little guy, you sure you’re okay?”
Daniel shook his head and moved to the sink, too short to reach.
