The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 887

Chapter 887
Grace collapsed once again.
The Salter clan was in an uproar, storming the hospital in a mass of worry and apprehension.
Isaac was the family’s pride and rock, the linchpin that held them together.
Surrounded by his kin, their inquiries came fast and fervent, as if fearing that with Grace’s departure, the entire Salter legacy
would fall squarely on Isaac’s shoulders.
Manuel and Marcel were there too.
Gone was their former luster; these past few days had been particularly rough for them.
Marcel hadn’t expected Grace to collapse.
The moment Marcel showed up, Isaac grabbed him and slammed him against the wall with a force that threatened to crunch his
bones.
“Emily said you went to see Grandma. What did you say to her?”
Grace didn’t just collapse out of the blue; anger must have played a part.
Marcel glanced meaningfully at Brittany, then back at Isaac, his gaze tinged with a frosty undertone. “I simply wanted to ask her if
she could spare my mother.”
“Not a chance!” Isaac felt an intense desire to crush Marcel; he had few people he cared about, and Grace was one of them.
His voice lowered to a growl, his eyes narrowing coldly. “Marcel, if you dare come near Grandma again, I swear, I’ll make sure
Leda doesn’t live to see her trial!”
“Is that a threat?”
Marcel tried to maintain his composure, but panic was setting in.
Isaac forcefully pushed Marcel aside, leaving Him sprawled on the ground like a helpless mass. Despite his attempts to rise, his
legs failed to respond.

“Marcel, count yourself lucky that I still have a shred of sanity left.”
Grace’s condition was bleak, and the doctors were at a loss.
One critical notice after another was issued, each one further dampening Isaac’s spirits as Grace’s health declined.
The Salter family was in turmoil, everyone anxiously awaiting an outcome.
But fate, as it often is, proved cruel.
In the dead of night, Grace was critical again, and despite hours of effort by the medical team, they couldn’t bring her back.
The operating room’s light flickered on and off.
Isaac stood frozen outside, like a statue, unable to move.
The doctor’s words were like gales whistling by, tearing his heart into countless ragged pieces.
Brittany clearly heard the doctor say.
“I’m sorry, we did everything we could. Grace’s body was at its limit. Even if she’d been revived, there wouldn’t have been much
point.”
Cries erupted from the Salter family behind her
Brittany clenched her fists unconsciously.
“You might want to discuss and then go in to see Grace for the last time.”
Isaac was the first to enter.
Brittany watched the door open and close, like opening the floodgates to a storm of memories.
At their first meeting, Grace treated her with immense kindness, as if she were her own granddaughter.
Then, a rift formed with the arrival of Joie, but five years later, Grace had made amends, and they had mended fences.
At her core, Brittany was someone starved for affection. Grace offered her sweetness and confections, experiences Brittany had
yet to fully embrace.

Despite being aware of the close connection between the poisoning and Grace, Brittany had never thought of revenge.
Brittany couldn’t forgive Grace, yet she couldn’t find it in her to hate her either. She stood rooted to the spot, emotions swirling
within.
Noel and Manuel took turns entering the room.
