The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 899

Chapter 899
“Whatever it takes, don’t let her return to the Lynettes.”
Leila had never in her wildest dreams imagined that the woman from years ago would bear a daughter, let alone that the news
would reach Craneville!
Given Yuri’s affection for her, if that little brat came back, the whole Lynette family would be thrown into chaos.
And what would her thirty years of patient scheming amount to then?
Meanwhile, Knox turned to Yuri. “If that child is found, you mustn’t play favorites.”
His son’s marriage was a shambles, something beyond his influence. But having raised the twins as his own grandchildren for so
many years, he worried that Yuri would show favoritism once the girl returned.
“Dad,” Yuri, usually so composed, betrayed a hint of impatience. “You forced me into a marriage, and I met your expectations.
Are you now going to meddle in my personal affairs?”
Knox choked up. After a long pause, he spoke softly, “You still blame me.”
Blame him for separating him and that woman!
Yuri looked down. “I wouldn’t dare.”
Knowing what was in his son’s heart, Knox gestured. “You should go.”
Yuri left the study, finding his confidant waiting outside.
“Mr. Lynette.”
“Avoid the Lynettes and continue the search.”
Yuri didn’t trust the Lynettes to find his daughter; it was a task he intended to undertake himself.
“Yes, sir.”
The thought of having a daughter filled Yuri with a mixture of anticipation and melancholy, laced with regret.

“Also, regarding the jewelry studio you wanted to acquire, one of the founders has left,” the confidant added.
“Bri-jeweled Studio?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s arrange a meeting then.”
“Understood.”
Back in his room, Yuri found Leila waiting, draped in a seductive silk nightgown.
“What are you doing here?” Yuri frowned in disgust.
They had agreed that beyond the title of husband and wife, there would be nothing more.
Leila, aware of his thoughts, forced a smile. “Yuri, I am your wife, I just want to spend more time with you.”
“There’s no need.” Yuri saw through her, denying her. “I know what you want. Holden and Saskia were raised as Lynettes, and I
won’t shortchange them. They’ll get what’s due.”
Beyond that, they could expect nothing more.
Leila bit her lip, a hint of aggrievement in her pose. “Yuri, you know, all these years I’ve always...”
“It’s late. Go back to your room.” Yuri’s refusal to engage was clear.
Prideful Leila could not stand being snubbed and stormed out.
Yuri had the servants clean the room top to bottom, disgusted by her presence.
He didn’t stay at the estate that night; instead, he drove to an old apartment building in the historic district, a relic among
skyscrapers.
Yuri climbed the stairs and pushed open the door.
The cozy three-bedroom apartment, preserved as it was thirty years ago, welcomed him.

Standing on the threshold, he felt a surreal moment, half-expecting Juliana to eme from the kitchen with a sweet-and-sour pork
dish in hand, chiding him with a smil “You’re late today!”
Yet Yuri knew that Juliana would never speak to him again.
He closed the door behind him and entered the master bedroom.
The sheets were the same ones Juliana had used, and he had never had the heart to change them.
Lying in bed, he could almost sense her lingering scent. He closed his eyes, his breathing shallow.
The very next morning, Ysabel received a call from the Lynettes. They were interested in acquiring Bri-jeweled Studio.
