Chapter 878
Chapter 878
Lionel watched as she accepted the document, a look of relief washing over his face. “Get some rest; your health is the priority.”
After Lionel had left, Moon found herself unable to focus on her work documents any longer.
In Lionel’s eyes, their marriage was merely a transaction, a business deal.
But, in truth, she had pursued this union, having fallen head over heels for Lionel at first sight.
Unfortunately, Lionel didn’t harbor the same feelings for her.
Yet, she wasn’t one to place love above all else. Marrying Lionel was partly wishful thinking and partly a strategy to cement her
own standing.
As for the pregnancy, she had her own ulterior motives.
While Lionel might not love her now, she believed that given enough time, some semblance of affection would blossom between
them.
Even if it wasn’t love, she believed it would be enough to sustain them for a lifetime.
Isaac, swamped with office works, was discharged within a week.
Irrefutable evidence proved that Leda and Joie had colluded, leading the police to refuse Leda’s release.
As the scandal escalated, Grandeur Capital’s stock plummeted.
The Salter family’s distant relatives could no longer sit idly by.
After pleading with Grace, they convened a shareholders’ meeting to oust Marcel from Grandeur Capital.
Without the backing of the Salter family, Marcel’s power dwindled.
The family chose a representative, Soren Salter, to approach Isaac.
“Zac, I know we did you wrong in the past, but at the end of the day, we’re family. Grandeur Capital is on the brink, you can’t just
stand by and watch it fall.”
Gone was Soren’s former arrogance, replaced by a humble plea as he stood before Isaac, begging for his return to take control
of Grandeur Capital.
Isaac brewed a cup of coffee for Soren. “Soren, as I’ve said before, I have no desire to meddle in Grandeur Capital’s affairs.
Please, let’s leave it at that.”
They had turned their backs on him for their own gain; now they came crawling back. Such ‘family’ was beneath his contempt!
Soren was desperate.
“Zac, we were wrong before, and on behalf of everyone, I apologize. Can you not give us this chance to make amends?”
Isaac looked at Soren with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile.
Sweat trickled down Soren’s spine as he exhausted all his persuasive and apologetic rhetoric, yet he received no affirmative
response.
Returning empty-handed, Soren left the entire family anxious and unsettled. Some even sought Grace’s intervention.
Reluctantly, Grace approached Isaac, urging him to take over Grandeur Capital.
“Grandma, if you say the word, I won’t refuse,” Isaac replied smoothly, yet with conditions.
“But this time they’re begging me to return. If they ever think of turning on me again, it won’t be so simple.”
Grace understood Isaac’s stance and agreed. “If Grandeur Capital is in your hands, you have free rein.”
Isaac reclaimed his power and, on his first day back, dealt with several meddling relatives, setting an example that resonated
throughout the family.
Even Soren wasn’t spared.
Fuming, Soren nearly destroyed Isaac’s office.
“Isaac, what is this about? Kicking us all out of Grandeur Capital so you can monopolize power?”
Damn it, Isaac was more ruthless than ever!
Isaac watched Soren’s tantrum with a cold gaze. As Soren’s tirade reached its peak, Isaac tossed a stack of documents onto the
table. “Soren, before you continue yelling, maybe take a look at these.”
